Wow, huge amount of work involved. This has convinced me it's not a path I'll go down, lol. Looks great.
I wouldn't trust myself with any lasers, I'd probably have a weird urge to look into the line laser đ đ
It's definitely a deep rabbit hole. I researched my Home Theatre project for a few years before I went to work. Saved me tons of frustration. Do your homework, do it some more, then do some more homework before you get started and I don't mean analysis paralysis.
Looking for laser projector ended up learning how to use laser levels and how to stop yourself from getting projector. đ€ and still keeping your wife .
Well done. And it's very convenient that you have wooden walls. Here in Europe most walls are concrete, which makes things a lot more difficult.
Love this video! I've been wanting to re-light my Living room which has no light fixtures. This looks like a lot of work but very doable.
You can take a small shop vac with a 6 foot hose and duct tape one end to the drywall sander handle 2-3 inches away from the wall. Put vacuum on a camera/guitar strap or backpack and vacuum it while you sand.
These videos are so like weirdly relaxing and interesting to watch
Yeah. Iâm not much of a builder. I mean I love to work with wood and build things, but not in the way he does. But I still love these videos.
Excellent video Johnny! love the project itself, but you did an excellent job with the edit on the video. I learned a lot here, and I appreciate you pointing out your mistakes and learning experiences. You gained a new fan today!
Love watching the cat watch you in those timelapses
Johnny, I really enjoyed this video and let me say thanks for not making it a "Part 1 and Part 2" series about 18 min. each. I was so into your build that when you finished I was totally so tired that I had to lie down and rest. Is your other channel open for anyone, I didn't notice an address for it? God Bless my friend.
Hi Frank! you have to click on his channel name "Crafted Workshop" then go to where it says "Channels" click on it then you will see "Crafted Workshop 2" then click that and your there :) Hope that helps...JP
One of the best and most comprehensive videos on ceiling work/home electronics I've seen. Kudos!
I loved the whole project. The only things I'd do differently are, I'd keep the speakers out of the wall and, would probably either removed that door behind the screen or changed the screen location to the opposing wall. The windows wouldn't be a problem because they have to stay close even if you're watching the screen on the actual wall. And oh, I would've hired dry wall people to finish it all off.
Cool project! Awesome projector.
Noticed that door toođł
Great video! Gave me lots of ideas, tips and tricks for my unfinished basement project I'm in the process of designing. Thanks!
Iâd highly recommend getting an area rug with a non slip padding for the room if youâre concerned about acoustics, it will make a world of difference.
j8lech without a doubt, I agree!
How so?
You got This Old Tony on CZcams, and you're wearing a Finnegan shirt, I'm liking this channel more and more every time I watch it
griffin masse Iâve also got a This Old Tony shirt đ
Awesome! I'm building a home theater transformer room in a year and will definitely use some tips!
Just saw this video. Gave me great ideas for my Den/Home Theater Room. Its in the basement and I don't really have the ability to run extra wires through the walls/ceiling. This bulkhead looks like the perfect solution. Thanks!
Thanks for the idea of using the soffit as a wiring conduit! OMG, so helpful!
Thanks man! Currently remodeling my basement and this helped a lot
Excellent job and no corners cut (well, aside from the molding, in which lots of corners were cut ;-p). Attention to detail is amazing. Great timing too, as I'm in the middle of my mancave remodel. I like that modular sectional a lot.
That is brilliant ...well done. I have trouble setting up Alexa never mind installing a full-on theatre or rebuild.
There are very few videos I can watch all the way through but this had me engrossed. You have a great talent and great vision. The whole system, room and lighting is just perfect.
Enjoyed the whole vid and the details on the whole build. Enjoy the final product!
Well done! (Except for that cable...) great poster choices, especially the New Hope artwork!
I did not expect to watch this video in its entirety, but I did. I even backed up and rewatched a few sections. While I'm not (yet) a subscriber, I have to give you major kudos for the video as a whole. Interesting and never boring.
Simply WOW! Great work and attention to detail,. Yes, little overboard with nails & screws but looks really, really nice!
Hi Johnny! You did an incredible job on this project. I absolutely love it! Thanks for sharing and I hope yâall a blessed week my darlings đđœđżâ„ïžâ„ïž
Awesome video man. I really appreciate the effort you put in to make quality content. Great voice overs and of course, links in the description. 10/10
Edit: clicked on "show more"..... dude there are 45 links in that description...45!! Well done, Sir
Epic project, well done to get it all finished in the end!
Great DIY Man Iâm inspired to do something in my living room keep the vids coming
That crown moulding and chair rail looked so good though!
great project, but if you're speaking of a dedicated media room with projector, the 'lack of light' you were complaining about before the reno, is actually the perfect setting for a dedicated home cinema. It's all about creating the only light in the room on that projection screen, and light walls or objects will reflect that light so the whole room appears lit. I know you made this in your living room, which doubles as media room, but then it's not a dedicated room anymore. I have the same thing in my house. I installed a projector in my living room, which has lighter colors on the wall and on the cabinets. I recently added a second projector, but this time in a 'dedicated' room, with black walls and seats. I even put black carpet on the walls to make a noise trap (to keep noise from 'bouncing' off the walls). This of course would not be possible in my living room, but I tell you it's a massive difference in the experience of watching movies and listening to music. The one in the living room only gets used now when I'm watching sports or something with a bunch of friends.
