      $140’000 with inflation costs recently in Canada.
      Everything in general is overpriced cause governments want more money from us, to do absolutely nothing with economy.
      Looking for a new car soon and even the most basic cars are like 30’000!

      @@tinleo3339you're lying, I can literally see some at auctions going for 50k, unless you're buying a REALLY expensive version/newer model but I HIGHLY doubt anyone would buy it for that price. Insane.

      @@Kiule2 I've seen some go for about $65K at auctions (after a few bids..for really low mileage 2013 models). I have seen some '14 models go for about $55K (which is strange since it is essentially the same car with very few differences and one year newer). The track pack cars and also the glass roof equipped ones seem to run higher. I haven't seen any convertibles at the auctions though...

    I just sold my BMW M3 and was looking for a Mercedes S550. When I pulled into the lot I saw they had a used shelby. While test driving the S550 all I could think about was that shelby. So I made the mistake of test driving it. Holy shit the power of this thing! You barely press the gas on the highway and you fly past everyone no problem. It looks and sounds mean. I'm not a fan of the shifter. Maybe because I'm used to BMWs but this car is amazing. You could feel the power of this car even going 35 mph. Very stiff and fast ride that gets your heart pumping. I have always been a Ford fan but they really impressed me with this Shelby gt500. This girl loves her Shelby!

    I am a GM guy. As a graduation present my parents bought me a brand new 1989 Pontiac Trans-Am GTA in Flame Red Metallic. I remember the Mustang GT 5.0 of the day being a handful if equipped with the manual. GTAs only came with the auto if you had the 350 cubic. Size down to the 305 and you could get the manual. I never liked those Mustangs much. Fast forward to the early 2000s and the C5 Z06 caught my eye. My wife and I ended up grabbing a 2003 and had it till she was smashed in to by an unlicensed and uninsured illegal alien. Now it's 2022 and if you can believe it recently saw my first 2013-14 GT500 just the other day. After a decade in Arizona, seven years in Houston, and now 2 years in Florida I finally see my first GT500 of that generation up close. The presence of the thing is unmistakable. Pictures and videos do not do the car justice. I have been around Vettes, Camaros, and the Mopar trash they call cars and they are what they are. The Shelby has a presence I liken to a McLaren or Ferrari. Hear me out. With the right pieces added to the car it looks menacing. That snake emblems and many emblems at that. Just knowing Carroll put his stamp of approval on the car. The last two years in fact with the 2013-14. Even with all the Mustangs running around out there and many of them posing as a Shelby with their added badges or Shelby nameplate or rocker panel stripes. It doesn't take away from the Shelby exclusivity of the car. The new ones are bad ass and perform the way I like my cars to perform, but lack the Shelby mystique. My wife and I are looking to put a sports car back in the garage and the 2013-14 GT500 is on our short list.

    Amazing MPGs from this beast! I drive a 2012 F150 short bed regular cab 3.7 V6 auto, averaging 12.4 mpg & engine is in top condition; has never been higher. I'm also a conservative driver who rolls along with traffic, not jamming the accelerator to stay ahead in the fast lane. I've always been disappointed with the very low fuel economy for the 3.7

    • @Malaziel
      @Malaziel Před rokem +1

      That 3.7 is a decently reliable engine but it doesn’t do you any favors at the pump. Even in the V6 Mustangs back when they sold them with it they had nearly the same economy as the V8 GTs with far less thrills.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 Před 2 lety +1

      @@searaydrivingguy it's like 95% due to the different blower. Not only did the 5.8 receive a better 2.3 tvs vs a 2.1 non tvs on the 12 its also spinning a decent bit faster doing like 14 psi stock vs 9 psi for the 12. Put the same blower on a 12 it makes comparable power to the 13 with the 5.4. Imo the 5.4 is the better motor once modded. They can all take about 800 hp on a stock motor but the 5.4 seems to hold up better from what I've seen at higher power levels.
      With all that said people see stock hp is lower on the 5.4 cars so they automatically think potential must be lower that couldn't be further from the truth. Swap that head unit out for a trinity 2.3 or even better a vmp tvs the 5.4 is every bit as good. On paper the 5.8 had various small changes but in the real world the better blower and the fact it was pushing more boost stock was 95% of the power difference. The 5.4 cars have the same badass tr6060 trans and the motor is just as stout if not more so. I am very familiar with how over looked the 5.4 cars are being the owner of an 07. Mine is at 550 rwhp with simple bolt ons I don't even have headers. I have a vmp gen3r 2650 tvs I got on black Friday from vmp for 3499 brand new when I swap the blower in the spring it'll be more than a match for most 13-14 cars with similar mods. The earlier cars were just more restricted stock ecspecially 07-09 but once modded they're all just as capable. The 5.8 is overrated and the 5.4 is underrated.

