its a crime that this song isn't on spotify
Definitely agree. An overlooked gem.
yt music bro.
Agree. This is true crime!!
I hope John finds his way back into the Chili Peppers again in the future. I could really use another album with his guitar playing from them.
And here we are....hes back
Fate is funny isnt it.
new Album in mai 2022
Bro U manifested this
Boy do I have news for you!
I can't believe I didn't listen to this song a decade ago, I knew it existed but for some reason I always skipped it. I'm glad I found it again.
This song feels like a good ending. A nostalgic but refreshing feeling, at the end of a peaceful day at the sea, with a lover or some good friends.
I find myself returning to this song over and over. It has such a chill vibe
Same!
Fuck religion. RHCP B-Sides are the true form of enlightenment.
Yup, same. I get a very laid back image of a village somewhere where life is simpler.
Such a chili vibe
Used to sleep to this song my sophomore and junior years high school. This shits the best to this day 🔥
Such a incredible song
For many people Gong-Li is a unknown song, and that's just one reason I love it more. I hope people will find this song and have the same feeling when I heard it for the first time. I became a Pepper fan since Californication came out when I was 11 years old. I found this song somewhere in 2004 when I was 16 years old. Still can't believe I found it so late... It was like finding big treasure. An awesome feeling. This is such a wonderful masterpiece. One of the best RHCP tracks and definitely the best B-Side ever made! I just love this song. It's just so sensitive, emotional and it brings so much sphere. Thx for uploading this.
And here I am, finding a new song
That's what i absolutely love about the b-sides... it's like finding new songs in your favorite albums
I love the sound of the guitar on this one
I feel like I'm flying through the sun when i hear this, love johns backing vocals, they always make it 10x better.
sky** the sun would be fucked
😂
rly ? John is valuable also at vocals side, thats what I meant to say, that Kiedis needs him, and Josh is not having Frusciante talent
John backing vocals are sooo overlooked. He is great too at writing and singing them.
I remember the very moment my grandmother died. I sat outside and played this song over and over again while I cried.
Now every now and then I CZcams this song just to feel her presence. Thank you peppers.
This is absolutely my favorite RHCP song, if not one of my favorite song's of all time. It's perfect and filled with some much nostalgia.
Still one of the most underrated songs they've ever produced...
Absolutely heavenly.
Im glad that they made this song the way it is, its very simple but speaks volumes and is very beautiful. simplicity is the greatest thing you can do with music, if you can make it simple but beautiful at the same time you got something good going for you.
imo the intro is one of the most complex of their discrography
Nothing simple about this song lol this guy must not play instruments
@@robertobrito9845 Perhaps he’s referring to the lyric.
@@Annais1211 I was thinking the overall melody and how the song sounds rather than how easy or difficult it would be to perform it.
Hate that this isn’t on Spotify because it’s a B side. Brilliant start to finish.
Guitar and bass part are 140 bpm, verses are 85 bpm
I'll try and remember this next time i drop it in the mix at the club!
My fav RHCP song 4eva
There's a certain aesthetic to this song that makes my eyes water, and if that doesn't show the power of music, I don't know what does.
Genuinely dont see how anybody has disliked this song, maybe the most beautiful guitar/bass combo ever made
Don’t give up on your positive outlook on life, no matter how much you get tested
awwww
Trying really had not to tip off the dark side of life, and will always keep on trying the hardest I can !
This is one of their most beautiful but also most heartbreaking songs.
i like it
Chills. So simple yet so beautiful.
Some these b sides r my fav songs
Man I^ love this track.
some people like to shit on AK lyrics, I strongly disagree. Ma man can send so much love and power and sadness.
listening to rhcp is my confort zone, where I remember I'm human
Yeah but
First born unicorn HARDCORE SOFT PORN is funny
Excellent!!!❤
Extreme beauty in this one
This is genuinely the greatest Red Hot Chili Peppers song in existence. My earliest memory i can remember my sisters playing this for me at 3 years old. 22 now
one of the best of rhcp
Summer of 1998! Still in 2019!
Nice, that A section is in 13/8 and 15/8. It really makes this track.
