I remember using Microsoft Publisher 97 from an HP Quick Start CD-ROM released in 1996. It was fun to use it on Windows XP back in the mid 2000s. More recently, I collected Microsoft Publisher 98 as part of a lot of vintage Microsoft software (including Microsoft Plus! 98) on eBay in April 2022. It was very interesting.

I remember discovering Microsoft Publisher during the Office 2003 era when they replaced Office XP on the school computers in the mid-2000s. My old Windows 98 computer had Office 97 installed on it which got upgraded to Office 2000.

Yup. Clippy made his debut in Office 97 along with other Office Assistants like The Dot, Office Logo, and Mother Nature that made their way in later versions of Microsoft Office.

And by the this is the first version with Clippy. And plus do you know that there going to be a full moon next Thursday?

It surely is. Even though we all know that Clippit a.k.a Clippy was introduced in the Office 97 suite, as much as we know that Office 2003 being the last version to have Clippy.

Given that Word and PowerPoint can do most of the things that Publisher once could do, it would make sense why Microsoft would retire the software this decade.

I remember using Publisher a lot in high school with Office 2003 on the school computer to brochures.

Microsoft is unfortunately considering to retire Microsoft Publisher. It may not be as robust as Adobe InDesign, but it is nice to make signed other simple desktop publishing

I've read about it. I've used it many times when I was in high school to make brochures.

So this software was released in the same year as Windows 98?

It was released in late 1997 before Windows 98. Publisher 98 is a revision of Publisher 97 that came with the revised version of the Small Business Edition of Microsoft Office.
