The best fast tack tutorial seen so far. The slow motion both in the water and from the beach and the camera angle give a perfect idea of the moves . The best tip is draw the sail to the other side of the board. This makes the difference to me. I put it immediately in practice and it works. Thanks a lot
Great explanation! Thanks for the english translation of an old tutorial!
Thank's a lot. Next year gonna do new tutorials.
Best explanation I`ve seen, so far! Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!
Thanks, really good explanation and a motivation to really start working on tacking my small board.
Although I will probably find it is not as easy as it looks when you do it.
Great !!!! Thanks a lot!
I notice that as you change hands you half squat then pull down on the mast pulling yourself up as you step. That makes light feet and centres the down force. I always sink the nose when I tack so I'll see if squatting makes a difference. Nice tips, thanks.
Very good
So far, I couldn't control the rotation, and I almost died sometimes. 😂
Good explanation thanks. There are other variations how to do the fast tack. See how Philip Koster does it in his video "Windsurfing at the step" at 1 minute 10 seconds. He lets go of the back hand on the boom and grabs the mast below the boom, then what was the front hand on old side lets go and grabs new side of boom at harness lines. If you are going slow then pull sail until it touches your leg before you go round. If you are going with decent speed then only watch for the sail to be mid line on board before going round. If you are super powered up and high speed then watch for sail only being not as far as midline. However it is more about a momentary quick sheet in before going round. In short period waves that are rough with chop it is going to be tricky as the board loses speed so quickly , but depends on board size etc.
Not important how your hands go. let them go as you like. keep attention! how your sail goes! And feet.
Question: I sail on old school boards sometimes (course racers and 290cm boards from the 90's) I really like how they sail but turning them can be very hard. As soon as you move forward in the tack, the board stops turning. Especially off the plane. However if you stay at the rear, the step to get around the mast is huge and nearly impossible to make. Any tips?
Try planning tack
Beautiful video but probably the worst quality water I’ve ever seen. 😅
