Industry is an exhilarating dive into the world of international finance, as seen through the eyes of ambitious twenty-somethings struggling to secure their futures. Worked for a place that made us log every single activity we did in a day with the time it took, most brutal environment I’ve ever been in.
I work in that environment now. The scary part? the "system" is implicit, disguised by "team building" and small talk.
Wow. Eric is amazing. I've never watched this show. Eric's command of the room and his mentality is reminiscent of working for a brokerage firm in the early 2000's.

Ken Leung is an exceptionally talented actor. It’s like his sociopathic character from the mental institution in The Sopranos grew up and became a managing director at an investment bank.

The only thing - as someone that works in the industry - that I always found less than plausible about Industry season 1 is how young Daria is to be in the position she's in. Nobody who is like 27 or whatever is on the verge of becoming a managing director at the firms Pierpoint is modelled after.
working in the "industry" since when you people are in business of manufacturing goods on a large scale ? You cannot rebrand you immoral profit activities as something productive.
Yes reel industries need money to develop but it does not have to come from immoral people getting absurdely rich by just moving it from a a place to another.
This is patently incorrect. There have been numerous cases at top banks like Goldman where people became even partner before or on 30. Star traders who rake in business. Eric Mindich at 27 for example.

I work in investment banking and can tell you no one behaves like that anymore lol (at least in the UK). Most of the MDs are snappy but it’s manageable as deep down we’re all snappy in certain situations

It just dawned on me how into this Eric's actor was. If you notice he didn't say "I want to see it in pounds," but instead he said dollars. It tells me he was living the part

@@georgeofhamiltonof course. However, if you are living in a place where sterling or pounds is the main currency you deal with, from paying at the store to your rent. It only makes sense to say the currency you most deal with. He is an American in real life so when he got into character he said his natural currency. I watch other shows like billions and you never hear them talking about sterling unless they are specifically talking on it.

@@TrapKingz. basically a "Budget" or "Desk Budget" is estimate of their revenue and expenses over a period of time
@@AdrianDucao what revenues and expenses? Don’t they make all the commissions from trading all to themselves?
The desk as a whole has expenses - headcount, etc. the profit they make from trades needs to exceed those expenses. If it doesn’t, they need to cut employees or fold the desk all together if they’re in the red for a sustained period of time.

Daria is done. Producers know how much the audience likes Eric and gave him plot armour.
She was fired after Harper revealed that nothing was done about Nicole touching her.

Actually this is quite an exciting series for those who are interested or are already in the finance industry. Since alot of students aspire to work at an investment bank this show encapsulates the politics that goes on within such firms, albeit a bit overdramaic.
He's supposed to be the bad guy. Everything that's wrong with banking. Yet I think I'd take his side 💪💪💪
He often show's he's a hypocrite during the series.
