Thanks for the love everyone. A lot of time and effort went into making this review. I have not biught the game. In fact i think I still have an hour or 2 on my trial. Anyways. TLDR; if youre coming from old gen to new gen, its going to be the best madden youve played since madden 18. (Not a high bar but still) but might be worth picking up during a sale this fall. and if youre still on old gen DO NOT buy it ever. Its pathetic.

Review is spot on! Within minutes of the games opening you feel NO PASSION. A clear money grab again, and EA really needs to share the rights with other studios. I’m extremely nervous about the college football game
now ! Anyone want to discuss a lawsuit or in person pitch to EA? They are about to waste the 5th generation of hardware and it’s really depressing. Game looks gorgeous but within 10 minutes you could tell they put minimal to no effort into improving this game. This is Criminal at this point!

That’s if you can get it to run on PC. It’s a mess full of even more issues than the console version and this is year 1 of the NG version on PC.
The only reason why I am hopeful is that the College Football Game has had 3 years of development, and it was always the best of EA, because of the NFL's style of control over their games. NFL is like that parent who never lets their kid have fun but wants them to have fun but when they do they discipline the child. Like some features had in the game the NFL had them removed, the dynamic stadium feature, is where in Madden 25 or 13 and NCAA 13 if you were up 28+ in the fourth or something like that the stadium would empty, the NFL had them remove it and they did. The hurtful hits with helmets popping off and things like that, the NFL had them removed, unsportsmanlike conduct... NFL had them removed. So yes Madden is crappy but don't stop there and point a few fingers at the No Fun League for some of the issues as well.
The buzz was low. EA to me has created space between the makers and the people that buy and try to play the game. McDonald's changed those fries grease for health reasons and it wasn't long before they listened and changed it back. EA dont respect its buyers.

No one cares about last gen and I could careless about helmets or jersey material. Only thing that matters is gameplay and it’s much improved this year. Game feels a lot better.

Top notch review. Madden used to be like Christmas morning on release. Now it’s lifeless no matter how much sparkle they put on it. It sucks because the love I had for this up until about madden 12. They truly don’t give a shit anymore. Step up sure but damn the bars low.

You forgot to add Madden 97 into the presentation segment. Even back then on the PS1 we already had real tv footage to present the gameday including halftime commentators. Did they talk nonsical phrases? Of course they did and it was great, especially because the real John Madden was one of them. I will never understand why, of all things, they decided to cancel that and instead add whatever this is.
Money demand in their use in such games became too great of an expense for them

I mean a game can't be all trash... seriously... I know it's "cool" to trash games in 2023 but doing a review should be objective and you're objective... also people love to trash anything that has the EA name on it... I bought EA WRC this year and the game in terms of content, rally stages and driving physics is a fucking MASTERPIECE... but you see people calling it "arcade EA trash" just cause it has the name of EA on it...

I don't care who makes the game I just want it to be good. Doesn't matter to me which studio it is I just want a football game that feels like I'm in control of the outcome and has some personality to it.

Here's the thing guys. EA can afford multiple years of product protest. They actually benefit from all of our complaining and ranting on CZcams. Just like the old as days saying any press is good press. Theyre absolutely positively making bad games on purpose. They have so much game development that it's insane but they'll never release it. The whole point is to condition us with bad games so we can appreciate any minor improvements. Period.

What a great review! Very concise and accurate, I really appreciate your effort. I wish I had waited to buy Madden 24, but I didn't as I saw it was an upgrade on the PC to next gen. The comparison of superstar to Hockey was amazing. There is so much potential for Madden, but it's obvious that as long as they have a death grip on licensing (and honestly, the NFL is just as guilty) it's just not going to happen. They've lived long enough to become the villain. EA strives for mediocrity, and they have reached the pinnacle of achievement.
We love Madden. We hate the frostbite engine & EAs outright refusal to ditch the animations and go back to 17 and prior where it was physics-based gameplay. Its that simple.
This is why the last 7 years (inculding 24) passing is too easy and we know the coverage animations presnap by alignment 99.9% of the time. Its why ppl can abuse one formation and run routes to cook animations in coverage.
Prior to 18 you had to manipulate the D while taking whats given trying to set up the big play. You had to chage formations mixing in inside zone runs to keep them honest.

