That's exactly what I'm Beside You is and it's glorious, without any truly "single" sounding songs it just ends up being a ridiculously solid release

+tom dazman Same here. They've given me such healing and happiness over the years. I started listening to them when Mother's Milk came out when I was a freshman in high school. I"m sad that John is gone, and I can't relate to his other stuff. Josh is as good a replacement as anyone so at least there's at.

Yeah, on the money with this comment. I knew it sounds similar to another Chili Peppers song, just couldn't place it at first. Still, only the chorus is similar, so it probably could have at least come out on a different album.

Because John wrote most of it. Including bass. That's why all the bass parts (except for can't stop) don't sound like Flea wrote them, because he didn't.
Also, By The Way wasn't released in 2004.

@xoxobeelove11 The name also refers to when bands used to put out actual, two-sided vinyl records. "Singles" (typically the songs the band/label wanted to promote off the album) had one song on the A-side, and another on the B-side. The Chili's have a habit of including songs that didn't make the album as the B-side of their singles.

It comes from the old days when an album was recorded on vinyl, and the artist would put their best work on the top or "A-side" and they would record their work that they didn't consider as good (or in some cases just an instrumental) to fill the space on the opposite, or "B-side". The term is just used as slang now for songs that aren't on the official album. Protip: google youtube converter and get your B-sides that way
