There were a couple of Not The Nine O'Clock News sketches where he did it including one where he plays a Geordie copper. Always loved hearing Rowan do it, being from South Shields myself, as so few people could do the accent properly. Rodney Bewes and Harry Enfield certainly couldn't! The reason why he did it rarely is, I suspect (as it was the case most of the time in the 70s and early 80s till Auf Wiedersehen Pet came along) because the bias of television was always towards Southern audiences and ensuring they could understand what's being said. Controversial....but obvious to anyone from the North East!!
Ooh, an Atkinson bit I'd never seen. Excellent!
When u think you've seen all of Atkinson's videos!
How TF did I never see this video before? It's been here for 12 years and I only saw it just now?
He was 29 years old when this was filmed! 😊
cute as always ♥ I adore him and his beautiful voice :)
Thanks for the video
Omg 😱 how did I miss this video these days
About the only time I've heard Rowan Atkinson talking in a North East accent... Which is weird considering he's from the North East.
