Thank you ...Lost for giving me this board for free. Thank you Smith Optics and Surf Ride for sponsoring this episode.
Absolutely loved the shred vids. Helps a bunch in realizing what the board works well in doing. I'd say keep doing the vids when you can!
Great work,
Nash
Like your new illustrated approach a lot. Shred Show just keeps giving! Great stuff, thanks!
Another sweet show Chris thanks, please continue analysing surfing & surfboards in all of the detail you can. With each show I develop my own surfing & how to surf my boards. Most of all I appreciate you giving me the knowledge of what to talk about & ask for with my local shaper to help create the best board for me. Keep up the amazing work. Cheers from cold Victoria (Aus)
The slow-mo video was a good edition to the show, examples always help explain esoteric concepts like board design. I really like your show and glad to see it has become a success!
LOVE the slow motion vids that help explain what the board's features help it and the surfer do on the wave. Definitely helps seeing the little things that pros do that we mortals would otherwise miss at normal speed. Thanks, and keep 'em coming!
Thanks for the shoutout 😁😍 I love the slow-mo just showing how a quick shift of the foot on this board makes it go from rocket down the line to rocket to the sky. Love the show.
Chris, I've been riding the V3 for a few months now and would recommend it for anyone looking for 2 board quiver. I've got a Nick Blair Cab Sav as my groveller, and then use the V3 in everything else. As you mentioned, knee high to overhead - it's magic!
Thank you Chris for another great show. Very insightful - use of slo-mo technology to explain how a surfer is putting to work the different "features" of the surfboard's shape makes your explanation so much better. Keep it up!
Another great show! Your enthusiasm is infectious. Makes me want to buy a new board and go surfing.
Love the way you use the video and actually show exactly what you were talking about . been to La Jolla lately good little punchy wave can't wait to in prove on my surfing to ride the cove when it get better later on the year ... Thank bra
Chris mate! thanks to this review i went out and got myself a 5'10 20 2 1/2 by 32.9L i weigh 90kg and am 6'3 tall. The board absolutely flys! So perfect for 3 months of sloppy 1-3ft summer swells we get here on the south coast of NSW Australia. Still frothing on just how loose, fast and how much pop the board!!! Thanks again and keep the shows coming! yewwwww
LOVE THE WAY YOU USED THE CLIPS TO DESCRIBE THE WAY THIS BOARD RIDES!
Sick show, stoked on the slow-mo breakdown!
great video and awesome board , never stop learning from watching your videos
Great video. Yup, appreciate the actual footage of how the board performs. Great idea!
Woo. Strong work Chris. Unparalleled analysis.
Your vids are awesome. The more tech, the better. Slo mo & vids - defo!
I've had two standard Rockets and three V2 Rockets, my favourite board of all time. The last two V2's have been custom done in Futureflex with a custom paint job too. So saucy. Seriously love these shows.
suburbanbliss85 What do you feel in the Futureflex boards that you like more than the PU? Curious what made you continue with that vs going back to PU.
Loving the slowmo/technique review - please do more! I picked up a Black Sheep which combines the nose of the Rocket for speed and the tail of the subscorcher for turning. Really liking it. I had my eye on a v3 rocket, but cant find any deals on CL so I'll wait a year and pick one up. Your 'optimal waves' is exactly what I'm looking for and fits my style of surfing.
Got the rock up and its such a great barrel board and so fast. its my go to board for big hollow waves. Surfed it at malibu on that big hurricane swell worked great. I dont need anymore boards as I have allot but the rock up is such a good board I might have to get one of these
Chris, great show again. You make me want every board you review. I like the vids that accompany the review and how they help you illustrate your explanations. I would like to see footage of a regular surfer on the boards (non pro) to see how us mere mortals can expect them to handle...may be you could show us some of your sessions
Hi Chris, enjoying your reviews and the technical details you use to describe how the boards might ride and helps me understand my own style of surfing. thanks!
I have a fark by Fletcher Chounard and really enjoy how it rides and like the whole philosophy behind the company and why they make boards the way they do.
At 6'0, 20" 5/16, 2"5/8 and 33.4 L my fark paddles really well for me at 6'2 185, experienced surfer with the width up the board, turns really nicely in the pocket too. more good things about this board but would love to see your review and how you find it. Cheers!
Great video! Thanks for breaking down the effect of the wings on a board. I've always wondered how they worked.
You're welcome Jimi thank you for the feedback.
Chris thanks for the new episode! CAN WE PLEASE GET ANOTHER FIN-DAY-FRIDAY!?!?!?!
Given the different versions of the rocket all still available v1-v2-v3-v2stub a good episode would be comparing and looking at all three and why you would buy one of the older ones over the v3.