Jeff from diy home renovations has saved your living room with his drywall series
hey man great video. one suggestion if you ever do crown again. when i instal crown instead of using caulking i tend to use pl(construction adhesive) but only small dabs of it on the back. hope that tip helps a little
I would have added a couple of 4x4's to support the mass.
Joking.
Great job it's somewhat more involved than my room
Amazing!! Lots of great ideas for the new room we are building!
Looks great! Personally I would have hid the box next to the projector in the recess and pass through the cables through the projector ceiling mount but I have bad OCD when it comes to cables ;)
Oh one more thing, how does the in wall/ceiling speakers sound?
Once again, great work and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the process on building this room!
I could write a diatribe regarding drywall but I'll keep it pointed and simple. With two people you don't need a support (you called it a dead man) for a sheet less than 3.6m long come in from the ends about a 1/4 of the sheet. With the screws your supposed to use adhesive with drywall and the screws are intended to hold the sheeting til the glue dries and the muddling is done (the are exceptions). The argument that the drywall is removable if you don't adhere the sheeting is not accurate as the screws get muddled anyway. With the broad knives you where using, you want to choke up on the handle towards the blade and put a finger behind the flat surface for feel and control. What you have done obviously worked and got a good finish so Great job with the whole room and the production of your videos is always great quality cheers.
Nice theather to chill out and watch crafted workshop videos:)
Awesome video bro, I did a similar renovation to my living room, and yeah, crown molding can blow your mind when you are trying to cut it lol!
It is definitely super confusing sometimes! Thanks!
Dude, itâs your project with some cool pointers and ideas, thanks. Great job. We all live and learn from our DIY projects but the point it, itâs yours. If you are happy, Iâm happy for you. Enjoy bro.....
Love it!!! From Philippines. Just want to ask why is the screen protrudes to the door?
Really impressive install. Gave me some good ideas for my new HT room. But why did you place the side and rear surrounds so low and so close together? Thanls for the great video.
THE GUY PUT HIS SHOES ON YOUR BRAND NEW COUCH?!! LOL
what an ass lmao
And heâs the CEO of the couch company lmfao
western people are like that as what I noticed đ€
i said the same thing
â@@oh_naur In civilized western countries we take off our shoes when stepping into the home, this is America :P
I'm going to be doing an addition on my home this year and you have me a lot of great ideas for the family room, thanks! You have a great channel.
I've watched this clip starting from the 5 second ad all the way to the end. Enjoyed every second of it.
Thanks a lot!
Outstanding movie choices for the posters!!!
Only watched half so far but itâs great seeing the job site saw in use!
I don't recommend having junction boxes for electrical connections buried in the soffits. If an issue happens your gonna have to tear everything apart and it's against code.
He has access through the recessed lighting holes, no?
All electrical connections are buried in the walls anyway, your point is invalid.
@@stedly the code begs to differ. They all have to be readily accessible in an approved box with a cover. Can't tuck it in the wall or soffit and cover it up.

Dude I can only say waoo for this project. Personally I even got confused on how u managed to get all these sorted. But that was beautiful bruv đđ
Great work total professional when you have the right tools any job is possible.
Awesome work Johnny, sweet setup! đđđ»đđ»đđ»
Love the FSM t-shirt! Great video too!
This is a great DIY project it came out awesome I really donât understand why people always have to thumb down peoples projects and videos is it because they doit a bit different from how you thumbdowners would doit because if thats the case everyone is different therefore everyone does things differently so this guy is doing it how he thinks works better for him and his needs im sure if those of you that thumbed down this video made a DIY video and doing it how you think works better for you there would be people down thumbing your videos because they would disagree with something you did or they would doit differently so lets stop hating on other people hard work and ideas and simply appreciate everyoneâs unique talents man god bless everyone
Great work johnny I love the Build's great work keep you the great work
Suggestion : Try Studio Monitors. You can buy them individually. They are very accurate in response. They are powered with xlr balanced input. All the speakers in surround should be identical. Left center right and surround. jbl lsr 305 or 308 are better option. Their wave guide sound dispersion is excellent. Av receiver with xlr digital output is required for this kind setup.
It's worth noting that you're required to pull a permit and have the work inspected to make these kind of electrical changes (some areas even require a permit and inspection for low voltage wiring). You may or may not need to be licensed, depending on your situation and the local codes/laws. Not getting a permit can come back to bite you 1) If there is a fire or injury 2) If you try to file an insurance claim 3) If a house inspector notices and calls you on the changes when you're trying to sell the property.
Man this one was awesome Johnny. Fantastic job and great gear.
damn.... great work...
how you explain the details ; the camera view ; the backsound etc... everything is perfect
Very nice job! Right now I have 45 deg slopes along the side walls from the 10' to the 11' height. I was thinking about boxing them in with a soffit similar to what you have built here just to make it easier to terminate the tops of the columns I'm planning to build to house the side surround speakers. I'm starting to wonder though, it might be simpler to just come up with a good way to make the tops of the columns with the 45 deg slope.
