ENJOY!
This car takes me back to 1963! I was 6 years old and my father sold new Chevrolet's. One night after work he brought a new Daytona Blue Corvette home to give my sister and me a ride in. Being the youngest I had to ride back in the cargo area. I truly believe that moment was the moment that I fell in love with cars!
Hi Scott Rasmussen, Happy to read this car brings back memories of the car your Dad brought home to take a ride in :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
what an anecdote lol, I think I should be one of the youngest in this channel, I will not lie. I would have liked to belong to that time but, at least there are still some of those jewels and we can enjoy them and see them today driving in our roads. I have a deep love to this Corvette in special
Lou. I am a former editor at Hemmings. I had the pleasure of driving a 63 FI SWC while I worked there. Was not a ZO6, but was Bloomington Gold certified. One of the most beautiful cars ever. Thank you for your awesome videos.
Hi George Mattar, Clearly a wonderful / memorable car :-) Would be lovely to get some press on what I'm doing in Hemmings, so if you still know people there, would love to hear from someone :-) My pleasure sharing with you, Lou
Wow what a car! This has to be one of your best episodes! Always loved the 63 Vettes, and this has to be the nicest one ever filmed! Thanks!
Hi Robert Smith, High praise for this episode :-) You're welcome, Lou
Home run with this Corvette. My favorite year and color. 💙
Hi David Kastin, Winner :-) Lou
I’ve never seen a Corvette I didn’t like!! The 63 is high on my list of great Corvettes, and this one is head and shoulders above almost all! Thanks Charlie, and thanks so much Lou. You always come up with the best stuff!
Hi Fred and Debra MacDonald, Happy to share this treat with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
Lou, you never cease to amaze me with the cars that you find. My jaw dropped when I saw this one. I agree with you 100% the color is magnificent. Thank you so very much, I had to watch it twice.
Hi Rich, So nice, I had to watch it twice :-) Happy to share the cars & stories I find with you, and you're welcome, Lou
just my favorite generation of the Corvette, The C2. Amazingly looking with that dytona blue, thank you so much Lou as always. Love it. Im Everyday learning something new from the past on each video you post haha :D
Hi techmaniac43, Happy to read this one is a favorite of yours :-) Happy to share with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Awesome video Lou love watching your channel. First time I have ever seen a video of one of those Corvettes. In Tom Cotter's book The Corvette in the Barn, he finds one that was parked in 1964 because the owner got his driver's license taken away because of all the speeding tickets he was getting in the Corvette. It was parked in late 1964 with only 7,500 miles on it. The car sold but didn't say for how much.
Hi PlymouthDuster 225
, Happy to share this Corvette with you :-) Thank you for sharing the fun story of the 1964 car too, Lou
Hi Lou, I just noticed you passed 70K subscribers so Congratulations!
Thank you Right Lane Hog :-)
@@loucostabile I want so say thanks to you for all your work and to your guests for sharing their fine cars!!
@@rightlanehog3151 Thank you for having fun with me, and encouraging me on the Channel :-) Glad you're along for the ride.
Another great video, a friend of mine at work that worked at a GM dealership told me back in the day a few people had the rear split glass partisan removed and installed a 64 rear glass >> wonder how many went back and reversed the procedure ?
Hi music makes us happy, Happy to read you enjoy this episode :-) Not sure how many went back to one rear window :-0 Lou
That would involve some body work.
Wow.
My "Dream Car" for oh...
about 50 years!
Thanks for these episodes, Lou...
Hi Dave, You have great taste in cars :-) You're welcome, Lou
This '63 is outstanding in every aspect! The "Car Story" is as well, because it gives all of us hope that some day we too, will go from reading Hemmings to finding & acquiring our dream car! Thanks, Lou!
I check Hemmings online daily. Lots of fun.
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, Hope you're behind your "dream car" soon :-) You're welcome, Lou
Nothing beats the split window. Beautiful!