Once again, an enjoyable episode
I absolutely love shred show! Nothing but great insight. I would really love to see an episode where you compare different board constructions i.e. c3, future flex, pe, pu, epoxy, etc. I am especially interested in your feedback on the c3 that ...Lost has implemented in various boards. Thanks and great show as always!
Kyle Rogers I've rode the firewire v3 rocket but the c3 model looks so dope i wanna order it but would love a review or knowledge on what it does
Hey Chris,
I have watched Ur vids for ages and I love how detailed and helpful they are. I was just wondering if u can do a review on the DHD switch blade or the duck nuts, thanks and keep up all the amazing content. ✌
Just got a 5'6" RV 3 days ago and was using it in new symrna beach, FL when it was between 1-3 feet. I've been surfing a year and am noticing a huge improvement in my surfing after changing boards! Chose the RV after watching your review and couldn't be happier. This v3 rocket might make a good board for my next venture for when the surf is bigger especially since Florida waves really don't give you any speed.
I'm really interested in seeing a review on something much more different could you try to do the Bing Speed Square? Looks ridiculous
Your outro destroyed my ears man.. Great vid once again though! Keep it up, you're a legend.
I got a board custom shaped inspired by the features of this board. It rides great!
Thanks Chris! You're the bomb!
I’m an intermediate to advance surfer with 15+ years of surfing. I’m 37 years old, 5’9” and 205 pounds, 212 with a wetsuite on, and ride 36L to 40L. I got the V3 Rocket to replace my old everyday board the Sub Scorcher 2. I’m riding the V3 Rocket as a custom 6’2” (39L) and I have found that it’s more of a step up board. I need a wave that is head high or bigger and breaking more top to bottom for this board to really work well. I surf in SoCal and this board is probably only surfed maybe 30% of the time on the top end of the good surf range. The Sub Scorcher 2 is a better everyday board in my opinion.
Love the show. Can you do a show on the superbrand unit?
Stuck between that board and a v3 rocket
I've really been thinking about picking one of these up. I love my V2 stub, I've just been curious about how that winged tail and increased rocker would feel and perform compared to the stub's traditional rocket tail and flatter overall rocker. Cheers!
timmy is one of my fav surfers, cool video/slab. Very similar to #4 but a little stubbier
Hi Chris, Love your videos; are you able to do a review on the lost bottom feeder. Thanks ;)
Another good one
They man, great show. I'm a regular foot, advanced surfer with a bum front knee. I need a board that I can surf either neutral or back footed since I can't drive off my front foot very well anymore. Would you recommend this board for that? Currently on a Byrne MB 6'4" Pill.
I ride an original rocket. Great boards! Can you get a hold of a Weekend Warrior?! Thanks Chris great episode
Hey Chris love your show! I'm thinking about buying the v3 after seeing this and I'm just curious what sort of fins you would recommend for this board? I am about 150 pounds and would use this board for the few more powerful beach breaks and point breaks around the area I live. Cheers!
Hey Chris, again great job in breaking down the v3.
Question: How these wings position compare to the ones in the #4? And how it influences the board drive and release? I know there is only two wings in the #4 but from seeing the episodes I notice that those are more lined up with the fins. And that in the v3 each position of the wings is where you set you back foot depending on what is your next move on the face of the have (speed and go air like in the Nate Yeomans clip).
Keen on earing from u regarding this!
Cheers from PT
what is the difference between the rocket V2 and the Rocket V3 ??? Is the rocket V3 a substitute of the rocket V2 ?
Chris, awesome reviews. I'm twenty-five , 6'3, 90kg. Do you reckon I could surf this board at 6'0 or would that be too short? There's a nice little second handy in good nic that I'm looking at . Cheers
Liked, Subbed. Sweet show, need more vids!
Another great session...I have been riding Ricky Carroll's board for a while and they are spot on. How about a review of one of Ricky's boards, say the HEMI.
Siiick vid again, keep them coming! Any chance of seeing the Lost Weekend Warrior anytime sson??
Hi Chris, Thanks for all the great reviews! I learned heaps from them. I was wondering if you have a chance to do a review on the SUPERbrand the Fling? And if you would rate it as an all out groveler. I surf and live in the Netherlands and we only surf windswell here.
From this perspective I have one more question, about volume. It's easy enough to figure out my volume for places like france or portugal but for our sloppy wind swell waves I always opt for about 3 to 5 liters more. I'm just wondering if that doesn't frustrate the shape and the purpose of some of the boards (making them just floating devices instead of fine-tuned surfboards because they become to long for the way the were shaped and my weight.) Thing is the waves are really, seriously, sloppy ;-) We do go abroad for surf trips but if got a nice quiver for that ;-)
Thanks in advance! Cheers
Awesome thanks for the cool videos
You need to make some more videos pleaseeee!!!!
