Desanto went to my hs and my coaches always talk about his absurd work ethic and skill level, he is so insane

It still bothers me with how unsportsmanlike he is. Idc about any work ethic and how good you are, the clips I've seen of him being unsportsmanlike makes me lose any respect for him. He is a good wrestler, but he needs to be humble.

At the time watching it live, it had to be the greatest high school match of all time.
Lee with one leg, against a kid with a crazy record out of a random school. No one gave him a shot. Me and my whole wrestling team watching this at home just blew up when he hit that last takedown.

They are both awesome wrestlers that’s why Spencer went and got Austin to join him at Iowa. Shows what kind of person lee is in a sport where it’s all about your match and doing your part your the only one that can win or lose out on the Matt but lee wanted him there to make his team better
I think Lee is the Achilles of Wrestling. He's basically perfect but has one fatal flaw of losing his last, most important match.
I was at this match the entire arena was electric…greatest match I’ve ever seen!
Who else became a huge Desanto fan after this? I know someone will clap back and say that Spencer had only one knee. But you, me, and everyone else would take a kneeless Spencer over the entire 125 NCAA field. To win that last Natty with no ACLs is legendary. But what he’s doing this year is Gable Stevenson level domination. Straight bullying AAs like they’re lil boys and pinning top 5 guys left and right. It’s absolutely incredible.
There’s a reason Spencer told Austin to come to Iowa with him before jumping on the podium after this match. He knew Austin would push him to become better and tougher. And then they became the most electric 1-2 punch at 25 & 33, maybe of all time? Whose better? 🙏🏼🔥👏🏼👌🏼☝🏼🏅

Eh. Desanto beat a recovering horse. I feel this video in itself is just a clout chase
To clear everything up Spencer Lee tore his ACL in late January, doctors and dad told him to just end his season but Spencer said no, made it all the way through and was determined to be an undefeated 4x state champ, his knee popped out in the semi finals and his dad told him to just forfeit in the finals , Spencer was like ‘I have to prove that I can wrestle like this and win”, Desanto wanted revenge so he cut more weight just so he could face Lee instead of going 132 and winning a state title easily
@@jackbauer408 I’m talking about if Desanto didn’t wrestle Lee at 126 and cut mad weight he could’ve won easily at 132 cause he was good but he wasn’t world class like Lee was

In NJ we just take our kneecaps and beat our opponents over their heads with them when they pop out, then we put them back when we’re done beating people with them. But that’s just NJ. I don’t expect anyone to match us in that regard

Desanto wanted that match more then Lee!.. It’s that simple! Everyone was quick to say “If Spencer was 100% and not injured (Knee) than Desanto doesn’t win that match”… Honestly it wouldn’t of mattered bc Desanto broke Spencer Lees will to win!… He beat him bc he wanted it more than Spencer and it clearly shows in the match. Spencer Lee Pinned and TF every opponent he wrestled in the PA State tournament including Desanto in the Championship finals the year Prior to this Match. Spencer thought this was going to be a walk in the park but Desanto had a different approach and he was hungry to get revenge on Lee! He was mentally focused and believed in himself that he can beat Lee and he did just that! I believe Lee needed to be humbled and what better way to be humbled than in your last high school match in the state finals as your perfect record and chance at becoming a 4x pa state champ (Which has only been done twice) are shattered bc the guy across from you wanted it more!

@@bradylemmon5659 He was healthy enough to TF his way to the state finals though right? He ran into an opponent who was ready for war and revenge! Desanto got TF by Lee the previous year in the finals. Desanto could of ducked Lee and moved up a weight class where he would of easily won but he specifically stayed at the weight to get revenge on Lee for disrespecting him after he TF him and shoved his head away. Like I said Desanto wanted it more! Oh and by the way “Excuses are for wussies!” 😝
@@luccicosta9510 FACTS!!! Lee is simply the best at 125 and might be the best collegiate wrestler right now but to dismiss Desanto like he only won because Lee was injured is CRAZY!!! Desanto wasn’t going to lose to Lee that match regardless!!

If you can’t respect Austin Desanto for the determination and will to win that he showed in this match against one of greatest collegiate wrestlers to step on the mat than shame on you. Spencer Lee Won a Natl Championship with NO ACLS! Enough with “if Lee was healthy etc”. If I can recall from the words of Lee himself “excuses are for wussies”
@@luccicosta9510 and I know people have different opinions on Austin Desanto but I personally enjoy watching his matches with my 2 boys (who wrestle) and show them what it is to put a pace on someone!!
Not talked about enough that Desanto was a weight class lower all year and made the move up just for a rematch with Spencer Lee. The year prior Spencer tech falled desanto and when interviewed after Desanto said he would be back for his revenge.
I’m not 100% but I think you got it mixed up, I believe Desanto was wrestling at a higher weight class (132) and went down to wrestle Lee.
@@floridafan561 you may be right it’s been a while. The point remains tho that Desanto changed weights for a revenge spot instead of walking through his own weight class.

I love Pennsylvania wrestlers. They’re almost half as tough as NJ wrestlers
so by most of the comments here a torn acl and a huge knee brace has no effect on your ability to move, get to shots, and scramble. Yeah right. Not gonna say that Desanto didnt come prepared but he did take on an opponent with a diminished capacity and that is a fact. Remember Lees freshman year in college, wrestled most of the year with that brace on and said screw it right before nats and off it came. He looked like a different wrestler with that brace off. Every time the brace went back on he looked off but when he was out of it boom.
Dude still went undefeated and made it to state finals despite that though, no excuses.
Desanto deserves to be recognized for this and. Lee could of had 10 healthy ACLS with no brace it wouldn’t of mattered bc Desanto wanted it more! If I recall from the words of Lee himself “excuses are for wussies”

I saw another video of this match and it looked like the matches on the other mats didn’t start till this was over. I went to school in Oklahoma and I don’t remember two guys this good facing each other in person in high school.
1, they’re from PA, a lot of states make it so every division goes at the same time with same weight

Just watch every NJ state finals video from over the years, only one champion. Tons of great finals where national champs and All-Americans wrestled over the years.

Not a fan of Desantos and his ways but what is everyone watching here? Austin was clearly the better wrestler in this match. 3 of Lees points were given to him. Knee excuse is a little weak.. If it were that bad he wouldn't be wrestling in a Piaa state final.
Lee wrestled the post-season that year with no regular season, his knees were so screwed up. He was out of shape and still took DeSanto to the wire. Saying DeSanto won because he wanted it more is facetious. Lee tried something only one other person ever accomplished that I recall: starting the PIAA post season with a 0-0 record and winning states. Carlton Haselrig accomplished it .
I mean you have to get through sectionals and districts to get to staye so how was he 0-0 unless Pennsylvania does something different then other states
You're definitely right. You have to place top 2 in districts and top 3 or 4 at regionals to make it to states. They dont just say hey you're a 3 time defending state champ so you qualify for states. Not how it works. I dont know where this person got there information from but they are full of shit. 💯

Franklin Regional Panthers wrestling. His junior year he only wrestled 12 matches because he was winning worlds.
Idk he didn’t have a regular season before this, that’s crazy impressive going that far and almost winning it w out being in wrestling shape and hurt

Look I'm a Pennsylvania guy my son wrestled and I'm a fan of Austin's. But let's not act like spencer wasn't wrestling on one leg. And the fact that he tect him the year before.

I don’t mean to be THAT guy but he beat a horse with a broken leg… yes impressive to beat lee but you can tell when he had mobility issues. I couldn’t imagine how easy this match would have been won if he had full mobility
