The perfect example of why he is the best and most complete rider I've ever seen. Has the power to break away and then wins a World Championship simply by being the best technician. Still gives me chills when I see it
@@smimi2333 2 years ago Pogacar was already more complete, as is Cancellara and some others. This WC is actually not really proof that the winner is the most complete rider, if the move you make is at 2.7K from the line, it only proves you're the most explosive.
The course was so awesome! I was there and I had time to move from spot to spot and gave me enough time to get to the finish. People were having such a great time. Worlds is the best
This course is on Zwift, those final 3 hills are tough. Amazing the speed these guys ride up them! Even the finish is far from easy after you go round the corner
Not even sweaty, panting & demolished after the finish line, after such a MONSTROUS effort... unbelievable... just cool, smiling, high-fiving the other riders who arrived after him... how is that even possible?!
Perceived wisdom is that Sagan is invisible until his decisive attack. However you can see at 1:50 he actually bridges to a potentially very dangerous attack by Stybar, Degenkolb, Van Avermaet and Boasson Hagen on his own as the French rider following is gapped. If those four got away together at that point it could have been race over.
And that kids, is why you don't make halfarsed attacks. When Sagan looks back at 3:43 and sees he hasn't ridden GVA out of his slipstream and only has a few bike lengths between them he could have stopped and waited for a sprint thinking GVA would definitely hold on to his wheel. But he didn't, he kept pedaling and it turned out GVA was so done that despite a flat road Sagan could ride him out of his slipstream. A lot of riders would have given up at that point, he didn't.
I have heard 10 different commentators in 6 languages and they all say the same thing about Australian rider when Sagan starts his attack on the climb. I wonder who came up with that first and who is just using that audio to do their own.
The amount of power he had to gap that whole peleton like that is very very special he had like 100 watts more than the next beat guy there I couldnt believe the gap he had at one point with 1.4 k to go he made that gap in about 400m mindblowing ok they closed towards the end but he still had 3 sec on the whole rest of the field.
This was an epic win in the town where I grew up (actually from New Hope, PA) really exciting to see a true champion snap the elastic from the peleton under a railway bridge that used to be where slaves were traded in colonial times. Sad past becomes a happy present.
Brilliant ride by Sagan but two years in a row Australia had two riders in the top ten. Disgraceful they couldn't put their egos aside and work for one another.
Sadly he was confused and waited for Kristoff who was the the captain of the norwegians. Edvald might be the nicest person in the peloton, but it is costing him a lot of opportunities.
@@knutespenbergby3265 Eddie has (had) one of the best physical attributes with a super high VO2 max and his sprint top end was one of the best out there. BUT, he was a terrible tactician, never really using his head to save energy or use the energy smartly, and couldn't really figure out how to ride for himself. Even in Zwift races he made the same errors. A sad situation as I always rooted for him his entire career but it's been nothing but a letdown.
What a legend. But just think, the UCI in their "wisdom" has now made this mega exciting and brilliantly executed attack illegal. No supertuck and no arms resting on top of the handlebars descending. Hopeless!
DD DDD's answer is correct. BBC used to be a trusted name in broadcasting. But now it's 80% propaganda. Leadership slipped in to the hands of little Marxist anti-Christs who had been taking the long march through the institutions. Now they're in charge, and only the indoctrinated people believe in the integrity of the BBC. This same thing has happened to every major state-related broadcaster or media outlet. I always wonder that. That person got a future cycling relic and a piece of history in his hands. After sagan retires his career will be one of the greatest of all time career.
@@MrAngry3232 Balls is the key. He took that downhill left turn faster than anyone else would have the nerve to. Plus, everyone thinks that they'll catch someone after the road flattens out. But the two who were closest were already gassed from the hill on 23rd Street.
The Supertuck move at 3:43 was key. He pulled away coasting downhill whilst recovering from his cobblestone climb break away.
Boonens's reaction at the end is great.
Ja, Sagan war besser für Tom als GVA 😄
Lol Sagan using the super tuck & puppy paws. Its like UCI took this one personally
He has so many friends in the Peloton and thats what I like to see :)

The most complete is Valverde
So sad you didn't get to watch Poagacar...

@@l.d.t.6327 i was saying that the comment about valverde was made when pogacar hadn’t emerged yet
2:48 aw man thats just, satisfying
I never tire of this win for Sagan
Always good, have to come back here once in a while
Always a pleasure to watch! Sagan - great champion! 👏👑🚵
I could watch this a thousand times and still get goosebumps!
When Sagan drops the hammer, the only person who can catch him is the cameraman.
I was there, and couldn’t catch him with my camera on the last lap. I only got the motorcycle as he went by! 😢👍
Godbless cylists n Goodluck!!!@@ Congrats : Peter Sagan!@!@@
EPIC!. Never tire of watching this run into the line...

I recently completed that with lungs holding in my hand... those hills are tough and my trainer difficulty is 50%~~~ :(
yeah try doing that in real life like me bud
That was epic by Sagan. Commentary was legendary too.
He can win In sprints, hill stages, from the breakaways, in cobblestone classics. I think sagan is the best rider, this generation has ever seen
it never gets old - what an attack!!!
Veľká vďaka Peter Sagan, veľká vďaka komentátorom BBC sport :):):)

What? Saying he was invisible doesn’t mean you never saw him, he was just never on the front until that point

Well said and so true.
He even fooled the commentator, who gave up on his behalf.
So glad I got to be there, enjoy the race, and ride the course. I hope a race like this can come back to the USA soon.
4:12 is the turn where the race was won.
Alessio Punzi ...you couldn't take it fast without ending up in the crowd.
Nah, 3:13. It was all about the positioning before the decent
Totalavulsion fair point
Thats so fucking good turn!!!
A truly wonderful and popular victory. So many facets to that attack and sustained belief. Epic.
Peter was the biggest rider with the biggest watts up the final cobbled climb. He must have been full Hulk mode once he pulled out of GVAs slipstream
Nas Peto Sagan je KING THE BEST ! ;)
Excellent video... Thanks for sharing. :)
A joy to watch!
Fascinante carrera emocionante OK
Sagan got the power up like in Zwift
The greatest win ever..
Still gives me goosebumps.. Chapeau!
The man 🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️
What a move, what an effort. Chapeau
Just rode this on Zwift while watching... had to pause Sagan a few times to keep up!
Did you ride 160 miles on the course before you paused?
