The music the owner listens to is great. This Laguna 1 is one of the very best cars ever made. Modern design, safe for its time, fantastic engines & gearboxes (and performance), and spacious.
It reaches 193km/h as a real speed(202 on speedo), after 300000km mileage. Excellent durability, impeccable ergonomics.
It goes like a bullet. Give us more of this kind cars. Supercars are not interesant to ordinary people :D

It is doing over 200 on speedometer probably around 190 on gps but still good.

i used to drive one of these as a company car, it was a turbo-diesel, only 20km on the clock, brandnew. I maxed it out on my very first long trip between Paris and Rouen: 195km/h. Good times!

I drive a much faster and better car myself, but I m still interested in this video, because I liked Renaults in my childhood and its still impressive what manufacturers where capable of back in the days. Damn, I really love combustion engines of any kind. Theres really something to even the dumbest, slowest, and torn apart cars. As long as they are not EVs I m really interested... I like the Lagunas design and its pretty quick for a just above 100 hp car.

I recently purchased a V6 version of one of these, having seen it for practically nothing used (old French cars, especially old Renault's, are worth practically nothing in the UK), but I'm super-impressed with how well the 1.6 handles at that speed!
I had a 1997 1.8 RTI Sport - one of the best looking cars ever IMO. Great interiors too on these.
I've had laguna I 1998 1.8 120HP first car.

Back in 1998 I always wanted one of these !....a 3.0 v6 24v with nearly 200 hp ! .....I sort of grew out of it but always like this shape Renault Laguna as it is a good-looking car for a Renault !
Mine has done 330k km so I keep it at 110km/h. Paint work done recently, had the battery done, fuel injectors, sound system done a while ago and it drives like a dream. Super comfortable.
Basically, a 1.6 lt engine without turbo is designed to work until 600.000KM. Of course it depends on driver too.

I know this engine well, my mom has a clio saloon (was called platina here). It's a good engine,the only problem is that it's a spoiled brat.YOU HAVE to change the timing belt every 20 thousand km, otherwise it will snap and we all know what happens then (bent valves, etc). Ask me how i know, lol. That's a pain in the ass.

la verdad que aqui en argentina ese auto fue muy desvalorado por ese motor pequeño de 1.6 16v, pero me sorprendió no solo la velocidad final sino el equipamiento con el que se vendio alli,, techo eléctrico, 4 levanta vidrios, retrovisores eléctricos, aquí esa versión base venia con menos de la mitad de esas cosas, saludos desde Córdoba Argentina

The dad of a friend of mine had one, dark green. He gave us a spin on some nice deserted highway and believe or not, this car could do 190+ km/h with 5 of us on board. Renault made some kickass cars during the 90s.

I'm just starting with my driving license, but I also want to finish it quickly because I'm already 28 years old and since the video I really like the Renault Laguna. As long as the German autobahn still allows more than 130 km/h, you have to take advantage of it.

I have this but its 1995. Not bad but if you want this car be careful beacause there is a models that have engline of VOLVO. BE CAREFULL. And this car is very old and the parts are worn. I recommend you little new car. But if you want this car get a combi or Grandtour wagon because the trunk is HUGE. Good luck.

Buy the best MK1 manual you can (If you want a Laguna), don`t buy the MK2... The rival 406 is another good car.

The brake lines on my 1998 Laguna corroded due to rust and then failed

@@phlopped yeah, gotta stay on top of that, first thing I did when I bought a 18 old beater for a daily was checking the lines and replacing all the flexible hoses, stuff can look ok, but when you need it most and the pressure on the line is highest, that old dry rubber might just pop on you
Если это первая фаза, то ещё как увидишь. После рестайлинга, у второй фазы появился оцинкованный кузов. Практически без нареканий, у меня она все ещё работает. Как и у многих автомобилей 90х годов выпуска. Тойота Карина 92 годов все ещё ездят и не ржавеют.

Well I had the same type of Laguna with the 1.6 16v engine (new from 1999 till 2006) and I manage to drive several times 210 km/h on the German Autobahn. The trick is to switch of the Climate control otherwise I couldn`t reach 210 on the tacho.

Is very very fast for a 1.6... my 2.0 16v tops in arround 215 almost at the rev limiter, excellent stability and (in my case) very reliable and far cheaper than my other A3 in spare parts...

Renault engines are very good. This Laguna comes from the time Renault made good bigger cars, too. Successor was way less, lots of issues. In general French brands seem to make the best smaller cars, like Twingo, Clio, AX, 106, 205, etc.
Idk the XM, Safrane or 605 with some glitches are extremely good in comfort, equipment and performance too. Just don`t look automatic lol.

I always find it interesting to think about the physics behind being able to go over 100mph with a mere 100hp, but then requiring like 5 times that much to hit 200mph
funny how drag increases exponentially. which makes sense since the car is running across more and more air at once as it speeds up
