  • www.ridingman.com - You've read the reviews, asked friends, had a test ride. Still, it's nice to get a second opinion. Mark Gardiner has reviewed bikes for Road Racer X magazine, Motorcyclist, and MO. Here's his Summary Judgment. Featuring Mark Gardiner and the voice of Mary Pinizzotto

I fully tested that bike for 3 weeks 2 up touring across Europe and totally agree with you Mark. Suspension adjustment was handy to. Heated seats and grips were a life saver one day in the Alps. I've also posted 4 videos of my ride it on my profile.

The BMW shop loaned me one of these, while they figured out a fuel pump problem on my 07 RT, and I hated to take it back. It’s a great bike!

Four years ago I posted here and suggested the GT was awesome. I change bikes like some people change underwear, yet I still have the GT 4 years later.

Four years on and I still have mine.
Done 60,000 miles now and still feels great.
The gearing suits the torque of the engine perfectly...just put it into 6th and twist....no lag ...just instant overtake.
Its big yes, but great through town because its well balanced.
Economical too.. (250 miles per tank..when I'm well behaved)
Now, what do I get when we hit 100,000 ?

Robert Adkins Well, as I said I tended to change bikes all the time. I get bored quick. But not this. It's now five years I have had this. There was just nothing on the market to compare, not by my standards at least. Nothing to replace it with. That motor is a gem, brakes and handling, comfort all spot on. Shame about the clutch though.
Anyway, it's going up for sale this year and I'll be very sad to see it go and somebody will be very lucky in getting a beautifully clean full option K1300GT.
Always liked the adventure style bikes but none of them really ticked the boxes. The Honda's and Suzuki's were OK but not very exciting, the Multistrada was not happy unless you ride it like a loony, the boxer twins never really did it for me.
Now, we have the S1000XR. I know the engine from the S1000R and it's a gem. BMW will really have to do something very stupid if this new model is anything less that superb. It will still be a sad day when I hand the GT's keys over.

I posted my opinion of this bike three years ago, just below. I get bored quickly and money is no object. I still have the BMW because there is NOTHING on the market that would have me selling this bike. To buy what????!!
To the guys looking at an RT, GREAT bike! I have one of those as well. ;-) Light, nimble, comfortable and not slow at all. It's not a blackbird or K1300GT, but in the real world it's quick enough for most sane folk and it goes around corners better than most riders can.
To the guys on a budget, get a Blackbird. It's just a fantastic bike. Build quality is better than BMW and looked after it will last forever. I had the great pleasure of bringing a broken one back from the dead. No shame in being seen on a blackbird. That said, my BMW, three years after making my last post, is still not for sale. ;-) Ride safe guys.......

Does anyone know if you can fit a K1300S rear wheel on the K1300GT?

Damn. I was all set for a R1200 RT and then I watched this? Blond or brunette?
    No lose situation.

MrImApig Looking at one right now 2010. I ask do you still have this model and if so how is it working out for you. Any mechanical issues that should be looked for. Thank you.