Once again a magnificent review. Now can you do a review on the Metro by Legendary shaper Maurice Cole.Should be easy to get your hands on one now as they are made by Lost for CA.
Cheers
hey I have a 5'5 v2 if I were to get a v3 should I get a 5'5 or 5'4 or 5'3 I'm about 110lbs 5' tall
Witch board is faster into waves the 5.10 V3 33.7 // ltr or the shortround 6.0 34 ltr
Thanks
The way that you explained how the tail works reminded me when you were featuring the "New Flyer" by Channel Islands. As in, how the tail hip acts as a fulcrum as you apply pressure on the tail to gain speed... Could that be another function of the first set of wings? Does it act as a fulcrum like the tail hip on the flyer?
In combination with the less amount of volume in the tail...
I'd love to know the difference or comparison of a Rocket V3 vs White Diamond 2 vs Coil M80 vs Firewire Spitfire
I live on Long Island and finally gave in and got the V3 Rocket. Perfect board to help me make these closing out beach break sections that we get most of the time. Fastest board I've ever ridden! I thought my JC Flying Pig was fast but this blows that board away. Only complaint is I'm mostly a back footed surfer being that I grew up on a skateboard. Any suggestions for a more back footed oriented board that would feel solid yet fast in these Long Island conditions?
I'm also from Long Island and have a rocket too. I have the original rocket but they are pretty similar. I found that putting my foot really far back like on the end of the tailpad helps keep that back footed style.
Hi Chris, as usual this is a great review. I am looking at buying a V3 im 6,0 weight 145 lbs level intermediate. what size do you think I should go for? Il be wearing a wetsuit also. Thank you
Denis
Chris it'd be awesome if you could review the Al Merrick REMIX, very cool board man
It reminds of the Rusty Piranha but more shortboardy on the nose, and tail rocket... Keep bringing the the surf footage!!! :)
Hey Chris I'd like to see your input on the Pyzalien! Pyzel made a recent collaboration with Firewire, and it looks rad!
Jaimie! I saw this too and got curious. Will have one next month.
What should I get a t low or fred rubble
How would you feel about this board at a place like windansea? Or less punchy, slower beach breaks? Do you think it would work pretty well?
Chris, Another amazing show. I look forward to these all week. One obvious question that would be great if you addressed... Why does Lost have a V2 and a V3 Rocket? What is difference so I can determine which board would be best for me?
The short version - Get the V2 if you want a ripable shortboard for waves under stomach high that feels more on top of the water than a standard shortboard. Get the v3 if you want that same on top of the water feel that you get from shorter wider boards, but want more options in waves above stomach high. The difference is that the V2 has a wider nose and tail, and the V3's nose and tail is more narrow. A lot of surfers could have fun on both boards and not notice the difference, so don't over think it.
hey chris. anychance of doing supers siamese palm viper??
Can you review the stamps scarecrow?
MORE SHOWS MORE OFTEN
Get a vampirate Gravedigger or the too fast for satan model from them. Super interesting boards and would help give the brand the recognition it deserves!
Can you do a episode on the tyler warren bar of soap or one of ryan burch's asymmetrical boards?
What foam and resign is the board made of?
i think the vernor rocco would be a pretty sick review
Hey.can you help and tell the difference between wirrdo tipper to v3 rocket please?
Anyone tried the fcs2 reactor or the KA fin in the V3?
Can anyone help me out... Again haha. Lost website lists huge volumes and sizes and this makes me feel like ordering their smallest size is wrong. I'm 5'8 165 lbs I ride a 5'11 beach buggy inspired shortboard about 27 cL love it. I had a weekend warrior 5'8 that felt a little big though. I am on the fence About a 5'6 or a 5'7. Is this a board you'd rather undersize than oversize?
Joelfitz ML42 or SeaGypsy! super cool designs
Many thanks a lot of good info:)
Hello Chirs, wonder if you could give me a feed back on what volume should i order a V3 Rocket. I´m 37 Years old height 5´8 and weigth 170lbs, level intermediate and average fitness.
I usually ride a fish 6.0 from local shapper but have no volume information, i´m leaning towards the 5´9 (30.44 liters) but in doubt about 5´10 (33liters) can you give me an indication on what possibly suit me better, my gap are waves from quick beach breaks but normally swels in Portugal (Cascais) aren´t above 6ft and i don´t want to loose speed to enter smaller crouwded waves.
Thanks in advance all the best Nuno

Thinking of getting the V3 for a 2 board quiver with the Pukas El Loco as a small wave Board. But I'm not quite sure about the Volume I should go with. I'm 5'8 and weigh 159 lb. Skill level advanced, I'm athletic and fit but can just go surfing for a couple of weeks during the year. So should i go with a 5'7 or even 5'6? Or stay on the save side with a 5'8?