    Ford has GM to thank for some good engines. Camaro SS came out in 2010, in 2011 Ford dropped the 5.0. After the ZL1 was released, Ford bumped the engine to 5.8 liters and 662 horsepower. Competition is a great thing

    • @cobramanphil
      @cobramanphil Před 5 lety +2

      Robert Smith: I thought Ford dropped the 5.0 in '96 for mustangs and moved to the 4.6 initially for the 96+ Mustang years and then put a 4 valve 281 (still 4.6) Supercharged motor in the '03/'04 Cobras? From 2002-2009 due to low sales the camaro was dropped and the mustang had no camaro competition. The SS/Camaro was brought in because it really really needed to (mustang had no camaro competition since 2002 and since the modern GT500 came out in 2007 with 500hp). The ZL1 was brought in to eclipse the then current GT500 (had 550hp at the time) with the new 580hp ZL1. Unfortunately Ford crashed that coming out party by announcing the 662hp '13 GT500. I think both car companies have to thank each other for the competition. It did not look good for Camaro since 2002 and it did take while, but I am glad the last generation of ZL1 came out with 650hp. Without that competition the 2020 GT500 (probably 775hp) would probably not be coming out.

    I don't know if it's because this was the last car Carroll Shelby was involved in (Even to a small degree), but looking back now, this car was something awesome. Don't get me wrong, the new 2020 Shelby GT500 is cool. But the 2013-14 just seems more appealing to me. I think it's a better looking car, with a proper stick-shift. 662 hp was huge before the Hellcat came along, and best of all this was a true 200 mph capable car. They took an old-fashioned solid axle platform a and worked some engineering magic to make it so awesome. It was a flagship muscle car. The new car, as incredible as it is, seems more track day niche market to me.

      @@Steve_Milo well if it should be that way, why does the 2020 gt500 come in automatic only? Not to mentikn its a dual clutch which is ultra fast. And i dont care how professional you are. You can still get beated by a well made and programed automatic like the 10 speed in the zl1 1le vs a 6 speed. Btw, we have paddle shifters to keep the rpms within range in the corners. And what if someone just wants to have a auto to let the car do what its supposed to do and you just sit there and chill while you cruise down the road. Its my money. I shouldnt have to buy an automatic and get ridiculed by you or others that oppose automatics for some stupid reason. Ive driven a manual before and the only thing that happened was me cutting off the engine like 9 times. Even when i got it in gear and started shifting (i was driving a 2017 challenger scatpack manual), i didnt feel any sensation or fun that alot of ppl speak about so much. So i basically did not enjoy my time driving a manual. I can just put the automatic gear shifterinto manual mode and change geads using the paddle shifters. And since ive got 8 gears or more to play with, it in a way adds more fun because there's more combinations than 6 gears. Yes you have the 3.73 gearing to a rather shorter gearing set that autos typically have, but the extra gears compensate for that. Not to mention you can get better mpg if ur cruising with an auto than with a manual. Yes ur not concerned with fuel when you have a muscle car. But who doesnt wanna get the best out of their cars when it counts? I do. Also a final thing. Autos nowadays come with remote start and not manuals. Most cars will automatically turn on the ac and vented seats if equipped when its hot outside (like here in houston where its almost always hot and humid) and in the winter time will get the oil running to operating temp while the heater and heated seats and sterring wheel (if equipped) will get started and warmed up. You cant do that with manuals.

    • @blackice7408
      @blackice7408 Před 3 lety

      @@Steve_Milo im talking about remote start. Cars equipped with remote start must have a automatic transmission for obvious reasons. It might be a feature worth having for someone who aants to either just start up their car from a distance or to have a more comfortable inside. Its just a feature that manuals dont get to have. So if someone wants remote srart, they have to sacrifice the manual. And why is it that across the board on the 3 american muscle car brands, the automatic variant has a higher rated mpg in city and/or highway than its manual variant - even if its a gain in 1 mpg? For example, the challenger manual scatpack is rated at 14/23 while the automatic is rated at 15/25. And for the manual scatpack, you have to pay a $1000 gas guzzler tax. With the auto, you dont

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 Před 2 lety

      @@philbella8497 that is over half a second and 9 mph trap speed. A 13 would walk away hard from a 18 5.0 stock vs stock. The gearing in the 10 speed helps the 5.0 get a fast et for the mph for being stock but at the end of the day it's trapping 9 mph less that is pretty significant. The 5.0 wouldn't be nowhere near as fun to drive. That 11.2 at 128 in one of those gt500s would be alot more sketchy and alot more visceral and brutal vs that smooth 11.8 at 119. On paper it don't seem like a big difference but the actual experience would be worlds apart. It isnt always just about numbers.

    Not yet. Was looking at a blacked out one day after Thanksgiving, with the black stripes. Sexy beast no doubt. But after looking at about 5 professional reviews on youtube, there was a common theme: 1) fun to drive (because of the way the pony dances), 2) tons of power, 3) serious brake fade early into aggressive dirving (car just won't stop) and I can believe this because after seeing how BIG the disks are, teh calipers are just too small, and 4) oil temp gets way to hot on aggr driving.

    It goes both ways. Everyone has their favorite car or brand. There are plenty of Euro fans that put down the Shelby simply because it is not a European car and a lot of times simply because it is an American car. I don't get upset. I just shrug it off and chalk if off as just another non-car enthusiast that have no clue how to appreciate all the makes and models and types of cars. Like a I said before..it is simply a car. It does not push you up the real social rankings.

    That's one of the major issues, I completely agree. People talk about cars they don't know. I've driven a '12 GT500 from Boulder CO to San Fransisco, with stops in Vegas and Phoenix, so not short trip really. I don't get it. It is IMO, not a good car, no matter the price. I find that there's so many levels on which, it simply does not work. Yes it's simple and it's cheaper than many other sportscars, but honestly, you get what you pay for, and in this case, not even that. Just my o2 on that car.
