- Welp, I figured it was about time I return to the classic Powerpuff Girls series once again! Been meaning to come back to this one again and after recently completing my video on the trilogy of Ed Edd n Eddy handheld titles, I figured I'd do something similar for the three Gameboy Color games that were released for the Powerpuff Girls all the way back in the year 2000.
I know people have wanted me to make a PPG video again, so I figured why not! I think for the sake of keeping the PPG interest alive on my channel, I'm not going to be reviewing every single Powerpuff Girls video game all at once like I intend to with other cartoon franchises. I think it might be better if I spread them out instead, that way people can still expect a PPG video of some sort every few months that way I don't run out of videos to make too quickly haha; I think that's a pretty fair compromise that will make everyone happy. Hope you enjoy the video more than I enjoyed playing these games!

If the PPG had limited flight powers in the show, that's definitely a weakness the villians would exploit.

I remember Jaidenanimations talking about her experience with Battle Him and she said she had a really hard time with it. I still want it though because you play as Bubbles (my girl 💙) and I have yet to own any original Powerpuff Girls games..

Actually, several years before Shadow Streak, a guy from Cartoon Review reviewed all three games. I even wrote comments on both videos. The channel has reviewed practically every Cartoon Network game, and is doing the same for Nickelodeon. Check him out.

You know, with the gaming industry being all about remakes and reboots (though, not in every case for all publishers and developers)... why not look at these three games and rebuild them from the ground up?
With today's technology, who knows what could be done with these and other games starring the Powerpuff Girls?
Imagine if there was a PPG game where the girls have to split up and have their own adventure then come together at the end to combat a MAJOR threat...
Like each girl gets their own story stopping a villain
Bad Mojo Jojo was the very first videogame I ever owned. Still have it to this day although it wasn't very good. Also have Paint the Townsville Green and Battle Him.
Also Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons for the GBC did the same thing when it came to linking and secrets, but the games were far better than The Powerpuff Girls Trilogy.
@8:07 Actually Shadow, the game have checkpoints if you lose a life. A checkpoint occurs when you obtain a key, rescue a victim, and/or defeat the boss of the level.
The best part of this game is the hurt sprite of the girls. Looks like they’re not injured, just severely ashamed.
7:59 Apparently the game developers in the original series, Blossom had ice breath like similar to Superman (whose super breath could freeze stuff sometimes), and they didn't even decide to, I don't know, make it so she could have that power to make the game more playable and closer to the show!!
I know it's technically not part of a TV show aside from an NBC rerun or whatever
But may take a look at Larryboy and the Bad Apple from PS2 and GBA?
When was veggietales on ABC, I heard there were some NBC reruns, but certainly not ABC

Well, there is one moment I remember from the original Powerpuff Girls where they got beat up by normal humans which was in the episode "Twisted Sister" when Bunny freed all the prisoners, and the PPGs couldn't stop them all because there were too many, and it lead to them being ganged up on. Thinking back to that scene, I feel they could have easily escaped using their laser eyes and flight.
They were probably feeling overwhelmed plus don’t they usually beat up super villains?😅
It probably was them being overwhelmed. Unlike these games where they can easily be defeated by *one* guy lol
Just watching the controls is awful but at least its not a reskin of elevator action or a mini game collection. I'd suggest cartoon network racing for the ps2, its not half bad

Well My Disney Kitchen is one of the best computer games ever lol! I used to play that with my sister all the time as a kid haha
I remember having the Buttercup game back then. I played it for a short while and got bored. XD
4:39 Blossom travels to Toy Story.
I've seen this game multiple times and every time I see it, the worse it looks. I always felt like a 2D PPG would play or be designed somewhat similarly to Kirby Game. Heck I could imagine being able to switch to the other girls during stages like in the later Megaman X Games or even Sonic Heroes. I feel a game like that would be awesome but when it comes to this game, well Say La Vi.
Try em for yourself, as I can't say the same about Relish Rampage as I have not played it myself, but you might find that in Him and Seek, RR, and Defenders of Townsville. Although, I do think the girls share the same healthbar, so uhhh
Childhood games. i remember grabbing all 3 of them as a kid being a PPG fan. couldn't remember if i did beat them or not, did remember the game being hard. good times.

