I was able to do this with my old daw by checking a box within the effect dialog box that said extend past selection. Used it all the time! When I made the move to Cubase I could never figure out how to do that. Huge let down. I even asked around the many Cubase groups out there and no one could give me the answer....and then there's Greg. Ur the man Greg!!! Thank u again!

There are also options in the Direct Offline Process window for extending the process range and activating tail at the top of the direct offline process window.

This was possible even with a Cubase version 10 or 15 years ago. I mean applying effects directly on file but non destructively.

Great tip with the letter J. How do you find all the offline processing ranges in an event, are they marked somehow?

In prior versions of cubase it seems that you could click on the plugin in the plugin window and it would reselect the corresponding range. That seems to have been abandoned (bummer...). Workaround: When you just select a range within an event, in the plugin list you will have a little waveform symbol under "range" so you know that this is just applied to a selection. You can now press the bypass button on the left on and off and you will see the waveform in the project window change, so you can at least identify what effect pertains to what range. But afaik you cant modify the range retroactivly, if you want to expand or minimize the range, you have to delete the effect and start over again with a new range selection.

It would have been nice to have seen printing the effects to a separate track. This is because sometimes you wish to apply more processing that is not possible with the methods shown here. For example, a long delay, where you just want to apply a quick fade to the very last portion of the delay. This is a common requirement for vocal throws.
