This China blame game is amusing. Convenient for politicians to shift blame when they are the ones who dropped the ball for decades. If China is so dominant on some key supply chains, is because we did not do our homework and now have to resort to protectionist measures that put our weaknesses in full display for the world to see. Embarrassing.
How long will it take to build these supply chains, how much is it going to cost and can we afford to wait and to pay? Extreme weather events are picking up pace, so just blocking China and not building a reliable alternative in time will be catastrophic. Completely irresponsible behaviour.

I would prefer the US China trade war continues. When US bans a particular product or industry, China can build out the whole manufacturing ecosystem of that industry. Within years, China can create the complete supply chain all by itself. As result, it can perform vertical integration and sell everything cheap and still make a profit.