I think I had both Battle Him and Paint Townsville Green as a kid and can definitely recall not getting very far in either of them. I'd have trouble finding more Chemical X after running out or restart again and again after dying.
Saying that the tree games are pretty much the same after talking about the original Pokemon games as if they weren't the same game three times over is pretty ballsy I've gotta say

I have strangely vivid memories about this game
I remember breaking my copy of battle him but putting it into my regular game boy and turning it on. Even if it was in my gameboy color it would glitch out after a certain level and say it needs to be in a gameboy color and crash after that

Dexters Laboratory: Robot Rampage was on GB color, and it was much longer. They could easily got the 3 games onto 1 cartridge.
These games need a reboot badly. With better controls, mechanics, and no limit on flying.
I get that video games need to limit their characters' abilities to make them more challenging, but from what I'm seeing here, it looks poorly done. They could've at least had the villains somehow drain the girls of some of their powers, like that ray gun Mojo and Princess made in that one episode, and just work from there.
Speaking of Pokémon, which ones do you think the girls would own, and which starter would they pick?
Well Bubbles would pick the water type no questions asked--I feel like Buttercup might go for fire given her more destructive tendencies, whereas Blossom would choose grass. Maybe... Lol that's my best guess.

What'd make for a fun PPG Game?
The only one I didn't get was Battle Him and as a child I was pissed since Bubbles is my fav

Perhaps if they did more to distinguish the games, level, and playable characters, then it could have worked. But I can't justify separating what is literally same game into three different versions that are barely distinguished from one another. At least with Pokémon, the gimmick of having two versions was meant to encourage trading and provide a more personalized experience for the player. As with Sonic Heroes, even if all the levels are the same, at least it's all in one game and the difficulty levels for each team is different (Hero- Normal Dark- Hard Rose- Easy Chaotix- Mission-Based) It would have been a simple fix, but in the end, it's clear the games were made as a cash grab like most other licensed games at the time.
Battle Him! in particular is virtually impossible to 100%.

oh I see now. The 2016 PPG writers only had the gameboy color games to go off of when they made the show.
I remember seeing those games from Club Nintendo magazines (the Mexican version of Nintendo Power magazines) when I was a kid. They look like promising games. But thank god I didn't buy them since I don't have a GBC at the time. I was surprised that nobody considered them as one of the worst video games of all time. Like E.T. the Extra-Terrestial, Superman 64, and even Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero.

So between publishers and developers, if a development company makes bad games while the publisher has otherwise good games (or at least a balance) that means that development team lacks talent generally; since Bam! was a publisher and generally published low quality crap, that likely means every team under Bam! was given little time to develop the product and had low incentives (low pay, overworked, stressed out, etc).
And hoo boy these games look like steaming garbage: the overworld graphics look a bit under par, the character sprites are awful (they're too small, as if they designed a decent sprite in mspaint but had to erase the outside border a few times), the music is nails on chalkboard (trust me, I went to listen to it, it really does match the rest of the game's quality), and I can just feel how awful those controls are from watching your video. All of this wrapped in the foil of a cheap marketing gimmick to make a quick buck.
I mean, even though there's a solid point to be made about pokemon's versioning being a cheap marketing gimmick (I'd argue it was a method to get it more advertising via the customers, aka kids, wanting their friends to buy other versions to trade and battle), the point of Pokemon is at least, the POKEMON. Unless connecting these games meant new levels or playing together with friends, the ppg games were never gonna have a reason to be split.
I didn't like Bad Mojo JoJo, or Battle Him. Out of the three Paint The Townsville Green is the easiest one out of all three games. There are differences in all three games actually
I think you're being a bit harsh in regards to the "cutscenes". I grew up glued to my GBC as a kid and that was pretty much how all games were. I think in regards to that element, you were overly harsh and it paints a picture that you hated these games so much any aspect of them you'll criticise to ensure your point is gotten across, when that isn't necessary. Those "cutscenes" were par for the course. Any animation was pretty limited - look at the introduction in the G1 Pokemon games. It wasn't ANIMATED. it was a handful of frames. So I conclude thinking you didn't grow up playing the Gameboy Color otherwise you wouldn't have pointed out the "cutscenes" as something specific to this PPG trilogy.

the powerpuff girls gbc games is a piece of trash, the gameplay is a complete worst, the bosses are very mediore and bad, the enemies are very dull to kill, the soundtrack sounds like a mediore videogame music, worst controls, plain-lazy level design, the lava can't kill the powerpuff girls whatsoever but unlike the lava, the water can kill the powerpuff girls for a angry way, the bosses take a lot of hits to die, worst graphics, both 3 games have exact same gameplay, exact same bosses and etc, well, the powerpuff girls games for the gbc is a piece of trash, so please don't play these powerpuff girls gbc games because they are very bad.
