Anybody come here from running with the buffaloes?
yah brah. we share a name
I just finished the book, straight on here after to watch lol
Amazing bool
Exactly. I just finished listening to the audiobook while on a long run. This race was exciting to hear. Now it’s cool to see it.
No comments? Wow this is an awesome video, brings "running with the buffaloes" to life a little more
Amazing. Top 10 book for sure
Goucher was an absolute monster. That stride length! He actually reminds me of Steve Ovett. They both just hoover up ground.
Abdi mixing it up for Arizona, then making the Olympic marathon team almost 22 years later-amazing!
I love how the commentator pronounces ‘Abdirahman’ more intensely every time
This is a real classic video. Thank you for posting this. Here we can see many greats of cross country but I am amazed (totally forgotten) that Abdi (a six time Olympian) ran this race as well in 1998; And here he ran at the Olympics 2021 (at 44 years old) in the marathon (41st) !! consistency! determination! and psychological strength!
You're welcome and I appreciate the feedback. Abdi and Lagat both battle hard in this legendary race but with patience Adam Goucher really showed his readiness at the Rim Rock Farms Course in Kansas.
Thanks for posting this! Of course I came here from the excellent book. Don't know about the rest of you but I was in tears reading about this race, enjoying Goucher's win, so it's a privilege to also be able to watch it happen on video 🙏
Great video. Goucher was tough as nails. Isn't it funny how film from the 70s w/Pre looks better than this washed out video? LOL.
Yep so weird. Video from 1960s is better than this.
@@naposthecavalierkingcharles This is home video of a TV broadcast, I'd guess. TV in the 90s was low def - 525 lines or so. Any home movie from the 60s was usually done on cine film. Film is always noticeably better than video.
Ok..you want a comment? Hmm..let's see. I really enjoyed listening to Adam Goucher's wife, Kara, during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. She gave very insightful and relevant commentary for NBC sports for the running events.
This was Colorado’s championship to win if Batliner, Blondeau, and Severy were healthy
Nah Arkansas dominated
Read the book Running with the Buffaloes, Colorado had some terrible misfortune that really inhibited their success at this meet. It’s remarkable how well they managed to do without so many key runners.
That Arkansas coach talks exactly like Robin Williams
Loved the commentary from Jeff Atkinson!
Camera man better than all of them 🥱
I prefer to watch instead of running my Ass off... lol
How did they manage to film the 1998 championships in 1975?
VCR was the only way back in 1998 to capture. You can compare it to the 1999 NCAA Championships here czcams.com/video/EccUmh17vBQ/video.html
Dylan ballard=Severy?? ... I think he was gone by then...