Red Hot Chili Proggers
Some people say you hate me,
I don't believe it's true, things that you're going through
Some people say you hate me,
I don't believe it's you, things that you're going through,

Some people said a prayer for,
The way you want to live, the eyes you want to give
Some people say you played me,
I don't care if it's true, I'm waiting here for you,

I'm not afraid to know, when things are getting low

My favorite... very sincere song
Noice
This song reminds me of LA a lot
I thought this was written by anthony for john, looks like genius lied
love you
Great song. So beautiful and simple with real sincere lyricism. One of my favorites
In Japan, this song was the hidden track of the album, Californication. At that time, there was no credits on CD, I have thought this tune was a part of “Road Trippin “ for almost 20 years :)
WHY ISN'T THIS SONG ON SPOTIFY?!??!
it is a shame bc this is literally one of their best songs
you can still get it on spotify! google it, it involves using local files on the spotify app on your computer and your phone at the same time. I just got this and many more b-sides that aren't on spotify. Lmk if you need help

Amazing, I'm glad I found this. I've been obsessing over this song ever since I heard it
i stopped listening to the peppers a long time ago and entirely shifted my musical taste to other genres, but somehow this song always keeps coming back to me, its just so beautiful man
same here brother.
same here brothers
Why would you do that? Chili Peppers are for LIFE ❤
Oh my god! I almost forgot this song and it's one of my favourite! After the return of John I returned to my childhood's and of course to my favourite band and I'm very glad about this!I'm waiting for this summer to see them live in Athens! I feel that with John a part of my adolesence is back ! Anyone feeling the same?
love this song
Fantastic ❤❤
It's beautiful. I love all their b-sides, they obviously deserve to be on the record but for some reason i love that you have to go out of your way to listen appreciate it. Shows your true love for it
Great song love the guitar 😍
Don't you just love the fact that everybody in the comments loves this song so much?
This music is so Beautifull
I love RHCP, but none of their songs have ever touched me like this one is as I'm listening to it. Wow.
So chilled and makes you happy. Always picture cruising down the highway with no stress and just smiling
Gong Li is my favorite actress
"I'm not afraid to know, when things are getting low"
William Francis yep my favorite lyrics
I can't believe I've never heard it before... It's amazing, I love this song. It's so optimistic ;)
Omgggg! Love this
oh I've totally forgotten about this song! I used to play this bass line to myself so often a few years ago. I'm glad I found it again, it feels so nostalgic.
This song always makes me close my eyes and smile. Beautiful song!
John Frusciante is back with the Chili peppers, this song comes to mind. All is right with the world.
i could have this on repeat forever .
Welcome back john...... I/we missed you brother 👍
Brilliant track. Thanks for uploading.
I've been watching lot of John Frusciante interviews lately and in one he said this was one of his favourite RHCP songs.
Hi, I know it's an old comment, but could you link me the video?
Link to that interview
@@renerosalesjr.4231 he never said that
I remember he call this song Instrumental #1
@@shadyknopfler7720 czcams.com/video/yIBwOXOW-SE/video.html
Yeah this song takes me back in time.....b side r bad ass songs
Perfect song. The instrumental is in an odd time signature and creates tension, maybe symbolizing conflict and then the chorus is in 4/4 to symbolize forgiveness and relief given by the restored relationship. Anthony's tone and the way his voice blends with John's is just out of this world.
Well said
I knew I was pick in’ up something along the lines of that
I’m pretty sure the verse is 7/4 ezpz
Easily one of the best songs ever written
One of the greatest RHCP songs
Always has been and always will be one of my absolute favorite chili peppers songs. Way under rated but maybe the fact it’s a rare scar tissue b-side adds to what I love about it
Happiness. Nothing else, just happiness.
This is my fave atm
I bought the Scar Tissue single in ‘99 and then just found it in an old bin of CDs and tapes…i remembered there being another song and then looked it up, then realized I had listened to this song more than Scar Tissue 😂 I love the juxtaposition of the two sections. Beautiful song. This would be a fantastic deep cut to whip out in concert.
GREAT!
Anthony Kiedis’s best vocal performance. I don’t know what was happening that day or what was happening in his life, but he was truly feeling it on this one. That deep breath in the last seconds of the track...This was a man in his golden age...if I had to guess.
His best vocal performance on a recording is either
"all over the under,
The smell of blood and thunder" part of the song "Time"
Or
"sentimental gentlemen" part of "show me your soul"
Hmm. The funky smoothness of that delivery in Time? My new votes would be for the emotional weighty and silky smooth delivery in This Velvet Glove. And the vulnerable, depth of feeling height in Encore.