Great review! I'm surprised no reviews mention how robotic and rigid the gameplay is. The players feel like they're wearing 100 pound shoes and move in such mechanical and unrealistic way. I believe Madden 08 was the last version that had players move freely, easily and in an agile manner. The last few Maddens feel like you're controlling rock-em sock-em robots
After playing a few games. The Franchise experience is different. They are giving us a lot of settings to control as Commissioner. I'm still pissy about not seeing who I draft during the draft, but apparently I'm the only one. The gameplay is definitely smoother, but passes feel like they take forever to reach their endpoint. The mini games are a nice (re)addition that I'm sure will cost me a controller or two. There are still some minor bugs too like the red zone attempt counting against you if their offense turns it over within your red zone. I'd really like them to take a year off, focus on all the minor bugs/issues, smoothen everything out, get rid of the spaghetti code, release a true "roster update" and then come back better. Anyhow, most of what I say here is in the well done video. It's my long way of saying ... I concur. Edit, actually the coaching talent tree is different. they added another tree for each one, and the options are different. Minor.
You forgot to mention that upper echelon recievers drop wide open passes and if they do catch it, it doesn't take more than a schoolyard push to knock it out. Aswell as constant missed defensive assignments and general inability to tackle ball carriers, especially as a user.
Legend Bowl is a great indie football game if you don't mind 2d pixels. Simcade with franchise and several options.

I was thinking about getting madden this year and playing it on the steam deck, but I guess ill have to do another year of 2k5 and Madden 07. EA really needs to start over, starting with the engine, Frostbite has been a disaster, its not even good with the game it was built for, Battlefield. I'm exited for Axis football, and Maximum Football this year.

Frostbite was made for Battlefield Bad Company 1, think about that! 😂. It’s actually a good engine (bad company 2, bf3, bf4 and bf1 used it) but it’s old and damn sure not ideal for a sports game. EA is doing the bare minimum with Madden. They literally put more effort into monetization than the gameplay.

Great video! In my opinion you are spot on. I have the last 4 games of madden and they are all pretty much the same. Especially the last 3. It all feels like the same game. I want it to feel like I'm in the game. I want to feel the environment. The Stadium, Weather, Commentary and the music. So far on madden 23 the weather feels the same with every game. The Commentary is old and outdated. And don't get me started on the music. I love every type of music room metal to rap but the music in madden these days is just bad and annoying. It all sounds the same and most i can't even understand it. Shit throw in some Posty and Pantera. Give us a variety of music. So in my opinion i would wait. If you already have 23 then then i wouldn't upgrade.

Good review I agree on everything you said, basically my review that I said before, on other Channels, life, circumstances, and changes doesn’t allow me to have one , I’ll leave it at that, anyway, I upgraded to next GEN last year mid season after my franchise got a raced on my PS4, (and no I did not get an email or any type of discount or nothing, ) so I don’t know if that was a lie, but I got nothing, anyway this version of next GEN is the same as last , I do agree. However, if you have an old GEN and upgrade, it’ll hold you over for the season cause it’s much much better. The Home crowd in the field sense thing I think they do with home-field advantage is pretty cool, and actually one of the best parts of the game my opinion , That’s the only reason that I can even consider paying retail or even the discount (if got one ) that you get from EA play for this game.! Again I’m going to repeat EA is just like Activision con is the same thing over and over same people buy it over and over and until that stops they’re never gonna care take the money away and then they will have to come and change the way they play!!

I dont mean to ride 2k but its insane how much better there ultimate team mode is. Way more customization way better presentation for games sometimes the announcers can even recognize your custom team name. They also dont flood the market with stupid cards till the end of the year. I wish 2k would make a football game just so we can have a better UT

I gave up on mut after last year. It went from a fun game mode to clocking in at the coal mine. I just play some regos. I gained hours of time. I always play madden listening to music or you tube. Good review.

Is there currently a football game that isn't Madden on a current counsol? I know years ago they had the non NFL licensed games, and a few were considered good but discontinued.
My 23 experience was playing a spread-offense quarterback and ended up evolving into a Power I quarterback because running became so easy, especially if you keep doing it all game and wearing the defense out, and DBs were so good at jumping routes and coming out of nowhere. Every single game, have the backs pound for nearly 200 yards, end up passing for like 180 yards and two touchdowns on 24 of 30 passing, but with two picks. Every single game. So my now hyper-conservative game manager quarterback with 80% passing completion and an 80% win rate also has Jameis Winston like TD to Int rates.
The same thing happens in the NHL games, where your goalie will lead the leagues in wins and goals against, but have a garbage save percentage and zero shutouts, just because the AI starts suddenly playing amazing hockey when they're behind coming into the second period, and there's always going to be at least two shots per game that you'll have absolutely zero chance on.
I am in the process right now updating my rosters manually on madden 21 which is the last one I bought
Pc stutters randomly it's something they need to fix... 3080 i7 11700k 64gb ram 980 pro ssd... turing on vsync helps but running at 120 or uncapped is impossible

nah I'm not recording, and i get the stuttering in the menu and i have a R7 3800x 16gig ram and an 3080. And I also get some minor errors like missing menu in superstar an franchise or a XP loop in Superstar, so still a good amount of patching left for the dev team....

