Hi Ruth,
Another way I found to share my dataflow without sharing the underlying workspace:
1. Create a new workspace
2. Create a dataflow in this new workspace, and select the parent dataflow containing entities I want to share -> This will create LINKED entities
3. Since LINKED entities cannot be shared with people who do not have access to the parent workspace (well, users can still see them but cannot load them), create a REFERENCE of those linked entities
4. Repeat steps 2-3 for all the entities you want to share
5. Save the dataflow
6. Share the new workspace with all the users who need an access to this new dataflow, and voilà!
People having access to this new workspace will be able to read data from those referenced entities. And if you enable loading of LINKED entities as well, all entities referencing them will get automatically updated as soon as the original entities from the parent dataflow get refreshed.
Not a very elegant solution I admit, but a good workaround when you need to share select dataflow/entities without having to share the full workspace.
Hope this helps!
Fred
Wonderful!!! Thanks a million for sharing :)

"You must have global administrator permissions to connect your organization's Azure Data Lake Storage account to Power BI".. i keep getting this error. How can i resolve this? i have global administrator rights on the subscription and the account which i use to log into powerbi
Thank you for your efforts !!! Great class.
Thank you for another expose, Ruth...
This one was tough! You only see 4 minutes but it took 3 hours to get it right!! 😳
I hope that now it is easy for everyone!!!

@@CurbalEN Wow!!! You're doing great job.
Hi Ruth, thanks for sharing looks I have a job for the weekend thanks for your video, however before I'll start is this available for Pro customers?
Yes, I did that on my pro account :)

Thanks nice information this is something I was looking for my clients business...👏,
Ruth one more question can we restrict the access to dataflow to end user something like RLS or using a parameter in power query online so once the user logs in they see only information which they are in titled for..?🤔
Yey!!
Not sure what you mean? Uses will consume the data in Power BI right? You can add RLS there?

I want to create dataflow with complete data, for all departments so the Junior should not see the higher management data. So can we restrict the access for individual users..?
Thank you. How can i use "Solver" in Power BI like used in Excel?
Don’t know what solver is, I am afraid,...

Hi Ruth,
Nice Video...very self explanatory..
I tried setting up a role assignment in storage account
but I do not get an option as power Bi Service while creating role assignment any thoughts
Try delete the filter on the search to All aplication
hi, thanks for this video! It seems like the process in Azure has changed. I can't manage access of the powerbi object in the storage explorer. So unfortunately I can't get it working. Is there any way you would have an update step-by-step? Because it's very interesting to get it working!
Yes, they did changed, thankfully:)
I need to update mine, so when I do it , I will record it.

Ruth, I checked in 3 different tenants I have access to in different US data centers, and like in your video (at 7m 20s) none of them list "Power Query Online". Did you get to the bottom of this?
Hi, I did not... Mmm I thought it was a premium thing? The video is done with a Pro account.
Their docs say you gotta enable all three, no idea...

@@CurbalEN I found Power Query Online in AAD by reading again the documentation carefully: "In the Azure Active Directory blade, select Enterprise applications.
From the Application Type drop-down menu, select ALL APPLICATIONS and then select Apply".
If you don't grant rights to Power Query Online, the service will start creating the files in the data lake but the refresh process will fail to complete.
Finally, to clarify, this is not related to Premium.
Thanks for sharing!

This is almost a data architecture.. Ruth just one more help. Is there any way to configurate dataflow to no create csv file every time dataflow is refreshing, I mean, replace the csv file in ADLS. I'm saying this because this integration create as many csv files as refreshing has the dataflow. Tks, you are amaizing
I am afraid I don’t know :(
Have you tried asking in the Power BI community?
Please can you do an update on this. I think it is GA now. Thanks!
