The 'fool some people' verse was sung by Peter Tosh, who was a member of the Wailers but not of Bob Marley & the Wailers, which was a construct of their publisher/producer Chris Blackwell. At this time, the Wailers were Marley, Tosh and Neville 'Bunny' Livingston (later known as Bunny Wailer) backed by what was essentially the house band of a Kingston studio. After their album, Burnin', Tosh and Livingston became disillusioned with Blackwell's vision for the band, which was to target a rock audience and 'enhance' their music at the mixing stage using rock musicians. Both left to pursue solo careers and their vocals were replaced by Marley's wife, Rita, Judy Mowatt and Marcia Griffiths, collectively a sub-group called the I-Three(s). All three were recording artists in their own right with Griffiths the best known of the three outside Jamaica for being one half of Bob and Marcia (with Bob Andy R.I.P.), whose biggest hit was a cover of Young, Gifted & Black. Peter Tosh was murdered in a home invasion robbery in 1987.
TRIVIA: The I-Three(s) signature backing vocals started with the BM&W album that followed Burnin', Natty Dread, but they weren't the first female Wailers. The original ska-era (circa 1963) Wailers featured local Trench Town teenagers Beverley Kelso and Cherry Smith.

Enoma. Should you ever decide to react to "No Woman No Cry", may I ask two things. First, investigate the possibility of reacting to the studio version from the album, Natty Dread. The version most people seem to know was recorded live in concert. Naturally it has that atmosphere but I feel like people will have missed out if they never hear the more languid studio version. Secondly, the title No Woman No Cry is kind of a mistake. I've come across people who interpret it as if when there is no woman then there is no crying. The second 'no' in the title has a shortened vowel, which changes its meaning to "don't". A Jamaican writing in their pidgin (which is common even in newspapers and literature) would write "No Woman, Nuh Cry" (No Woman, Don't Cry) as Marley sings throughout. If you both said it correctly when introducing the song it might well be a CZcams first. I've certainly never heard a non-West Indian get it right.