High praise :-)
WoW! Lou you had me on the edge of my seat with this one. What a Beautiful time capsule. 1963 Sting Ray, 327 / 360 HP, 6500 rpm redline, 4 speed, Amazing .....
foot note,... Also available for the first time ever on a Corvette was a special performance equipment package the RPO Z06, for $1,818.45. These Corvettes came to be known as the "Big Tanks" because the package initially had a 36.5-US-gallon (138 l; 30.4 imp gal) gas tank versus the standard 20-gallon for races such as Sebring and Daytona. At first, the package was only available on coupes because the oversized tank would not fit in the convertible.
Hi Newton Washinton, High praise for this Corvette :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
OMG ...It's like brand new , who doesn't want a 63 Split Window ! thanks again Lou .
I'll take this one !!! :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome rudy52350
An amazing find, a beauty beyond words.
High praise :-)
Awesome, Lou. Those revs!!
Wow, that took me back to 68, as my Company Commander in Bragg had a 63 , but a red one.
One Friday night upon leaving the Officer’s Club, he asked me if I wanted to go for a spin....
What do you think I replied?
Unforgettable fun!
Hi Guillermo Garraton, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Commander's car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
It was fairly common for graduates coming out of the military academies to treat themselves to a new Corvette. My brother was too frugal, opted for the Corvair.
Beautiful 1963 Corvette and thanks Lou for showing your excellent video of it!
Hi JackFlemingFan
, You have great taste :-) Glad to read you enjoy this one, and thank you for the positive words on this video. You're welcome, Lou
The most beautiful Corvette ever produced. 😀
High praise for this one :-)
The blue and beige combo is AWESOME.
Happy to read you enjoy the color combo and think it's "AWESOME" :-)
Wow! what a great 63 split window and that color is awesome.
Hi Christopher, High praise :-) Lou
THAT is an amazing car! It just goes without saying it’s a rare piece of automotive history and probably one of the most valuable pieces, too. I never knew these came in Daytona blue with beige interior. I never realized how low the arm rests are on the doors...one sits low in this car. Thanks Lou and Charlie for a wonderful showing!
Hi Rusty, Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Thank you for viewing and sharing.
My goodness, what a SWEET '63 Stingray........and a factory mechanical fuel-injected Z06 at that!!! A 327 making 360 hp back then was just amazing. Still is. It's a shame so many people, including techs/mechanics back then, didn't fully understand how to maintain & tune that mechanical fuel injection, so many of these were replaced with a different intake & 4 bbl carb. Which makes ones like this that still has the factory fuel injection even rarer, and so special. THANK YOU!!!
High praise :-) You're welcome.
In storage since 76.... Man, was that a great find!
Hi Debbie Dunn, Agreed :-) Lou
This is one beautiful car, the 63 split window is the most beautiful car Chevrolet ever built, the color combination on this one is beautiful. If you get the chance, film a 63 with the saddle tan exterior color, it is beautiful, seen one this weekend. You did a great job on this video, as always, thanks for sharing this beautiful 63 split window.
Hi William, High praise for this car :-) Thank you for the kind words on this video, and it's appreciated, Lou
Hi Lou,
I think you were more excited than the viewers.
That is one gorgeous Corvette, I must admit I am not the biggest fan of Corvettes but I can be persuaded, & the more I read about them the more I appreciate them, & this 1963 knows how to persuade.
What a find, what a story, everyone is happy.
Great video again.
Your number 1 Fan in Australia
Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍
H Louis In Australia my # 1 Fan, This Corvette makes it easy to become interested in the Corvette :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
cool car Lou. 327 is one of my favorite engines of all time. Rochester fuel injection makes it that much better. thanks for the video and work you put in for everyone.
Hi Kurt, Happy to read you appreciate the 327 & fuel injection in this car :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome. Lou
Hi Lou! Charlie was absolutely right about that car. It’s the right color and has the right options. Beautiful car!

Hi Greg, You're right :-) Lou
A GORGEOUS example of the Corvette most collectors want.. The Split Window Fuelie..