Thanks for helping me out
I'm about 5'10, calculated it wrong. So I guess a 5'8 would be perfect.
please do a review of the joel Parkinson 5.0 signature fin by kinetic racing.
Can you please review the lost v2 stub or the rv i like both, which would be better or funner for smaller socal surf?
Christian, CZcams search "Shred Show Nate Yeomans" and the RV episode will come up first. In smaller socal surf I say the RV if you want pure fun and glide. The Stub if you want to rip a bit more and are willing to sacrifice a tiny bit of ease of use. Both would be fun.
Hi mate, which would be a better groveller the v3 or the JS Blak Box 2
Blackbox is not a groveller
can u do the dhd black diamond ?
good surfers reposition their back foot between driving and turning whether there are wings or not, whether its wide tail block or not
wings are put on surfboards so that surfers buy a new surfboard that they don't have
Could you review the McCrystal Larry?
Hello Chris at Shred Show! Just a suggestion: I would love to see you surf some of these boards and describe the pros and cons of the board based on your experience with it. Also a review of the SUPERbrand Answer would be awesome, Thanks
-Jack
Do you shape?
Can you review a Von Sol Shadow?
Yes to the weekend warrior please!
Can you do the JS industries monster next?
Holy crap the ending may have woke the house up!
Hey is it the squiggly sound that's so loud when the SS logo flashes or is it the Smith footage? We may need to play with the sound levels next time.
SurfboardShredShow both actually! The ending SS logo is a bit louder than the opening
eamij Thank you! I'll adjust it next time.
Hi Chirs. Based on your review and what waves I surf I've decided to order myself a V3 Rocket but undecided on what size to get. I'm 5'8" and 66kg (145lbs), 44 years old and an average/intermediate surfer. I've only recently discovered what a difference the volume of a board can make. I would say I'm above average fitness for my age but only get to surf once a week if I'm lucky. I got a 6'0 Fred Rubble a few months ago which is 28.6 L and feels pretty good but still not sure if it has enough volume or too much. Based on that I was thinking a 5'8" V3 at 29 L but would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Love the show.
Cheers, Warren.
+Warren Angel almost same stats as you, what did you end up going with? I'm in the market for V3.Cheers
+LambMadras I ended up with the 5'9 based on advise from lost. I was also able to pickup a second hand 5'8 but ended up selling it again as I prefer the 5'9 much more. The 5'9 Seems to work better for me anyway. Hope that helps.
+LambMadras Also the rails seemed a bit more refined on the 5'9 for some reason.
Hello Chris,
Great review! Can you review one of the meyerhoffer boards? the supernormal for example?
Slip-in coming soon. Will see about a Supernormal.
Great, looking forward to it. Thinking of buying the supernormal myself but the slip in is a more interesting design
Please review some vampirate surfboards?
Could you compare this board to Dane's #4?
Would they perform similarly?
Kijai - good question. Did you notice that both boards have nearly identical thickness and width when compared across the same length? You could likely expect #4 to feel a bit more drivey and slightly more directional down the line, while this board would likely give you a bit more pivot and performance in the pocket. #4 is also a bit more suited to real high performance groveling in stomach and smaller waves, while this board works in a bit bigger waves. The most noticeable design difference is how the V3 removes more surface area from the tail and does so more quickly along the outline towards the tail, while #4 puts the wings further back, making the surface area reduction happen later. The v3 likely holds more volume because the foil stays slightly thicker towards the nose, but I'm speculating on that because I don't have both boards in front of me.
SurfboardShredShow Very interesting. I own the #4 and I just got my hands on a custom shaped v3. Havent rode it yet. But, why I got the V3 is I feel the #4 gets maxed out in bigger surf and in pitchy / hollower surf. I feel the tail slips out when it gets bigger. Great board though! I appreciate your reviews, thanks,
SurfboardShredShow Christian Webb Hey you guys have some pretty sweet advice, I'm looking to get the board for a one board quiver, because i want to surf bigger more hollow waves when they come but most of the time all i get are mushy waist high waves. Will the V3 rocket be too difficult to paddle into the wave with?
luke evason The V3 has been a dream to ride. I ride it in punchy waves, I leave it at home when it goes well above overhead though. But I custom shaped mine at 5'10 and I need my step up after it gets big.
Ron Jon (or another brand) Foam Board
Hey Chris i'd like to see the dumpster diver. I think that it would be very interesting to here your input.
Can you do anything on Aloha boards ? Magic mushroom or hamster...or both?
superbrand the toy please!
Do a Fred rubble from channel islands
id like to see the mini simmons
Wat a good short board for about a 210lb person and good for Florida waves
Any interest in reviewing something like a mini simmons?
Stretch BUZZ series. Mr. Buzz or Super Buzz please
