😂 it was a great day wasn’t it?!! I’ve made the velour jumpsuit and I’m sorry to say it’s not a success 🫣🤦♀️😂. All my own fault though! I’ve had to laugh about the fishy elastic, it was in the normal rag market, if you remember there was only one stall in the fish market and no one bought anything in there. I think we were all desperate for a cuppa by then!! 😂

Your enthusiasm is so contageous and inspiring! The Cara Sunset tee turned out gorgeous and really suits you, and so clever how you solved the lack of fabric for the back! It’s very useful to have those problem solving skills when it comes to ”pattern Tetris” ☺️ A couple of times I have made a yoke, either front or back, to make the fabric last.
The colour of that ”burnt out” fabric - burnt peach or soft terracotta or something - is lovely! I have the same favourite colours as you, like a soft autumn I think and I simply adore that shade.
Ah yes very often I need to do the pattern Tetris, not always successfully 🫣😂. I’m really looking forward to making the terracotta knit, I’m glad it’s not just me who loves that colour! Thank you X

For the very crisp army fabric have you thought of the new travertine from the cccrew? That needs structure and might be a good plan, at least for a wearable toile? Give it a burn test maybe?

I go to the Rag Market once a month with my trolley as I don't live far. I just love it enjoy the rummage too its worth it for the fun always find some bargains, Not purchased any fabric online for ages.

Great fabric haul, I am looking out for a long, double-ended zip as I want to hack a naya tee by inserting the zip across the shoulders and neckline . Then, bring the zip pulls towards the neckline to make the tee stay on. I think that would look cool with that khaki mesh. I'd better plan a trip to the rag market soon 😊

Just catching up with some vlogs this afternoon & so enjoyed seeing your fabric haul from B’ham market especially as i had popped in this morning 🤗 obviously i also came back laden with 50p/£1m etre fabric plus pushing the boat out to stretch to £1.50m😜

Ooh how exciting, it’s always great fun to have a rummage round the rag market! It’s hard to buy normal price fabric after being there though isn’t it?!! 🫣😂. Yes the elastic was inside the market, the lovely lady sort of in the middle towards the bottom end who sells lots of zips if that makes sense. I’m not sure she had many rolls though; she may have been selling them off I think? Not sure. Happy sewing! xx

Hi Sarah I ventured into Birmingham rag market today and desperate to find the big reels of elastic but couldn't see it anywhere wandering if Friday us not the best day to go, can you remember where abouts the stall was? Will definitely go again great video by the way. x
Ah I’m sorry you didn’t find it!! The stall is in the indoor market and she’s a lovely lady who has always been there on a Friday when I’ve been. She is towards the bottom end of the market if that makes sense, sort of central, but furthest away from the shops… I’m not sure if she has many of the reels of elastic, she had a few, but may have been selling them off? If you want to dm me your address on Instagram I’m happy to send you some of mine, I shall never use it all!!

I have never heard or known of the rag market in Birmingham. The place looks amazing for picking up bargains for the home sewer. I would have loved to go if I were 20yrs younger. I have been sewing 67yrs and still sew but finding it more difficult to sit for long at the machine and it’s so frustrating. I am so envious of you all.
Ah Christine, thank you for your comment! Are you far from Birmingham? I love that you’ve been sewing for 67 years, I’ll bet you’ve made some amazing garments throughout all the fashion trends over the years! 🥰
@@sewsarahstyle I live in Telford so it’s not far, I have only ever sewn for myself and my children when they were young. I had my first sewing machine when I was around 7yrs old watching my mum. I was never a designer but fascinated by the 60s & 70’s era of fashion. My youngest daughter who lives in Manchester carries on the tradition in sewing but leagues above me. She designs, alters and fits wedding dresses,made up a coat for the Royal Zara Philips and Tv celebrities, I go to her for advice if I am stuck. Lol! I love watching others making so still learning new hints and tips. I dabble now in designing in Seamly2d creating ready for when well enough to create my next dress. I still love sewing. xx
