    little insight for anyone thinking of a v7 racer or any guzzi for that matter.
    I bought a 2014 racer in 2015 left over. I loved the bike but sold it, thinking I needed more for a bmw R1200gs rallye a few years later. With all the features my GS had and how great it was it was a huge mistake. I sold the GS and I’m back on a 2014 V7 racer.
    Theirs absolutely nothing like riding a moto guzzi. Nothing sounds like it or rides like it. It makes you smile the entire time your on it and it’s soul in a motorcycle. This is a really great review from him and very honest. Nothings perfect, but you can tweak these little bikes in some awesome ways. Happy riding!

    The Moto Guzzi V7 iii Racer is a soulful beast with its air-cooled transverse V-twin engine singing beneath me on a great day in the Virginia countryside. I hope you enjoy the review.

    Own a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT that carried me 130 miles on one cylinder at highway speed (even passed other cars) when a plug wire crapped out on a Sunday morning and no options for replacement. Also own a 2013 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone and love its handling, lighter weight, and quality of manufacturing. Have owned Kawasaki, Suzuki, Moto Morini, Laverda, BMW, Triumph, BSA, Zundapp, Indian and will ALWAYS STAY WITH GUZZI!!!

    Thank you, I thoroughly enjoyed your review, including the run through your scenic countryside.
    Being British, I have a bias towards Triumph bikes but I do admire the Moto Guzzi range.
    The view over the clocks and bars as well as your commentary, reminded me of the 865 cc Thruxton bikes I have owned.
    They also had their limitations but were a joy to ride.

    Don't dare let the somewhat low HP number scare you off Guzzi V7's. I have a 200HP rocket with tons of rider aids and thousands in suspension and a V7 among my bikes. Guess which would go first. The V7 is a bike that any sane person could enjoy for a lifetime. They are also durable. They might have a few minor bugs when delivered, but once buttoned up they'll go for more miles than most could ever do. One account comes to mind of 100k miles with relatively little done to it. They are great for anyone that isn't about pissing contests and they have a group of very pleasant and knowledgeable, if a bit quirky, people that will welcome you to the brand.

What a fantastic motorcycle, so un-Japanese...I also have a V Strom 650....The Guzzi V7 is a wonderful motorcycle. As for that red light that goes on at 4,500rpm....that is a warning light to upshift when the bike is new and it can be changed, as detailed in the manual. You can set it at what ever point you want. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed watching it. I got a V7 too, but not the racer. You don't need rev so high as shown in the vid, the engine takes all revs above 2500 rpm easily, sometimes even lower. It is kinda torquy. Just enjoy the good vibrations...

    @Deetroiter Před 3 lety +1

    I have a 2010 V7 Classic and the interesting thing for a torquey v-twin is that it likes to rev. Cruising between 4k-5k is where it's happiest. Moto Guzzi are fantastic bikes and it's a true shame more people aren't buying them.

    One of the best or maybe the best review of the MG Racer in CZcams. Love the views and the road perfect for that bike. I noticed that you were in 4th gear at 4K rpm but could not see the speed. @atastefortheroad4475  Před 4 lety +2

      Thanks very much. The bike will certainly work at 75 mph. But the buffeting will get long in the tooth. I enjoyed the V7 most between 35 and 60 mph on secondary roads. You get to use all the revs and work thru the gears - which is very rewarding. There will definitely be more videos coming along.

    Hello, very good video. I have noticed that you drive the moto guzzi at a very high RPM and that the red light constantly comes on to change gear. Unlike Japanese motorcycles, the Guzzi are low to intermediate RPM motorcycles. These motorcycles like to go between 3000 and 4000 RPM, for example the Moto Guzzi V7 lll at 80 km/h the tachometer indicates 3000 rpm and at 100 km/h it indicates 3750 RPM and I have noticed in most of the video that you ride in 4 gear at 5000 RPM with the red shift light on. It is better to change to 6 gear and have the engine run smooth and at a happy low RPM. Greetings from Costa Rica Central America.

    You can adjust the rpm gear shift indicator threshold! Hold your “MODE” button when your display is in the “ODOMETER” mode. Toggle until you see the “SET GEAR SHIFT” option. Hold the “MODE” button again to select this option. Each time the “MODE” button is selected, your rpm goes up by 100. Hold down “MODE” to save your setting.

    • @pmstirling
      @pmstirling Před 3 lety

      Actually I think it this V-twin as transverse, because a line drawn through the spark plugs is perpendicular to the crank! But mainly because the cylinders stick out to each side.

      @@pmstirling As to cylinders and cranks - cylinders can be aligned in an I, spread in a V or even a W or radial (airplane) or opposing in a flat - as in Subaru. None of these identify longitudinal or transverse. The distinction lies in whether the crank axis aligns with the vehicle axis - longitudinal, or it runs perpendicular to the vehicle axis - transverse. (My view is transverse to yours.)

    I've been wanting to try the V7 III Stone, as well as the Triumph Street Twin and T100 (leaning more towards the ST). I like the shaft drive of this bike and positioning of the V-Twin would make valve checks and adjustments easy.

      Thanks for commenting. Bikes operate best between peak torque and hp - which is 4900 and 6000 for the V7. The chassis is loaded and more balanced and responds quickly to inputs. The roads here are more varied than they appear as the GoPro visually flattens everything in its path. Enjoy the rest of your week.

      Thomas - that's an interesting question. It depends upon what you want - a straight forward daily ride or something to fuss over. The Guzzi is beautifully finished and well built with quirks. The GT is more practical. If you've got good dealerships reasonably close by I'd test them both - to see which one fits better, how you'll be treated as a customer, what puts a bigger smile on your face. Both marque communities strong. I hope this helps. Happy hunting!

    I recently rode a demo ride on all of the moto guzzi lineup and ill be frankly honest. They ride like shit . I rode a new triumph boneville and its a night and day difference.

      Glad to hear you enjoyed the Triumph. I like what MG does, but they don't appeal to everyone. Happy hunting!

    You go to prison for speeding? I own one of these and it’s typically Italian. You’re just another American guy who doesn’t get it.
