    What you did with the string was a whip finish. It is used for ropes and rod guilds.

    As a geologist I truly appreciated your introductory comments about the local geology. So often in videos where the geology is stunning rarely is the regional geology commented on...but rocks ( once you get familiar with them ) have their own story to tell. My thesis involved mapping 75 square miles on foot in the high Sierra ( 8 months living out of a tent and surviving on what nature could provide.). It was so beautiful...and memorable..and so challenging. Love your channel!!

    Chefs are very constructive and honest with their food. Kinda humbling and awkward to see, but very entertaining to watch! Always cool to see them eat something they whipped up for the first time using fresh ingredients in a cool setting.

    There is something magical about starting a friction fire. I've done several and it still feels like I'm conjuring the fire from within the wood. I can relate to Alex's feeling after he gets the fire going.

    When my friend first asled me to go poke for Monkey Faced Eels I swore he was bullshitting me. I figured it was like Snipe hunting. I even just fished until I saw him catch one..then I was hooked. We caught about 9 that day. This was back around 1986.

    I was watching your vid of the 24 hour challenge a canou and camp ... I see next day you cought a fish ... you didn't have no seasoning but you could of season the fish with wild raspberries... good vids awesome

    Whip finish. I use it when ever I need to do just about any thing. Right now my glasses retainer strap is whip finished on the leg of my glasses with some braid fishing line. Mine is not reusable I usually put a drop of super glue on it to just loack it down.

    I love your videos I recently subscribed and I’ve watched all of them and you all get along so well and I have no doubt that your viewers are learning a lot especially about safety I’m so glad you put great emphasis on it! I know I have learned a lot, and I love all of the survival things that you all make I would love to to be able to make those things myself!       Humm interesting thought, the purple urchins are considered evasive and eat kelp eels and starfish eat kelp so we need to find ways to consume purple urchins to ensure the habitats for fat healthy eels.

      You can see them from a little north of Santa Cruz all the way to San Diego. They are part of the Monterey geologic Formation (though we were nowhere near Monterey Bay in this vid). Thanks for watching!

      Buck Ranger, the 110 was a bit big in my hand which is funny because my hands are huge! It's a bit on the heavy side so not a backpacking blade, but great for bopping big fish and such!

      It is our policy not to divulge exact locations to help keep fishing pressure low and therefore promote sustainability of spots. A quick search of Marine Protected Areas and State Marine Conservation Areas of the Central Coast will help you weed out locations where fishing and foraging may be closed. There are only a handfull of jetties that it could be once you hone in a bit. If you find it, please keep it quiet. Happy fortaging!
