33 Trent & Mersey Harecastle to Middlewich HD 1080p

- We join the Trent and Mersey and head for the Harecastle Tunnel. Thwarted by high water levels we head north and complete the 12 miles and 30+ locks to Middlewich. A big but beautiful detour. Every cloud has a silver lining!

The glass hatch is lovely and lets light through, just like a sun roof!
The Wardle canal lock used to really fast. One time after I had done through heading west, another boat left both sluices open and, before I knew it, the canal was draining and I hit the bottom and bent my propellor! I had to limp back to my then moorings at Barbridge.
Oh dear, not a great memory then.
Sorry about the high water levels in harecastle tunnel but it’s lovely to see the middlewich canals which we did in June now seems a long time ago

The water level must be high because we managed to go through in the Autumn of 2019.
I was worried about going under bridge 21 on the Ashton Canal which the Frog went under with ease.
Based on your experiance it looks like we may have to change our plans to go through the Harecatle Tunnel in a couple of weeks time if the water levels don't drop.
We did fit under the guide at the tunnel entrance but the risk of damage was too high if you didn’t exactly stay in the middle. There is not even a light at the end to guide you as the doors are closed at the south end. Let us know if you make it through, hope you do.

Came through the Harecastle Tunnel to day withought any difficulties helped by low water levels and boats infront and behind
