I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts! - Sport
I love that golf attracts both this guy and a guy like John Daly. Such a beautiful, frustrating game we all love
Well said
seriously went out to the range last week hit awesome and player yesterday and did good and went out to the range today, it was horrible 😭
You just made me love golf that much more

Right? I'll be going through 2 markers per round.
Keep the ball in your bag. Mark it when you get on the green, and then use this ball to putt.
Same here ! 😂😂😂😂😂
Ha ha ha. Putting will not damage the ball surface whatsoever.
Everyone calls him crazy and forgets that he shot -20 in the pga championship less than a month ago🥴. That being said, I think this is nuts 😂😂😂😂😂

I'd like to take this opportunity to share that I finally broke 100 last week. 20 years of golfing is all it took!

Bryson is fast becoming my favorite golfer. His demeanor, attitude has changed for the better. His CZcams channel is full of great lessons. He’s more than just the longest driver …
yeah as time has gone on and I've gotten to see more of him off the course, my opinion of him has gotten better. He seems pretty genuine. Still a bit of nerd but a likable one.
Sorry, I don't buy it at all.

Yeah, I think you may be on to something!? With only 8 career wins and one major he's absolutely tearing up the pro circuit with his ingenuity. Yep!? I think this is working out for him!? "NOT"!

@@psycho.9926 Good one!!
I saw a different video of him doing the same thing. It wasn't explained so much in this short, but I guess the intention is to avoid hitting the edge of dimples that might deflect the ball slightly. He finds two dimples in a line and wants to hit that spot so it's a better/more consistent roll.
Thank you. Putts only, right?
@@claythomas9467 Yeah, and primarily the shorter putts.
It probably wouldn't make much difference for most amateurs, but I can see his method having an impact on greens as fast and pure as pros play.
Appreciate the explanation!

The Belichick of golf
In this case it seems to be an admission that he can't use the more reactive covers that would render this unnecessary, and this is his workaround. Most people don't need to do it.
And it pays off
Because he knows it would hurt other aspects of his game that he’s comfortable with.

John Daly: “i got out of the cart, whacked it with a stick, it flew. Where’s my drink?”
Dalys just raw talent and feel
So good. Always wondered how to draw a straight line on a golf ball. I gotta find one of those mini golf ball helmets.
It seems the ball would want to keep the helmet on for the inevitable clubbing it will receive.
Wow, now I know why I’m missing all the shots !! 🤦🏻♂️😂
Rory needed this guy a couple days ago lol
LOL
💀
The man puts the science into Golf.👍
If you think something works for you, then it will. You make the reality in golf. Same as using a line up mark when putting, all the tests have (apparently) shown that if you believe this helps you then it actually does, if you don't believe it worls for you then it doesn't. The effects are in your own head, but doesn't mean they aren't real.
So true in many parts of life too. Not all, like falling off a building no amount of positive thinking will avoid hitting the ground, but... succeed in a job interview? Absolutely.
Golf is similar to life in that many people compete with similar levels of physical ability, knowledge and skill, but differ in self belief and accordingly in perseverance.
That's why certain elite sports don't see catastrophic failure due to loss of ability, or sudden forgetfulness of proper technique, but simply choking
My mark gets torn away because I hit cart paths and trees quite often.
He hits cart path and trees when he putts???
Before we were allowed to make alignment marks, I'd always put the number facing where I wanted to make putter impact. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if your flat putter face hits different edges of the dimple pattern on each putt, it could create variation in how the ball comes off. Reducing variability and building consistency is how even average golfers can improve.
congrats on the US Open dawg!!! and thank you for the parlay hit!!!!
When he drove the lake at Bay Hill 😂
He's just built different.
He built himself. His average drive before the build was 286 yards.

Tiger talked about doing something similar years ago
Golf and disc golf are both frustratingly difficult, but both are amazingly fun.
In all the terminator body development of Bryson we forget he is a scientist and so keen to share his knowledge. Love this guy!
He’s hitting the edge of the dipole ! wtf man. Dude is super human 😂
He isn't, he just thinks he is.
He’s actually trying to hit in the dimple for more consistent roll. If he were trying to hit the edge of the dimples he would line it up with the -pv1x line already on the ball. They put those lines exactly where the cover of the ball seems together forming a line all the way around the ball where dimples meet up
@@matthewwylie6707 The marks on golf balls do not precisely follow the seam of a ball, if indeed the seam is visible, which on many brands it isn't.
I just looked at a sleeve of Pro V, and the line isn't consistently accurate.
Besides, there's nothing to say that hitting a ball precisely on a single dimple, which would be impossible to do remotely consistently with the exact point of an already uneven putter face would make it roll better.
It's just a theory he has, and not one he has proven to work, just that it makes him feel comfortable, like a Nadal tic, driver waggle etc.

