  • My first attempt at a 1/16 figure. Easy kit to build and good fun to paint, I will definitely be doing more 1/16 figures in the future. I hope you enjoy the video.

You made a decent job of what looks like a not especially good kit, but if he's supposed to be a Spartiate, where is his long hair? He's just rocking a mullet there! 😅

Easy idea for cutting thread and making sure that the nut will still fit afterwards: Before cutting the thread, make sure that the nut has already been threaded. Once thre thread has been cut, just unscrew the bolt and it will bend back any loose edges amking it easy to screw back on again.

Ahhh where were you three years ago when i needed you 😉 Your tip is spot on and sadly something i only figured out after cocking this one up, but i have learnt from it and haven't had any issues since. Thanks for watching 👍

Have been thinking of doing some figures from that era in that scale, felt a bit weary because of the amount of skin tones to be done, not my best part, but think I will give it a go after watching this video, a nice finish to the job..

Hiya mate great vid I always shy away from skin tones they are my Achillies heel awesome job 😁

+Faron Adams Thanks Faron, I struggle with it too to be honest, I couldn't replicate the exact skin tone on this cos I used so many different colors for the base blending away like a mad man, then just layers of progressively paler washes, it took forever cos I am not a fast painter, I am a serial tinkerer :)

An excellent job ! Your paint work is great. One thing, his sword should be bronze and not steel. Did it tell you the meaning of the symbol you used ? I know the lamba was the symbol of Sparta but never seen the other one. Can't wait to see your next video of one of those kits.

+Ennis Anderson Thanks Ennis, I am glad you liked it. It's not really my historical period, I made it for a mate of by brother in-law under instruction to just follow the box art so I don't really know what the symbol means, it didn't explain anything in the instructions. My only knowledge of Sparta is the original 300 Spartans movie :) I just looked online and couldn't see anything like it which is odd as I would have thought as it was one of two options it would have been fairly common? As far as future 1/16 figure builds, I've seen a few 1/16 WW2 Navel figures and I'm tempted to do a series on them as in between mini projects.

The symbol is called a "dokana". It represented the two sons of King Tyndareus of Lacedaemon: Castor and Polydeuces
