I discuss with you why you shouldn't lower your prices and why you shouldn't low-ball. www.amazon.com... - Jak na to + styl
George your videos are timeless. Great content that is true for years.
There will always be people that'll pay for quality. Thanks a lot George.
your correct and very welcome my friend.
Great video George!
thanks Daniel
love your videos. You tel it like it is.
Always!
I agree with you 100% George...People need to stick with there prices. So they can afford to live, upgrade, fix, maintain equipment. Maintain and repair trucks and trailers. Pay insurances, bills and save for future investments. I say who cares what the other guy is doing it for. One thing people wont have up on you is your work ethic and quality of work. Low ballers in any industries wont survive for long period!!!
spot on brother spot on !
I agree with you on that
Awesome tips. One other thing is that when you lowball customers they pretty much know they are going to get a half ass job. That's the reason I don't do this also.
and also a video of your behind-the-scenes operations
ill try to do this for you .
Great video George! I lost a customer last week. It was a $35 small yard in town which is the going rate for our area. She said that some 17yr old came by and said he could do it for $20. I almost busted out laughing because she said my prices are way to high. Of course he can do it cheaper. Probably doesnt have insurance or pays taxes or a mortgage...etc. I know he has to start out somewhere but he should charge more $.
+Keith Dougherty he can't mow lawns with broken legs.
common now fellas . lol I just got out and not going back !
stick to your guns bro.
Keith Dougherty that's bullshit
No body likes a low baller. I actually had a customer tell me the other day their neighbor was getting their yard done for 30$ why am I charging 50$. First off my customers yard is almost twice and big with an extra ditch to weed eat, second the neighbors yard looks like hell with hacked up edging and burnt grass and so on. I just told my customer you walk outside and look at his yard compared to his neighbors and then told him please do not compare us to other companies that do bad work and that he did not have to use us if he was not happy with our service. In the end he apologized and stayed with us. Moral of the story don't take crappie off any customers and stick to your guns. If your doing quality work you can charge quality prices. Check us out on CZcams. Good videos George.
THANKS AND I WILL BRO
G Packard Good deal.
I used to delivery building supplies to new home construction sites. When the laborers were white/black americans, they would sit there and watch me unload drywall as they smoked and drank coffee. On mexican labor sites, the mexicans would be waiting for me. They would form a "daisy chain" to unload the drywall FOR ME and start hanging the drywall as it came off the truck. Any business owner who would see this difference would naturally want to hire mexicans over Americans. It's a no-brainer. And if you don't pay them less you have a good chance of keeping them.
I like the beer money comment. I took over a job on my road 6 hours a week all year round garden maintenance. Their old guy retired and I gave my hourly rate and they said it's a lot higher than what the previous guy charged. But they took it and 3 years later I still have the job. I worked with the old guy at the job to see the garden and he was slow. So youth helps. Thanks for your videos.
yeah bro sooner or later we all get slower. remember this : the slower you move the quicker you die !
Hi George love ur videos ... watch them whilst eating lunch in my van ... Thanks Ian from the UK
I totally agree, I have a well established business in NY and on my Wednesday route there's a "fellow lawn guy" that charges $15 for 35-40 dollar lawns. I've already lost 2 yard to this douche bag but the customer wants me back due to his shitty work. Other guys around here are saying the same. The IRS will be called on this douche to get him out. He's not even a legal operator in NY. These guys take my money for bills and for winter cost. I understand they have to start some where but they need to know the market price which they don't. Thanks- Tim.
+Tim Kenyon
hey Tim, thanks for sharing . I think the main problem is their not educated as too our system of doing business ( the current market rate ) all we can do is maybe approach them someday and maybe ask them to watch some of my videos regarding lowballers. maybe then they'll get the picture. maybe not, just throwing it out there ? otherwise maybe time will tell them, but that is a long and slow process that hurts everybody !