Every pool game has this. Love how he took it into golf. Makes total sense. Its really a cheat code in a way. In pool you can control how it rolls how it spins and how fast you want it. I think this is the same for golf. But still incredibly hard when you think of how far you are to the ball. And what you use to hit it. Golf is hard af! Anything that can make it easier is best

Back spin on putter from five feet from hitting top golf ball yeah he's fucking with us
As soon as you hit the ball at the equator (mid height), it will initially slide forward without rotation, then get rolling from the friction with the grass. Pretty much like an aircraft wheel at touchdown, but in a much more gentle way. Actually, most putters even have a little bit of loft to launch the ball and not have it contact the grass immediately. Just a couple millimeters height before it falls back.
Putters have 3°s or so of loft, which creates back spin. Trying to hit the equator, you could possibly top it.
well it clearly works
biggest tip for Rory
Love his logo on the t shirt. Brilliant player also
Rory might want to take notes on this little trick...
I kid, I kid. Rory is an amazing player. Congrats to Bryson on the W!
I’m with it but you lost me at back spin
There is technically backspin and launch angle on putts because putters do have loft. It’s minuscule (less than half a rotation) and I seriously doubt it makes any difference in the number of holed putts. I’m sure he has data and I’m sure that data shows a difference if some sort. But that probably doesn’t equate to a difference in putts comings up short or long or left or right.
Turns it over more. (He must mean topspin here).
Under puts backspin, causes a skid and slows the speed of the ball. That’s why he say the fast putts matter less, they just power through the skid and start to roll while still moving with good pace.. So, is this a missspeak?
If youve ever lipped out from 5 feet and it lipped all the way back to you half a rotation is a lot
@@mattparker3349 Not in the context of launch. I should note that I mentioned 'less than half a rotation' just to build in some margin of error. We're actually talking about considerably less than half a rotation. Less than a 16th of a rotation.
Either way, it's not going to matter. You don't know if that lipped-out putt would have actually gone another half a millimeter left or half a millimeter right because you hit one or two ridges on a dimple. You're well within the random chance range at that point.
"So this is how I mark my golf balls"

This dude is talking about speed control on a 5 footer. How on earth do you need help controlling speed on a 5 footer?
Speed is one of two things on the green the other is line. Maybe the line needs to be at just the right speed to break into the hole, the golf ball alone could make the ball move faster, slower…. But this is wild lol idk bout this
Somebody’s never putt on greens rolling fastest than a 3
go putt on the greens they are playing and you will know 🤦

Manufacturer should come out with a Bryson ball.. Marked like this
So why not just use the alignment aid already marked on the ball?
Cause they’re not aligned with the dimples.
Almost like you weren’t listening like at all
As much technology that goes into making golf balls they are still very inconsistent from the factory…including the line placed randomly by a machine…Bryson is placing his line based upon physics and after his own level of ball selection he does through additional testing.
@@jklaas4987 your right I missed that part. I will have to try this. Thanks for clarifying.
@JTMayo803 golf ball inconsistencies don’t have anything to do with him marking his ball this way. The alignment aid on the golf ball is going to be as straight as his haphazard job with a marker.
The reason he does this is so he starts the line on the ridge between two dimples so he can set up to hit that ridge with his putter (and marginally change launch angle and spin… maybe… to get the putt rolling quicker or truer.
@ryanb4533 if you understood sentence structure you would realize I never stated Bryson’s line is “more consistent/straighter” than the factory line…
My statement was Bryson CHOOSES where he wants the line to achieve exactly what he desires & describes…which is surprising that you happen to comprehend.

This year, Titleist sent a few home viewers, Golfball GPS Stuff, so that at home viewers can actually keep track of televised golf scores without watching. Sort of like The Crooked Stick Lightening Detector 1997-1999. And all the television golfers get GPSchip monitored balls and some spectators get to take the fun out of the sport of golf.
I can promise you this is not why I'm missing my putts.
Manufacturer should pre-paint those thin sighting lines on the ball for his signature series of balls. I’d like an aiming line to verify roll, etc. and keep you on a line of dimples like he is saying.
Thanks for the opportunity
Eh? What opportunity? What on earth are you on about??
He is the Trevor Bauer of golf.
I heard on a podcast recently about how much shit golfers will impulse buy. A device that's used to draw on a ball just confirms this.
The dimples are for making the ball fly better so by smoothing a few, just a little, I could see how that would allow the ball to roll straighter.