Winner Corvette for sure :-)
OK well this is my number one ALL-TIME favourite car. Non better and of course with 360hp 327 with Rochester mechanical Fuel Injection. As good as it gets. WOW!!! Thanks Charlie for sharing & what a spectacular car purchase. Bravo my friend. Thx Lou, great coverage of a simply knockout car. Droolling.
Hi D Wnright
, Happy to read this car is a Winner :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
My favorite year, my favorite color! Beautiful car.
Winner :-)
The Z06 still used drum brakes but the backing plates were open and screened and had built in cooling fins that spun to cool the brakes, also had special brake pads. Quite a system for it's time.

Hi bob crawford, Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
Nothing is better than the New Car Smell!! In fact, I think I am going to visit the local new car car-dealer and test smell every new car and truck he has on his lot! Only my cover story would be, "Man - like - I gotta vibe a new car before I buy. Ya dig?". I think I was kidding, but the more I think about it..., (heh). Super awesome Vette! Its still hard to imagine it retaining the new car smell all these years. Amazing!
Hi ImTheDaveman, Believe me, I was not expecting to open the door, and have it smell new. That, like the rest of this car, is wonderful, Lou
Thanks guys!
Exclusive
And incredible
Glad to share with you Finn Green :-) You're welcome.
Great. I loved that bit "It took 1st Place".
Hi glen kepic, What other place could this car take? :-) Lou
This is not just a Corvette . This is " THE CORVETTE " . I wasn't expecting anything when I clicked but , I forgot who makes these videos . Lou only finds the best of the best . Thanks for posting .
Just curious , is this guy associated with Lingenfelter Engineering ?
Hi Bud Lee, This is " THE CORVETTE " I like that :-) Lou
Good job, Lou!
Thank you Kevin!
Absolutely magnificent. Thanks Lou. John in London.
High praise from John in London :-) Thank you!
My favorite color combination. That's gotta be every bit of $1 million. Wow!! I was born in fall '62 so me and these cars entered the world at the same time. :))

That Vette and Farrah Fawcett and me. Oh did I make a reference to Charlie’s Angel!!! Well Lou Charlie has a hell of a beautiful Vette!!!
Hi Joe Smith, The car & the Girl, a very nice combo :-) Lou
Wow! Once again Lou finds a great car for us to view. I agree that the Daytona blue is a spectacular color. And it's a fuelie . Love the 63 Corvettes
Hi David Davis, A top Corvette for sure :-) My pleasure sharing with you, Lou
WOW!!! Sounds like Charlie was looking for a long time. Perseverance paid off for him. Very nice. I'm curious and aren't you as to what he paid for it. And yes I have to say the 63-67 coupes are in my opinion, the best looking vettes and of course the SW is at the top. Great find Lou on your part.
Hi JonH3234, Good things happen to those who wait :-) Happy to read you enjoy this find, Lou
@@loucostabile For sure on the ' Good things happen to those that wait '. And might I mention, I acquired a 66 coupe, 327 power glide, PW, PS, P antenna, telescoping steering wheel, in 1975. Paid 4 grand for it. I did a partial restoration on it and then sold it in the mid 80's. One of several cars I wished I could have kept.😥
@@jsh3234 Sounds like a great car, and thanks for sharing.
Beautiful car any day of the week
Winner :-)
Lou you have out done yourself with this sweet girl what a sweet 63 split window a GEM she makes my heart go pitty patter damb

That’s what I call a nasty beast sound in a good way though if I had that type of car I’d be stepping on that peddle every time lol great video Lou!!!
Hi Danny Al, Happy to read you enjoy this "nasty beast" :-) Glad to read you enjoy this episode, Lou
I wish I was Charlie’s favorite cousin Great video Lou
Hi Chuck Van, That would be nice :-) Thank you for the kind words on this video, Lou
On my FJ 1200 Yamaha. Round a corner onto a 1/2 mile straight. Camaro challenges on my left. Rolled on the throttle and watched that Camaro leave me for dead. Never happened before or after on that very fast FJ. Found out later it was a well known local with a Lingenfelter Camaro.
wow.... FJ 1200 very fast bike, a friend had one I used to ride, fastest thing I ever got my hands on.
