- This is our first time shooting with So Cal Rods & Customs but won't be the last since they build some pretty amazing rides like this stunning '65 Chevelle they built close to 15 years ago. It runs a 383 stroker engine making about 450 horsepower, is on air suspension for that perfect stance and has some truly amazing metal work so sit back and enjoy the ride...

I honestly did not intend on watching this whole video when it started. But I got sucked in real quick with Sean’s interviewing and the builder’s attention to detail. Slick, slick stuff.

I doubt there will ever be a sicker build from an engineering and metal fab perspective than this car or one from his shop. Unfathomable to the point where I can't wrap my head around the thought processes and man-hours. Thanks!

I've had 3 '64 Malibu SSs. They're perfect from the factory. One car I prefer stock with the exception of stance and wheels. I've never seen a radical custom I like better than the original styling.

I've never loved cars without roof (I use to say they got camper tent for roof 😁), but the work done on this Chevelle is absolutely huge and cute. And the color.....Woaooooow !😉

Truly appreciate the look of this car, I adore the orange paint and all the attention to detail. 450hp ok, maybe with a 200 shot of nos, lol. Brother, the wife and I, just found at a local Junkyard a 1971 Mustang mach 1 351C C6 car, and it's all there, and now It's in our backyard, lol.

I think with a different color, different wheels, no chrome, and a different steering wheel this car would look like it was built yesterday.
The sealed beam headlights, thin a pillar, incandescent tail lights and no bumper cover would give it away. Definitely looks good though.

That's an awesome car , great thought out build 👍🏽👍🏽 great he builds them with maintenance involved, the new cars now are crap for working on lol I'm having problems of sorting my junk as getting the wrong part's, then shipping companies losing my parcel but I got my money back on that one, but still need to get new one's so will get one here and the rest I can change later, wished I didn't start and got a older car but it's the only one that looks this way lol

I looked at this car at the Murrieta Rod Run '22 and was amazed at the amount of mods made. I had no idea it was built 15 years ago, and I appreciate the fine details included at that time. Thanks for pointing out all the hidden items that I missed during my walk around.

As soon as I seen how old the stuff on the car was I about turned it off. The builder kept me hooked with his detail and reasoning at the time of the build. Would love to see it modernized by this fella.

I'd put a built 10:1 400sbc with a bottle in the trunk...turbos are cool, but nitrous is NOW....and one could daily drive and go to the track...just turn the bottle on, race and drive home. A four speed trans would be great for cruising or long road trips.
This car woulda been the shit in 2008, aged well except for a couple small items. Easily could replace the steering wheel and wheels on this and it would stack up with a modern build

I love the color. And there is definitely an impressive amount of work on the car. But to me, there is too much metal changing. I couldn't recognize what the car even was from the thumbnail.
Being 15 years old on the build there’s things they wouldn’t do today but sure is amazing work

Best orange I've ever seen, this car is so tight, buttoned up and smooth that it looks fake....never seen an engine where there's almost no wires and hoses showing. wtf?
This is a 64 with square nose profile a 65 had more of a pointed fender, 64 has the split tailights 65 had solid one piece tailight, bumpers for a 65 are much cleaner looking.

I fucking hate it. I understand it was an older build & they didn't have much to start with, but it's hideous. I do appreciate the craftsmanship, though. There's a lot of fucking work & money there, it's extremely well done, just not my taste.

Gotta love the 64-65 vintage. Not getting why retrofitting to 64 is a "thing". Both 64 and 65 were unique in their styling and were wonderful / beautiful as delivered from GM... you know back during the era when GM performed real sheet metal changes year to year as is exhibited here. The exterior rear view mirrors... NOT a fan... real S*it Show stuff here. Having owned a 64 SS it wins the Polished Turd contest, IMO.
