Love my pedal boat, I use it in a pond on my property. I use a paddle along with peddling and works well. It is more stable IMO for grandkids, no worries about flipping it over
Had some of the best childhood memories on a paddleboat...strapped a cooler and first aid kit to the back and paddled around to various small islands with a few buddies on a summers day
Fishing on the paddle boat as a kid at the family cottage is one of my favourite childhood memories. Only time we'd get off it is when dad was taking the big boat out fishing.
My friend who lives on a lake, has a pedal boat, only it’s not this one it’s a sunrise dolphin boat. We just took it out to the lake yesterday. When get tired we just rest our feet and let the wind and waves drift us around. Yes it’s only a lake but it’s the largest lake in his town and their are a lot of boats out on the lake so the waves and turbulence that come off from the boats vibrate across the lake and push the pedal boat closer to shore. Also the water gets waves on windy days which also helps to move the boat. Pedal boats are not built for speed more so for a leisurely cruise around the lake so if your looking for a fast boat, I wouldn’t suggest a pedal boat but if you want a boat that goes slower and wanna enjoy the scenery a pedal boat may be right for you. He laps has two kayaks that we use but I like the pedal boat better since it’s more spacious and can fit 4 or 5 people. One time after work we took our boss for a ride on the pedal boat and he had fun, said he couldn’t wait to tell everyone at work about the fun adventure with his employees 😂
I understand about you getting rid of the paddle boat. We've had the same paddle boat since 93. My brother and I always went out on paddle boat as kids. Our lighter weight which helps. It gets used once a year now a days. I drive the paddle, while my mom and brother swim across the lake alongside of the paddle boat.
Yep, I had one for 16yrs.... sat for 14yrs until the sun exposure taking it out of storage each summer made the plastic brittle. Crushed it up and slowly got it gone in the garbage can.
Got one given to me several years ago. Bought the replacement rudder and never put it on. Now wanting to get it together for me and my grandsons. We plan to visit (camp) state parks and think this might be fun. Have to build a trailer for it.
I’m still choosing to get a pedal boat because I found a nice one that seats 4 adults (800lbs), has a canopy and a good spot for a cooler. I live across the street from my lake and I can take more people out on the water with me than a 12ft boat.
I always wondered why they don’t build these with a prop instead of paddles… would be a lot smoother and likely faster. Could even incorporate a few gears for those wanting to really exercise their legs a go faster.
I had a peddle boat when I was a kid I absolutely loved the thing fished from it all the time it was a shame I was growing out of it then someone stole it
Coincidentally, I was looking through marketplace and saw some pedal boats. I know they aren’t the most exciting things that you never get sick of but they seemed cool. 5 minutes later I’m on CZcams seeing this video. This upload was well planned!
Hey My Friend how’s it going great video! I feel for you man I have kids too and I can tell you that the problem is not with the pedal-boat, the problem it is our kids. This generation does not understand all language. For Today’s generation if it isn’t a smart phone it isn’t fun…. But I am with you I wish I had one of those I love them. 👍👊🏼
To be fair (we have a pedal boat too), if we would have to take it on trailer to the water and back every single time we probably wouldn't use it that much, too. But ours stays in the lake for the complete season, and the we just put it out of the water. So I can easily drive there with my bike or roller a few minutes to enjoy a few hours reading/relaxing or riding around with friends
A small 5hp motor and power it up, clutch on the little lawn mower motor and bicycle chain to a sprocket on one of the paddles option of where you sit to drive it it'd be a good weight balance and you don't have to battle and when you do shut the motor up you can still go reverse and four because the clutch on the motor Its a half assd idea
@@WayneTheBoatGuy I seen a fella who live 30 miles from the main road, and had a pond in his backyard and that's what he had geared up it worked pretty good for what it was
I've gotten mine all tricked out best boat for me small fishing holes , my weigh 100 lbs . Yours lot more heavy than mine . I've got rod holders on mine easy in and out.
Can you pls post the link to your first video when you bought it? My daughter and I want a motor less boat (2 women seeking simplicity) - we want to take it in the back canals leading to st Lucie River- yes with alligators 😬 I’d be open to your opinion regarding this boat with alligators!!! Thank you!
In this video, Wayne, the wizard of boats, who is not from Oz, basically says that pedal boats will never be practical until they can be made lighter. And I, the Tin Man, respond:. "But I still want one!"

I recently took one out first time in over 15 years. First 30 seconds was a hoot, got a little wake going 🌊. Then leg cramps…. 😫
everyone thinks their kids will enjoy using these and they end up being shoreline ornaments here in the great north woods.
LOL - yup!

Couldn't disagree more, growing up the paddleboat at the cottage was always in use and always faught over by the cousins.

Bye bye heavy little boat. Was nice to see you cleaned. Enjoy your new life.

That's a good reason!
Hope she finds a loving home that will use her. Goodbye Pedals.

Get a 14ft v hull aluminum boat
That would be nice!
@@WayneTheBoatGuy I just picked up a mint condition 1998 14ft duroboat. Will make a video about it soon.
Gosh memories trolling and fishing off the paddle boat as a kid. It was epic.

As a serious fisherman if I was getting rid of my boat it would only be to get another so I guess I agree

This has the highest seats of any peddle boat I have seen. Including mine.
Yeah a lot of the newer ones are much lower

Need a new project? Maybe you should try building a boat from plans in an old issue of popular mechanics or popular science?
I am guessing that you posted the drawbacks of a peddle boat of this shape and mass..... after it was sold. ;-)
😂
Remember when to brought it home , and showed your wife. But you made sense with your words. Sometimes us boat owners just have to make the choice...
I would like to see an inflateible personal pontoon with a small gas motor.
Hmmm - interesting!
They are so slow they act like a sail when the wind blows it will push u across the lake and u can’t paddle it back
Love itt it real nice

The foam has to be saturated for it to be that heavy.
I actually checked the Adventureglass website and a new 4 person model weighs 230 lbs. So even without any saturation, these things are heavy!
where can i find a outboard motor
That's an open ended question - but new and used ones are out there!
Its very heavy.....200lbs???????
It's heavier than I thought it would be!
okay.... im sellin my pedal boat... lol
Best day is when you buy a boat.... second best day is when you sell the boat... Why? So you can buy a bigger boat of course... Have a great day! 😊
Get a kayak!! Start fishing!
Get a jet ski
