- The weather windows to cross the Gulf of Mexico in December have been few and far between, especially for an overnight crossing. But Chris and our good friend Daryl, find an almost perfect window and set off on a journey of more than 24 hours, something Chris has been looking forward to since we bought Thataway almost two years ago. There's a lot of planning that goes in to this crossing but if you've done all the hard work beforehand, then the crossing itself should bring few surprises. Thanks for watching!

Glad to hear that all went well with the crossing. Clearwater will be the start of all the beaches and shallow water and reading the tides. But no more locks.

Great crossing! Hope Sandra can get the anxiety under control to enjoy parts of the trip. There will be times it is kinda scary out there.
They had a great time! I was happy that they enjoyed themselves. I am working on the anxiety. There are many parts I love which is great! We have both learned that we are both happier if we accept that sometimes I won't want to be on the boat and instead of fixing me we solve the challenge of getting all three of us to where we need to be. It is working our well so far. That is not to say that I am not going to try to stretch my boundaries!

Daryl is so funny! Love him to bits. I don't mention his wife Tracy in this episode but she has been such a support for me through a lot of this loop. They are gold loopers so she has given me a lot of perspective as the spouse of a guy who loves to boat the way Chris does.

I do not know the answer to that! I'll get Chris to comment on it in the next few days....wait...was that the Fish Haven section?
Not sure what you are seeing on the plotter? There are wreck symbols that kind-of look like fish and also the tide indicators. If you send me a jpeg of what you are looking at specifically, as I am not sure what you are looking at.
Sandra, where did you go in Crystal River to watch the manatees? Did you just walk there? Wasn’t sure if it was Three Sisters Springs or which one. Appreciate any info. Thank you.
Three sisters. I took the bus over before realizing it was about a km walk. I think I paid $20? I can't recall.

You did the big bend?
No it was an overnight crossing. They pulled in a bit closer to shore in the beginning to avoid some potentially rough water in a straight line trajectory. They were within 20 nm of shore on occasion. They "aimed" for landmarks and points often associated with the Big Bend to stay out of the middle.
All due respect, your wife needs to learn all the “positions” of the boat in case something should happen to you!
"With all due respect" do not tell a man what his partner needs to do. That partner is uniquely positioned to know what is best for them.
