Toyota Blocking Kane Creek Trail

  • We went into Kane Creek Trail from the top to help get a truck that was blocking the trail. From the top is the quickest way in, but it put us on the wrong side to pick it up. So we got creative to move it to a wide spot in the road so traffic could pass and we could get in front to pick it up. We carried it up to the parking lot below Hamburger Hill. The rain was coming in hard so we left it there and got out. Parts were ordered and showed up the next morning, me and Lilli went in and we repaired it so they could drive it out. I didn't get any videos of the repairs and we went out a different route then they did. So hopefully you all enjoy the video we did get. Thanks everyone for the support.

Oh, 'Mater breaks once in a while. But Rory can fix it, and still get him and the client out. Loved his explanation of why he runs leaf springs, on the video where he broke the driver's rear spring. He has the parts and tools to fix it good enough to drive out at a normal pace. Not so easy when coil-overs break.

    • @MrGaryGG48
      @MrGaryGG48 Před rokem +1

@@hondolane3125 In one of Rory's commentaries, he mentioned that he prefers his "over-load air bags" with leaf springs to coil-overs, because he always has a back up if one or the other breaks on a trail. The coil-overs are a good system on "over the road" vehicles but when you're out in the sticks they aren't durable enough.

What an amazing job! That rain made those trails treacherous so people need to be afraid. :) Thank you for sharing that its not always sunshine in Utah, and that everybody can get locked out of their cars.
Maybe Rory should make a "build-series" where he produces and talks about custom tools that might be handy to do rescues in harsh environments. The Caliper-spacer is a good idea. And maybe some thing to "melt-together" a skid-plate-assembly, to use parts on the TrailMater. Maybe also something to compress the suspension on RockCrawlers, so it is easier to avoid rubbing the ground while towing the Crawler out along a trail.
And thank you for putting dad and Lilli first, by dropping filming the next day :)

I've heard your name before on Matt's channel but came over here after seeing the hand off of Robby's antique wrecker. If your videos are as good as this one I'm staying. Subscribed, liked and commented. Thanks for the entertainment. Jeff 🥴👍

Nice video! Those guys were certainly in a pickle. Thanks to your experience and ingenuity you got them out of there. Glad you were able to get it fixed the next day. I'll bet they were VERY happy they called YOU!!! Great job!!!

Cool recovery, the wetness adds a whole other dimension to the difficulty. I got sick of locking my keys in so I removed the button, now I have to lock it with the key

Rory’s the Master Class Instructor at rigging! Whoa what a tow out. 😮 Trail Mater, the one Spider Crawlers call when they’re in trouble. Thanks for the lesson!

Thank you for everything you share! Love to follow you!
When we were kids we often skied on something we called "mini skis" in the winters!
Exactly the same in aluminum, you would have 2 pieces with you with straps to fasten when drive shafts and wheel attachments collapsed, All you rescue teams, Matt, Robby, Paul... need one of this! So simple to built!

Rory does not like my comment ... Ha ha ... He knows of course and has all the experience and just all the equipment he needed for what he needs to rescue!
But I and maybe others here in the comments do not know and do not have all the experience, so we may need to "ball" this stuff in these threads!
Some of us live in such area that we have thousands of km to the nearest place to see and possibly get to drive similar cars in mountain passes as you can do every day!

Nothing better than watching a 80s chevy square body not only take on all obsticles but rescue all these big $ rigs and and pull them out from trecherous places that broke them, just gos to show the experience that rory has and knowlege of his “ office” he is obviously the man to call when your in trouble. Been offroad in all aspects my whole life , you dont come across to many many people like him. Trail mater and rory are the real trail heroes, and without guys like him to come to the rescue this sport would die out, want to thank all the guys that put themselves in harms way sometimes putting their own life on the line to rescue not only our rigs but in some cases the passenger’s themselves from bad situations. Thanks guys keep up the good work, you give us the confidence to go wheel and the peace of mind knowing you will get back home.

Another great recovery. I love your channel and I’m still catching up on older videos while staying on top of the new ones. Trail Mater is a beast a I really enjoy watching your driving skills. The camera angles are pretty cool too. The suspension cam and boom cam were great. I’m really glad MORR recommended your channel. Can’t get enough. Stay safe Rory and crew.

I think the customer on this one was in shock with the way that Trail Mater handled his truck. First with the slide and then with the pick and pull, it was perfect . Just amazing what the man can do with his truck.
Great recovery and repair/recovery that left them in awe.
Thanks for the video it is beautiful.