The AI needs to make the play fail Even when the movement of the dlineman player makes no sense in relation to where the quarterback is. You throw the ball to an empty flat because the back is still stuck glued to the two-man lineman interaction.
The last madden I bought was Madden 17 for $5 at gamestop. Before that would have been Madden 08 or 10 😂

Mode the same so you can have the career experience as a coach, player, owner, coordinator? Imagine how deep one mode would be rather than two modes that lack any replay ability, depth, realism or immersion.

People that aren't idiots: Well, you put back a few things we already had, so they aren't new. While you gave us new relocation locations, you also took some away. You gave the relocation teams an alternate jersey, but took away two jersey options as there is only one choice.

I came from playing Madden 22 on PC. Which was last gen there as well. So for me M24 is worth it since I skipped 23 because it was still last gen. For me M24 plus mods makes it worth it. Without mods It would be a hard sell.

I hate how they got rid of high-school and college. There's so much potential you could make the player feel like a home town superstar and then show a perspective of what being a college athlete is like. Then when you sign for the NFL you could have morality choices that have consequences for example going out partying causes you to get a dui and you have to deal with media scrutiny. There's so much potential that gets wasted every single year.

The fields all look like they are lit up as your players will glow from below. I have seen players with long hair have their helmets glitch out. Coach's hats glitch out. The new player models for the larger guys look god awful. They look like blobs with Madonna's spike bra underneath. Literally, what is up with those pads. I have never, ever seen any players look like that. Players don't look like they do in real life. There is one stadium that looks like a nuclear bomb just went off in the distance as it is filled with super bright reddish-orange light that blinds you. There are only about 3-4 body types in the game. You know that isn't realistic at all.
I noticed that quite a bit on the Xbox one version, but on PC I haven't seen any crazy hair glitches. I still stand by the games graphics looking great. Madden looks the part but just doesn't play the part
@@WildLionGames Compare Madden to other 2023 games out there. It isn't even close to being on par. It has been an ugly game for a long time. You can fire up NFL Head Coach 09 on PS3 and it honestly holds up against Madden 24.

Wow those pregame clips from older Madden is insane. I never played those older Maddens, and I could never imagine EA putting in that much effort. Who tf cares if Ochocinco & Prime have one cut scene in Superstar mode, it's not even realistic for them to be there. They could have spent that money elsewhere man.
blocking looks much improved and the gameplay is definitely much smoother. I presume once there are a good set of sliders the issue of 'not feeling in control' can be somewhat addressed. However, its definitely a 'wait and purchase when on sale' option for me; nowhere near enough for a buy right now.
Yeah I forgot to mention blocking in my review but it's maybe the highlight of gameplay. The improved blocking is noticeable and the best it's been for Madden

Madden has sucked for years!!! I miss competition in the NFL videogame market.
We need the competition bad. It's just stale. I wanna go back to the day when we had 3 different nfl games to choose from
They became lazy and not caring when they realized “oh we can put a half ass game out since we can always input once it’s out”
I actually like 24 just started playing it though but I agree with you they can more effort into the game and make it more in depth & creative but tbh they probably don’t care about that since their making money anyway lol!
I'm convinced that I'll never buy another Madden again. 19 was the last one I bought and there just flat out isn't an NFL franchise mode video game out there. Still sticking to NBA 2k and MLB the show but damn, I want an NFL franchise mode that is decent. Hell, I'd settle for average at this point. EA needs to lose the license badly.
LOL! Nitpicking galore! Just remember we came from ATARI to this! I do see improvements here and there compared to the previous Madden & that's all that matters to me. You mentioned tackles? In NFL there's gazillion miss tackles & good, bad tackles. But i get it. It's your show & opinion. 👍
Haven't bought the game since '19. Think I'll give this year a go.
First act will be to turn off commentary and music.
You should be happy with it if you're on next gen. Last madden I bought was 18. And even that was meh. But 24 is better than that.

so it's funny how the soccer and nhl games make changes more often than madden and i though it was a make or break year . so when is madden going to use tech from their other sports games like they said they would do . this is why if i buy the game i wait till it's on sale or i just get it every 3rd year witch is sad cause it seems like nothing much changes with in that time