That's a fun story of a fast Camaro :-)
When I first saw this on the road I was addicted!
I can understand how that could happen :-)
Early Z06 coupes came standard with the "big tank "36.5 gallon gas tank. Later when offered on the convertible it became an option.
Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge.
What A Car!
WOW!
High praise :-)
The 61 and its variation as the built series was the result of Bill Mitchell's
mako shark, which he got the idea for when he was shark fishing in
Bimini. At least that's the record. Win on sunday sell on monday. This
here is a gem from the era as unlimited
cars where built. These sting
ray can carriy the crossed flags rightly and not like later models...
they had only 150hp (74 & 75)
Langenfelder, seems the owner has european roots. Austria, Germany
From here again a 'wow', Lou. Blue cars where always a trap for me
but then only 199 in '63 where with f.i., you/we can't be picky if one
likes
this comes up. This green roadster (a 67?) next to it looks also decent.
Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge.
The Split Window...AND it's a Fuelie!
Win / Win
Lovely 😍
Happy to read you think this car is "Lovely" :-)
I *believe* saddle interior was rare for 63 as well, especially on a fuelie
Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge :-)
😎 that he has the original window sticker for this..
Fun to see the details :-)
Beautiful car
:-)
Spectacular car. I can only imagine what this car is worth.✌
Happy to read you appreciate this car :-)
Bout half a Million ish.
Great car and story
Hi acts2210, Happy to read you enjoy this episode :-) Lou
If I had that car, I would move out into my garage.
Thanks for making me laugh out loud :-)
That's the downside to owning a great car. You develop paranoia over people touching it, ramming it, or worse yet ….stealing it.
Good video, much appreciated. Cool car.
Hi Scott Massey, Happy to read you enjoy this video :-) Lou
Awesome Lou, cream of the Crop!!
Hi Ed B., Happy to read you enjoy this "awesome" Corvette :-) Me too, Lou
Beautiful!!!
Hi Kram Nevets, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
The only Vette you *shouldn't* modify even tho they drive like trucks in stock condition. I like them, but to make them nice drivers would de valuate it immediately. I wish someone made a split window piece to install on 64' to 66's just for the look and fun of it
Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts :-)
To clarify a comment here. Leather seats first available for 63 model year only in tan.
Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge.
INCREDIBLE Lou! 1963 $6000 you could buy 3 new Ford Falcons. But with inflation that is $51K in todays money. Same as a New 2020 Corvette with a little more HP. Which one would you like to own? This 1963 or a 2020 Vette?
Hi gene978, High praise for this car :-) I think they are two awesome cars and I'd love to have each. However if I could only have one I'd go with the 1963. How about you? Lou
OMG THAT LOOKS LIKE A 63 VETTE I HAD IN PENNA THAT MY MOTHER SOLD IN 1966-70 WHILE I WAS IN VIET-NAM AFTER MY GRAND-MOM PASSED WHERE I HAD IT STORED IN HER GARAGE..COULD IT BE MY MISSING VETTE??? TKS MY FRIEND BTW SHE SOLD IT FOR 300.00 DOLLARS..AS SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS WORTH...

Sweet 😀
Glad to read you enjoy this "Sweet" Corvette :-)
@@loucostabile 😀
The second generation body style was by far Corvette's best, but I'm firmly in the camp of the split rear window being utterly ridiculous. It was a miss in both form and function.
Hi David Broughall

150 before mine came off the line.
Thank you for viewing and sharing.
I've always had mixed feelings about these restored cars. They are marvels of design and engineering, but the car never did what it was built to do: race. Better that it be raced and run into the ground than to be just a show pony. But then, future generations wouldn't see what could be achieved when design and engineering come together so well. Like I said, mixed feelings.
