People are really so deep in their Singa hate bias that they cant recognize an actually good song just because its made by Singa. Crazy stuff really. No idea why you even come here if you hate his songs so much, is just too be annoying towards the people who do like this song?

Ngl, this does give off the feeling/vibe of a killer. Which really does fit Walter. Since he is a wolf, someone who breathes from killing. After all his choice of martial arts even has the word "killer"(or at least something like it lol) in it too.

Holy fuck. The part from 1:35 to 1:39 sounds so fucking good. It makes me desperately want the song that that little resolution should belong to. But instead we get this absolute nothing of a song.
SINGA please please just stick to one song and expand upon that. Stop making tracks that "transition" (more like cut abruptly to filler riffing for a few seconds before moving into the next part) into 3 different songs over the course of 2 and a half minutes

@@gackybass Based on what I've seen from the older comments sections that seems to be the case. The CS4 comments sections used to be full of Arvin and co. bashing the music and making fun of Singa. Now that the game has released in the west those comments have been drowned out and sunk to the bottom, replaced by people having a good time. And frankly, I've heard many complaints about the Falcom music comments sections before from various sources. This place is basically just an echo chamber until the bulk of the fanbase arrives.

@@gackybass Disclaimer: Its too early and I didn't sleep perfectly so this is a bit jumbled later on. You prob won't want to read most or more than very little of this as its pretty long since I feel I truly care about this series and the state of the western fandom, so its very long. But I'm going to preface this with the point I was mainly trying to make. For what its worth, in hindsight I feel that Falcom contracting Singa so much allowed Unisuga and Sonoda to really soar in the latter half of CS and in Hajimari. And there's another rub. Falcom doesn't pay Singa much and contract him for cheap, but sometimes make him do many more tracks than usual including cutscene tracks. ESPECIALLY keeping Kuro II in mind with this, I am honestly blown away by the quality he manages to maintain throughout 90% of his music in this game. The new guitarist also breathes some LIFE into some. Hopefully in the future he can utilize her more or just improve his vsts a bit more. It took Unisuga about 4-5 Kiseki games to get to the point at which I deeply love his work, so.
gonna have to go with sheridanmovieguy here man. Falcom is the most niche jrpg developer in the world, they aren't and were never an "industry leader", although Ys music has always been more popular because its always been released in the west timely. He ain't perfect, but most of my favorite Falcom music ends up being Singa or Jindo. Contractors. Because their music is *different*. I'm one of the rare few that isn't even a big fan of stuff like the original Fateful Confrontation, I vastly prefer Severe Blow and think Unisuga's work in Ao and CS far outshines anything he did in Sky.
Everyone has their own tastes and opinions. Literally nothing wrong with that. If Singa was actually making the reception of this series worse, a track like Rise of the Grendel wouldn't be #1 on a Japanese poll of Kuro no Kiseki music popularity from Falcom, when its so clearly a "bad track". I got emotional listening to it for the first few times and still loved it every time it played (yes, I'm actually playing the games still and experiencing the music in gameplay and context. Its pretty good imo!) not just because I think its an amazing track, but because I felt like Singa was paying homage to Unisuga's Blue Destination with the piano parts, which I feel is his magnum opus for Falcom games. Maybe others think differently, and thats fine, but the CS series is and was very special to me, and Blue Destination spoke to me on a whole nother level. And also Diabolic Howl which made Fateful Confrontation EVO look really bad in comparison. But of course whenever Singa tries to do something nice, there's always Mondblut to say something like "Oh now he's stealing from Unisuga." Its mentally draining to be around this fandom sometimes.
Anyway sorry this is getting long, I'm just musing at this point. If you ask me, this small subset of the western fandom is largely very passionate but comes off as obsessive over what they feel is "Falcom Music", when imo Falcom has had so many different internal composers over the years that there was never something you can truly call "Falcom Music". Falcom music to me is what each arc brings to the table. Something new and different. When something like Step Ahead played in Cold Steel III, I was absolutely blown away because instead of "more of whats expected" from Sonoda, Jindo, or Unisuga, or even Saki Momiyama, I was met with something brand new for fighting the Enforcers. It was such an amazing moment because a new style of music made me appreciate the OST more. There's only so many boss themes Jindo or Unisuga can make or cutscene themes Sonoda can make before it becomes less looking forward to the next track, and more knowing that it'll just be more of the same but better. Masayoshi Soken in my honest opinion has better use of leitmotif and keeping things fresh and interesting every time than Falcom composers. I am really going off on a tangent now and there's probably no way anyone's gonna read this. But I say that while acknowledging that Majestic Roar just might be one of the greatest pieces of music I've ever heard. *Especially* because of the use of motif.
At the end of the day, while playing Kuro no Kiseki II, I honestly believe the OST has much more identity now than Kuro, and its pretty great imo. Koguchi might actually end up becoming a mainstay that I enjoy more than Unisuga. Kind of a crazy proposition but totally possible given how much I'm loving his music so far. He brings a sort of energy that really resonates with me. And that there is the beauty of music. Anyway have a good day.

@@zerosolis6664 The main thing I want to refute here is that "falcom was always niche". Firstly, I think you're underestimating how much of a presence they have in japan (although they aren't quite "mainstream", they are FAR from "the most niche developer"), and secondly, I was specifically referring to the context of how they handled soundtracks, and they absolutely were both pioneers and industry leaders on that front.
