Girl if it makes you feel any better, you aren't going to believe this but something so similar to your story happened to me. The only good thing I can think about this...now we recognize the warning signs. They all seem to say and do the same things when they try to manipulate us to keep us around. Let's take it slow, we just need some space, i love you or flirtatious breadcrumbs scattered sparsely without much else communication. Mine used the line "I just need to get my head right ". Swore up and down he wasn't seeing anyone else 😂 then got into a relationship

Just got into a breakup of two years and some months. He WAS my bestfriend. I realized through the argument that led to the break up that I needed to choose me. Yassss this happened to me too and I'm in the 2nd year. I can say in retrospect that my main problem was trying to be friends after liking him but i realized that we're humans and we can't switch on and switch back off when we want to. I've moved on but because I gave myself space, he and I are really close friends to this day. I just think it's best to not always have that as the end goal though.