Your room turned out great, fantastic job!
Iâm guessing you can pull the LED lights out and fish cables through should you need to?
Looks fantastic, great job.. really like the love sac (kinda funny name) sofa
Pretty beautiful job, dude. Looks great!
Hey, Have a look at WiZ bulbs, they may only be available at Home Depot but they are WiFi Bulbs made by Phillips and from what I have seen and experienced they are amazing. Also 2 bulbs for $30 Canadain!
That was great, well doneđ.
I hope you never get an issue with the power or speaker cabling after hiding it all inside.
That could take forever to get to them if needed đ€Ł
So many screws. Love the over build. Great work man! Keep it going!
Great job mate looks amazing i bet it's brilliant for gaming as well of watching films. Did your atmos speakers sound. Scotty UK
Great stuff!, What are the measurements of your room? I will be doing a conversion in our home, and may be adding a room.
I'm sure these long videos are a pain to edit, but we absolutely LOVE the long ones ... that's what she said
Thanks for sharing...nice work! I have a question about the in wall AV connector box and wall plate. Is there a part number for that on Parts Express or is it a custom made piece?
I absolutely enjoyed this.
Just stunning, very well done đ
Really enjoyed this video! I'm currently expanding a bedroom and adding an ensuite bathroom into unused space within my house's roof line. I am using similar wafer LEDs and the caseta system, so easy and nice! Is that color repose gray?
Great job on the 4K Home Theater makeover Johnny! Thank you for sharing the video with us! đđđđJP
Thanks man!
Your very welcome Johnny! Have a great week!đ
Nice video, but there are some issues about your build.
1. Next time put tubes in the Wall for easy switch or extension on installation
2. Befind screen you should paint in Dark color, this will make more relaxing view on screen and a betyder picture without shine problem
3. Removing isolation in outer Wall is making cool-bridge = wet areas and it ruin the walls if there cold outside amd warm inside
Amazing!! Good job Johnny!!
I'm about to help build a she shed for my wife to do her podcast in and I like this video. The one thing I like bet was the light you used for your video! LOL I know the owner of Aputure and it a great light! I have the newer version of the one you have. Great video.
Wow, just wow.
this is really nice man, you're giving me some good ideas for my house... next time you're cutting drywall, make life a little easier on yourself and get a chalk line for layout lol
Simply say you are the best teacher and I love this full video .
i checked this channel from SBH's recommendation now im subscribing for the great content!
Nice Finnegan T-shirt! Oh and also nice job in this room too!
I really appreciate not parting out the build. One video is awesome. Oh and it turned out awesome!
Killed it as always bud. Great video.
Crown is the biggest headache of all. Amazing build.
Crazy amount of work, but it looks great!
I don't think in my entire life I would be able to do a project like that!
Imagine having that much confidence in yourselfđ€·đŒââïž
Sure you can. Iâm a total DIY builder and with Gods grace, CZcams and Pinterest, I get it done.
Sweet transformation, a lot of work but worth it.
Thanks!
Wow. What an awesome project! You are definitely multi-talented. Can you tell me where you got the projector mount? Thanks in advance!
If you want another project, you can use NodeMCU esp8266 to create your own smart blinds, I think all the parts including itâs $5-7 per unit which yields 4 units
Premixed joint compound on fibergalss mesh tape is a giant no-no and will almost always crack within a few years. You need to use hotmud on that type of tape.
Itâs not fiberglass tape, itâs still made of paper.
Nice video! Question: How big was your room? I have a 13 * 11, wondering if that makes a decent media room or not
Hey Johnny, random totally off-topic question: What size are your gauges? I'm working my way up the ladder of stretching but am trying to pick when to take a step back and call it for a while haha. Badass build by the way, love what you did with that cable management, house goals! đ€
Ive seen a few of you videos in the past. I also watch Perkins Brothers videos, i seen that they are helping one of their buddies with the footings for a mini house. Then this videos popped up so i start watching it and realized that was your mini house. I thought that was funny!
Amazing. đŠYou work so hard and are so creative đŠ. So impressed. I love you long sofa and the warm coloured wooden floor and cute sideboar, coffee âtable and everything in that new cinema room apart from these film posters on walls. I. Would not promote any film in my own house and I would prefer some colourful art paintings to add more comfy atmosphere. APART FROM THIS your work is great đŠ
That came out pretty awesome! But I've got to stop watching these with my wife... she's starting to get ideas đ©
Great video!!! I loved the detail!!
Honestly I'd have fitted the 77inch LG CX oled super thin tv, a shelf for the Sonos Atmos and some nice seating and called it a day. It's just better than projectors, especially for gaming.
What I got from this video, âhire a contractor to do the work. đŹâ Man, I wish I had these skills.
Great work...very professional...however, in my novice DIYer opinion, one word: overkill. By the way, love your garage setup.đ
Beautiful project. I could probably emulate such a a DIY project myself, if only it weren't for the lack of tools , having the patience and time, understanding the math, not having access to a garage and the money needed, along with the wife's' approval of letting me do it in the first place.