His vocals in By The Way are pretty good as well
This and "Soul to Squeeze" by far.
This song was written about John Frucsiante. A total vague emotional reaction from Anthony about how and why he heard John left the band and how much it affected him. This was Anthony’s love song to John and it solidifies how strongly John’s departure affected Anthony and how much Anthony realized how arrogant he was. John and Ant both acted like insensitive children at the time due to serious business obligations.
But I’m glad they both found stability and a version of themselves they can live with.
so true the band has so much talent
Why I love this cause is that I can listen to them for years and still come across such wonderful songs I haven't seen yet.
So chill and sweet 💕
Amazing chorus
Oh god that's so awesome! I totally love it!
Anthony's voice in this one is absolutely stunning...
My favorite RHCP B-Side
This is such a beautiful track, probably played this more than Scar Tissue when I had the single on CD.
"I don't care if it's true.. I'm waiting here for you" 💙
One day I started to hear this song as a message from me to myself and it helped save me. John and the Chilis ❤
class
My grandmother raised me and on the day she died I played this over and over again. Her spirit lives on through this song.
Amo con el alma esta canción
Wow this song is just... arghh i cant even explain it, one of the reasons why i love RHCP :)
I love this tune, i wish they would play it live
[Verse 1]
Some people say you hate me
I don’t believe it’s true, things that you’re going through
Some people say you hate me
I don’t believe it’s you, things that you’re going through
Some people said a prayer for
The one you want to live, the eyes that once were his
Some people said a prayer for
The way you want to live, the eyes you want to give
[Verse 2]
Some people say you played me
I don’t care if it’s true, I’m waiting here for you
Some people say you made it
I’m not afraid to know, when things are getting low
Some people say you hate me
I don’t believe it’s true, things that you’re going through
Some people say you hate me
I don’t believe it’s you, things that you’re going through
This song is art ❤
This is my fav song by Rhcp. 💜💜💜
I believe (and I think I read it somewhere) this song is about the relationship between AK and JF when he returned. It's about embracing and forgiving, that uncondiotional love we feel for the people close to us, no matter what happened or is happening. Love with no regrets, unchanging...for our parents, family, our dearest friends...
No idea why this song never made it on the album. One of my favourites
It’s because they chose not to put it on the album most likely
@@scoot3200 thanks scoot
Would have sounded great as a second track, just after ATW.
The song is rare, so it's better that way.
@@Sundog1985 yeah, it sounds better than parallel universe
Dang intro Gets me every time.. just beautiful
gorgeous
This is John's favourite R.H.C.P's track. 😍
Really?! Wow. Great to hear that. Do you have a source of this where he's saying this?
@@joostrijkers5425 just search up John frusciante q and a 2004 he talks about it real quick during the video
I thought that this Velvet glove was.
me encamta este tema!!!!!!!!!
The fact that this did not make it to the album is beyond me.
and what A GREAT song
The instrumental part without drums makes me think of clocks and time passing.
i hope this song blows up one day
Who’s here after Frusciante rejoined the band YET AGAIN
oh yeah!
yeet
lets hope he stays this time
oh shit he's back? i've been listening to his maggot brain esque song like non-stop lately
Holy shite! I had no idea Froosh was back even several months after news dropped on that! I am SO looking forward to their 2020 album now. For me, Froosh is the key to their sound being what it is when they're at their best. Klinghoffer is an awesome guitarist but Frusciante is THE Peppers' guitarist, anyone else is just trying their best to play something Froosh-esque that doesn't sound bad.
So psyched about this news though!
Love RHCP
2:22 Anyone else like that drumming part too? 🤟
Me, I love the fill chad smith plays
Chad drops that lil fill often, just brings the 1 back in nice and smooth
Chad drops that lil fill often, just brings the 1 back in nice and smooth
Sounds great
As someone born and raised in LA. Chili Peppers were like my rocker cousins band. Jammed out trying to imitate Frusciante’s riffs.
RHCP means a lot to me. I got older and understood the songs more and felt exactly like the words sung.
And this track is a b-side track but I’ve loved it since I’ve heard it. Wish I could stream or download it someplace.
Until then… Gong Li lives on in 2023.
Been a chilli peppers fan for a long never heard this till tonight now on repeat lo
this song is so god damn good
This song is great
This is the most mother fricking beautiful song ever. It's only few that make my chest feel like this