+G Packard Hey thanks for the video i learned alot of this. yep im sorta of a low baller but i had bad equipment but i didnt half ass the jobs i live in a small town and i got 10 customers and theres about 40-50 houses in my town and i think thats pretty good i started out charging around 25-35 a lawn and soon as i kept working and saving i started to buy some new equipment and starting charging more on the lawns that i spent more time on. so far i got a truck but no liscnese yet lol only 15 and half i got a decent sized trailer i pull behind my riding mower around town with a John Deere d110 with bagger 2 pair of Husquavarna push mowers Commerical and 1 troybuilt mower also somewhat commerical ig. and 4 troybuilt 4cycle weed whackers and craftsman leafblower. but i dont think im making much money but i also work at a machine shop in town so that helps pay for equipment. but on the other hand i just love mowing grass and fixing mowers and working on my truck and what not so it doesnt really matter to me but sometimes it gets to me that im not making that much.
+G Packard I totally agree Mr Packard!
Picked up 3 clients on the same street this week after the very low priced lawn guy just disappeared. Happens every year.
boy aint that the truth. like i said SLOW GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE !
George, don't hate the low-ballers. They make everyone else look good. That said, low income customers are only going to seek lowballers, usually can't pay and you can never upsell them so let the lowballers have those customers.
Thats why i opted getting into more technical work like irrigation and pest control which there are less lowballers than in lawn care its ridiculous!
+Javier Perez
i believe you have a valid point. We due irrigation also and it seems that most irrigation contractors seem to stick together on there pricing.
can u do a video on how you estimate new accounts
gotta be more specific .
Never mow too low! Cheap prices atract cheapskates.
right on bro !
love your vids Papa G thank you and God bless!
My lowest I charge is $20 I won't budge from that
atta boy
True that I'm not working for only gas money ... I pray for the low baller and the cheap skates
I feel the same very good, you have to be this way if you want a future in business! Lol going out of business sale thats where you will be for realz if you low ball !!!
right on james
Cheapskates are very bad customers. Thank you very much George.
(my mentor told me to charge 50/hr if working by myself and 95/hr if i have an employee.) i feel like employing 1 person would make me a lot more money.
+David Mecca because i think i can get twice amount of accounts (money) and there is a mental factor, when i work with someone i feel slightly less mental stress and much much less physical exsaughtion. i already trust the person i would hire.
good for you . confidence is always good. if your nervous people pick up on that .
it certainly can and will if you do it right ?
Hi mr Packard what is a good man per hour charge ? I'm in Los Angeles county. Thanks
Brother i don't know ? i would tell you if i did. ask your neighbors what there paying ?
I wonder what would be the best time to do lawn aeration, right now its sort of heading into winter in this part of the world. Would not be a good time to dethatch? I started to do lawn aeration with a garden fork but its just too much to do need some sort of a machine for it.
the best times are usually in the spring just as the grasses are starting to turn green
ok thanks that's about 3 or 4 months away here. Will also hit the lawn with weed and feed at the same time. I am hoping I can rent a lawn aeration machine.
The only problem I have with this video is because you are charging top dollar, but in your videos, we have seen your quality is not top quality. How can you justify the cost when your work that you even said is not up to par?
First off i'm not charging top dollar . yes i had decided to show you the ugly side of my business. I did so, so that you could see we are not perfect. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANYONE ELSE DO THIS ? i THINK NOT ! we are supposed to do a perfect job and when i bid it that is my intention. I cannot always control LAZY F*** EMPLOYEES ! hows that for your answer ?
So George, why don't you tell us how you feel about low ballers??? Funny stuff man but true!
i tell it like i see it bro
You should see license enforcement in China. If you're ever there just find a group of "Low Ballers" and watch them scatter and get arrested and hauled off on the spot for operating without a license. If the US did the same I bet we'd see a 75% reduction in operators in our city. I have video clips, but they may offend customers.
Not to mention they confiscate equipment and impound them as well.
f*** that lets see em !
bro u dont provide anything different just a guy on youtube tryna act like ur better than errbody else !!! bro save it
and your an ungrateful idiot
