So unless he isnt working weeks on one weekly video- he knew. The timing is just to perfect. Andrei mustve known it Releases a trailer that day, maybe not the hour but the date for sure.
Didn't know sadly! I wish I would so it would help alot my work but not the case. Only my gut feeling told me it could happen as it did before with updates and patches.

I was one of the naysayers on the F-4. On the last vidoe I commented that having 2 maps the-47 and the -58 all coming in a 2 month period must mean an F-4 delay. Not 20 minutes later Heatblur posted.
The first thing I did with the Kola map was flying to the North Pole in a Hornet. Three fuel tanks in an otherwise clean loadout were more than enough to get there. It was very wacky, the Sun went crazy!
(I'm sure someone else has done it and has made a video of it already, but whatever.)

Every time I see mentions of Kola is misread it as Koala. I can't wait to see drop bears flying the phantom

I used the Delan Fusion when I got into DCS two years ago. Great tracker ( had to use Open track to use). Made the switch to VR after that. Trying to fly on a 27" monitor sucked lol
@@davidjames7382 looking forward to it. I tried Beamtrack that uses face tracking with a standard webcam and was disappointed. Hopefully proper point track with the clip will be more accurate and less lag.
Tried VR got crazy motion sickness to be fair it was a quest 2. if win a pimax crystal I think I'll be able to struggle through lol

Thanks for keeping the videos positive, hope the Kola airfields get cleaned up first as that where pilots spend most of their time closest to the ground. I wonder what Orbx will do for the Lofoten area in Norway. It has to be the most photographed part of Norway. Lofoten is the land just northeast of Bodo airbase on the map.

pre-ordered back in November, excitement dulled because i leave for work on the 20th......miss the 1st 2 weeks
Thanks for the Kola review! I guess I'll wait for now. I just hope there won't be a sudden price hike in June when they add winter textures etc. Phantom right now has a higher priority for me than the Kola map, especially as it seems to be early early early access ATM. 🙂
Greats video and review. It's good that heatblur is going a week of discount for steam users, since they miss out.
I have to call BS on the distances between airfields being an issue. Kovdor is located very close to the border and sits neatly between several airfields and is the perfect location for incursions and skirmishes. For helos sure the flights are on the longer side but there's always FARPs :)
They've set a new bar in places already, it'll be amazing when fully fleshed out.
I’d say it all depends on planes and era’s. Seems fun for modern era and most planes. Then there’s a few with low fuel load or low speed that the issue comes into play and that’s really for one era only
@@BrockvsTV I've already made a cold war era border skirmish with no issues.
@@AdastraRecordings the border area is fine and makes sense since it’s the most modeled and has the most airfields. It’s the sparseness of the rest of the map that I think is causing the problems. It does have that large dead zone in the middle that has no airfields.

Looking forward to the F4 and taking it for a spin on the Kola map. Heatblur again shows how it’s done with their decision to offer the same pre purchase price to steam users as stand alone. I hope that ED and other 3rd party devs follows suit.
Once again thanks for another Video, I all in with the F-4 and waiting for the 21st ,YGTBSM, but Kola I see the potential but the size and the price for the current state and no missions I holding off for the moment.
Lol your voice at the beginning of the introduction to the Kola map almost made me fall asleep. After that it was like a documentary❤️💙💛 we can really see how much Heatblur cares for their community. Its incredible how they try to find a way and come up with one.

I think that many people who enjoy the Kola map are going to add "in-flight refuelling" to their list of necessary skills for many flyable modules.
Kola is going to be an incredible map when completed.

I didn't realize it was coming by the end of the month and Heatblurthank you for always providing that great costumer service with the steam launch week sale! Which great review on the new map and while your right it's just hobby dollars but that does not mean as you''ve said it's automatically worth it... as we can compair it to the outstanding channel 2.0 map and the other destert and free maps... and it's just an alpha product being sold at AA game pricing or in DCS terms a Gen 2 jet or any jet on sale. That said I agree if someone must have it their are worse things to spend your hobby dollars on I feel in DCS.
I think that was a nicely ballanced review of the Kola map.
The phantom will be a before and after for DCS, the same as the first time I tried the f14, the most insane texturing by those times.
First few minutes of Kola flight was jaw dropping for me. The landscape is beahtiful. Also not that bad performance wise and I have mid spec rig for VR.
I've been enjoying the map a lot. Because the map is so huge, the already fleshed out parts are more than enough to run cool missions. The urban areas are very nice!

I want the Afghanistan map for my A-10CII with a controller and F-16 and even buy the AH-64D or F-15E! I want this to be my main map with everything I do!
The Kola map is a great addition to the DCS world. Missions are going to be hard to make due to the size of the map and flight time. Our missions need to be thought out with a little shift in battle lines. Let’s see what people can make with the early access Kola.
Even though Kola is the map's name, it's actually a very small part of the map, it's like calling map of entire United Kingdoms "Wales". But jokes aside, it's great to have a map based on one of the less known parts of the world. It really is northern edge of civilization, not much civilization exists anywhere else on same laititude. And yet it might be one of the main stages of WW3 which I hope never comes to pass. It would be the major suck.
Phantom and CH47 coming almost together. That's going to take all my time :D

I am loving Kola as it is already. Looking forward to some optimisation though...but still not bad as it is. Love the long transit flights between bases...I mean that is part of a simulator experience!

The Kola map really has so much potential. I won’t buy anything based on potential, but I really hope they’ll iron out the map’s issues so that I can justify the purchase.

My bet is that the reason the phantom took so long to announce the date is that they were waiting for the music license for baba o reilly
You mention the road bases. How does one know where they are? And that submarine I have not seen. Where is it?
I disagree with your stand on the distances, not because they aren't accurate, but Enigma and others have pointed out that the time/distant commitment for online players missions will be a problem. Secondly the large distances foreshadow the same problem with the green map every one is clamoring. for...Vietnam, which will likely be MUCH larger. RP6 missions from RTAFB bases are at a minimum 250 miles, but more likely 350-400+ miles. DaNang is a good 350 mi from Hanoi/Haiphong. We are spoiled by the relatively close quarters of the Sinai, Syria and PG. Just something to consider.
I understand ENIGMA and other servers, but that's why there are multiple maps.

Kola feels a bit like a modern caucus map, the winter textures will be interesting, orbx usually do a good job in msfs

I think Kola looks pretty cool.
Kola feels a little too early in my opinion, too bad it is that expensive for the state it is in. I'll wait and see if it improves with time, buy it later down the line if they incentivise me with good updates.
I guess I will wait until the map is in a better state of completion to decide if I buy it or not.
