Many authors have their own distinctive sound and visual that they want to highlight and separate from the mainstream, creating another category.
So please, take subgenres as loose terms and dont use them as a ultimate reference point.

The Darkcore ones are so hypnotizing, Aphex Twin got me into DnB. It was the song Come to Daddy lol awesome video brother, didn't realise there was so many different types of DnB

Apparently grooverider got me into dnb. Once upon a time i was composing random music on music 2000 psx and i was amazed by Where is Jack the Ripper lol.

Does Liquid Funk also fall under "Liquid DnB'? Sounds pretty similar from the example posted. Also, would Autonomic Sound fall under DnB? It sounds more like Electronica imo. (im not knowledgable on this genre and just looking to learn). Thanks for posting

If you're still answering questions, what would you say is the genre of the first half of The Number Song by DJ Shadow? (I don't even know if it fits under DnB though tbh.) Thanks!!
I have to admit that the only thing I ever heard from DJ Shadow was the Endtroducing album. So fortunately I also heard this song because it is on this album :) Whole album is a phenomenal mix of downtempo and trip hop, cut-up DJ-ing and lots of sampling which uses broken beats here and there. Of course not everything that contains broken beats is automatically drum and bass, but quite a few people have this association (breakbeat - jungle - dnb).
DJ shadow is similar to Aphex Twin and Autechre in some aspects, we would simply classify them as "experimental electronic music".

True, but I think I mentioned in the video that jungle was rather the predecessor of drum and bass. Of course, I personally know that jungle and dnb are not the same, but sometimes I simplify and generalize. Unfortunately, people like to pounce on everything that someone says.

Jungle is its own genre but they are very similar but also very different
more or less yes. But basically there is no generally accepted semantic difference between the terms "jungle" and "drum and bass".
I take these concepts as a historian. Jungle is part of the rave-techno scene of the late 80s and early 90s, and drum and bass is an evolutionary branch of jungle. The common distinguishing feature of both is the derivation of breaks and modulation of bass.
That's just my personal view of the issue.
So what genre do songs like "Yearning VIP" from Apex fit in? Kinda got that Neurofunk vibe but also fits liquid DnB but also a bit jungly?
I loveee the style of DnB from people like Goldie, DIllinja, LTJ, Peshay, etc. the modern jumpup and foghorn crap just isnt for me lol
What subgenre is the song 'Posse Deep' by Gravy. Would love to listen to more like that, but non of these quit hit the nail on the head
Thanks for comment. It sounds like a rapper experimented with amen break :) Bones style ambient melody and jungle amen breaks. If I had to forcefully put it in some of these subgenres, darkcore with subtle hints of rap. Some rappers experiment with different genres, like scarlxrd, bones, ghostemane and many others.

surprised you didn't include Technoid (from my understanding Limewax makes this type of dnb [Fuck the labels is a banger], although correct me if im wrong), Deep, halftime and whatever the fuck S.P.Y makes which is kinda bouncy but deep and dark.
Subgenres are odd cause for 1 person a subgenre might sound like a different subgenre to another person, it's hard to agree to disagree on some of these, like for example when you showed crossbreed what would you consider something like what Counterstrike makes to be? Cause its not really crossbreed but not exactly neuro, I've always saw that as Technoid personally but idk maybe I'm wrong.
eh i wouldn't consider dead dred - dred bass oldschool jump up imo, for me oldschool jump up was the shit dillinja would make in the early 2000's tbh but if we really going oldschool then Krust - Warhead has to be one of the first oldschool jump up tunes

the jungle was quite repetitive, long songs and a bit boring, but it had to start somehow. Goldie Timeless era was legendary.
5:49 funk, jazz, and techno…? Where do you hear that??? I’ve listened to a bunch of Billain and Noisia, and I do not hear any elements remotely close to these genres in Neurofunk
lol and you only listen to Billain and Noisia? Some of my friends, who just recently started listening to some commercial dnb like Pendulum and Noisia, also told me that it's like combining rock music with techno. No jazz, no avant-garde, no funk. I tell them that drum and bass is not only Pendulum and Noisia. These are the groups that introduce you to drum and bass.
Noisia is quite straightforward in their sound, they haven't experimented much with other genres, if I don't count their debut album Split the Atom and the OST for DMC. Noisia have had their own niche style since the album Resonance I and many people consider it a staple of a good, production-quality hybrid of drum and bass and dubstep, but they are not a typical representative of neurofunk, they just make good use of the stabbing bassline in their style. The stabbing bassline is only a current, modern trademark of neurofunk, but neurofunk has been developing since the nineties, and when you listen to the beginnings of neurofunk, you might hear elements of jazz and funk: czcams.com/video/wOjGpm6-xU0/video.html
Why do you think it's called neuroFUNK? It had groovy, funky vibes, but darker atmospheric than the classic funk of the 70s.

@@JustJitters yes, the evolution in both genres (dnb and dubstep) developed by leaps and bounds. I personally prefer a little more old school, but I like a lot of the new stuff (eg Burr Oak and Billain you mentioned).

Rollers are not a subgenre. It is a structure of bassline (or synth) and drum pattern in dnb song.
