      @@gregkocher5352 something to do with airbags being built into the seats themselves now. When you remove the seats the car thinks there's a fault in the airbag system and will disable the whole airbag system(with annoying notification). Someone did figure out how to bypass it but that takes a bit of time and messing it up could cause all the airbags to deploy.

    I had a 2022 sienna XLE AWD hybrid.
    Four adults. Full load. Rear was weighed down due to luggage.
    I was in the mountains of PA. I had zero issues. Plenty of power to accelerate. Same with the highway. Not loud either.
    Only issue was how soft the rear suspension is and how low the lift gate opens. I’d hit my head at 6’ 1”.

    this is how a minivan review should be done. I feel if I never need to seat more than 4 people (kids included) on the regular, the Sienna is my #1 choice, over a 3 row SUV even. Relatively affordable for the space you get, and its not like the comparable 3 row SUV's are super appealing either unless you're willing to pay way more, yet you still get way less space. But for access to the second and third row, sliding doors are the way to go.

  • @yazars
    @yazars Před 4 měsíci +1

    I have deposits at a few dealerships for a Sienna, but I also checked out the Kia Carnival today, and it was pretty nice. It'd take me 10-20 years to make back the >$5000 difference between a Sienna XLE AWD and Carnival SX in terms of gas mileage. Price difference is even greater for limited or platinum. The Carnival had many more features, e.g. 360 camera, blind spot camera, and ventilated seats, and is at least somewhat available, with a 2025 refresh and hybrid option coming. I also haven't heard anyone mention this, but the higher trim Siennas have about 2 inches less headroom when going in from the sliding doors where the ventilation controls dip down, and that is a noticeable difference.

      I also have a hybrid but i never look at it in terms of money savings. The biggest thing for me is the miles i get for the gas i put it. And the satisfaction that all the braking I do is being put back into the battery. Also, the quick and punchy acceleration you get off the line. If i want to save money, i would rather not waste on bar drinks and excessive doordashing for ordering food. Lol

      @@CarsTechWood check KBB for total cost ownership for 2024. Carnival is in demand and KBB estimates it will 1k less than sienna and Honda after 5 yrs. So the price difference is significant. Carnival also is dual injection and people have already hit more than 150k regularly. Sienna is a good van too. Everyone use case is different. Both are most sought and hot selling vans from last 2 yrs.

    After a two week long road trip in a small(ish) 2024 Honda CRV (rental), we have decided that we need a minivan again. We've had two minivans over the years and thought the last one would be . . . the last one, but since spending nearly two weeks on the road with both kids and a puppy traveling 3.2k miles, clearly a minivan is needed. I should've paid the extra $600 for a minivan as it would've made the trip so much better. Our personal car is getting older and had put about 25k miles a year on it the last two years, it is due for a timing belt and that vacation was a last minute decision and we were worried about going the Rockies several times.
    Edit: We are between the Kia, Honda, and Toyota. I am leaning on the Toyota for the MPG rating but honestly, the interior does not look that great for the front passengers. The KIA looks best all around and perhaps we will wait on more year to see what they have to offer with their hybrid. The only issue is, we would like to have AWD since we live in the snowbelt.

      Cheaper than a Suburban, Expedition, or Wagoneer that have similar seating capacity. Toyota commands a small premium in the van market over the odyssey, Pacifica, and carnival

      @jordenfoster The Sienna is well liked among those who can afford it and cheaper than the alternatives you mention. The problem remains the alternatives and the Sienna are out of the price range of most Americans. At least new. Give it a few years and depreciation on a Wagoneer might change that. 😂😂😂

    why are these in such high demand all of a sudden? i thought Americans were just fascinated with trucks & SUVs. Also, do consumers really want/need the flip down screen for rear passengers? Don't most people just use phones/tablets for entertainment? I think they should just eliminate those altogether
