The protesters have been peaceful for two weeks, then all of a sudden things escalated. They interfered with the usual activities last week as more than 200 gathered in an important area for the Natural Sciences (they blocked access to one of our facilities), some of them “reclaimed” a lecture building. You couldn’t walk around in that area, let’s be clear. The police came in and gave them the order to disperse- they had around 3 hours to do so. They didn’t, so the police arrested some of them. People need to understand that in a democracy every right has a limit, otherwise it is an anarchy (the right to life is the only one that doesn’t have limitations). It’s very sad that some of these kids got their future jeopardized for an exercise in futility.
Kidnapping charges. Refusing to allow janitors to leave building. Destruction of property. Criminal trespassing. And 80 other felony charges!!!!! Stand for something for fall for anything. I stand with americans held hostage in gaza as well as citizens from 17 other countries held hostage.
