Thanks for this balanced overview! Richard Noakes’s recent book “Physics and Psychics” (Cambridge University Press, 2019) draws heavily on the SPR archives, as does my (Andreas Sommer) Ph.D. thesis and subsequent published reconstructions of historical links between psychical research and experimental psychology. Speaking of which, William James (the ‘father’ of US psychology) was the most active American member of the SPR and a close friend of Gurney and Myers. He also collaborated in the SPR Census of Hallucinations, which was commissioned by the International Congress of Experimental Psychology.

I feel like i read peoples minds the information gained is more of a feeling of information not my thoughts of it. My thoughts of it then become my own interpretation of the experience.
