  • In early September we visited Liseberg, a fantastic theme park in Sweden! During our trip we were lucky enough to be given a behind the scenes tour of the park by Pontus; allowing us to go inside of operator cabins, maintenance sheds, and much more! In this video, Harry discusses the countless facts told during the experience by Pontus, as well as some of the activities that we got up to! A huge thanks goes to Pontus and Liseberg for giving us the tour.

    I remember seeing the "evolution of helix" video a few years ago. It's really cool that you actually bring it up! But it got me thinking that Liseberg was ready to build a Mega/hyper coaster on top of the hill. So maybe after their current investments in the hotel and waterpark are finished they will be willing to build a new giant coaster on the hill. And if so, would it perhaps be an RMC t-rex?

    The Great American Scream Machine at SFOG also has a timer e-stop. I think it was 50 seconds or less from lift to main brake... but it was so long ago I cannot be sure. Ive had to call maintenance due to an overspeed several times lol. It usually happened after it rained, or early in the morning in August/September when the weather was cooler.

Or 30,000 euros. in my experience the wheels hold up pretty well and only need changed maybe once a season. sounds like you got a great tour though and I will defiantly have to visit this park if i ever make it over to Europe

    Liseberg is so classy with everything they do, and I'm not surprised they treated you so well. How did you personally find the vest restraints on Valkyria? I've not done a dive with vest restraints yet and am interested to know whether Liseberg were right to go with these compared to the standard overheads.

    • @coasterbot
      @coasterbot  Před 4 lety +1

      The valkyria vest restraints are pretty good honestly! They don't push on you too much. The drop loses some of the free fall feeling because of them but the rest of the layout is great :)

      @coasterbot  Před 4 lety

      Now that's an interesting question! :)

    • @321findus
      @321findus Před 4 lety +1

      There are several explanations of the name roller coaster. It is said to have originated from an early American design where slides or ramps were fitted with rollers over which a sled would coast. This design was abandoned in favor of fitting the wheels to the sled or other vehicles, but the name endured.
      Another explanation is that it originated from a ride located in a roller skating rink in Haverhill, Massachusetts in 1887. A toboggan-like sled was raised to the top of a track which consisted of hundreds of rollers. This Roller Toboggan then took off down gently rolling hills to the floor. The inventors of this ride, Stephen E. Jackman and Byron B. Floyd, claim that they were the first to use the term "roller coaster".
      (Taken from a Wikipedia article on the etymology of roller coasters.)
