Something I love about this filter is the fact that you can push the original contrast back into the image in post (if you don't want the "low contrast look"), but you still get the beautiful bloom and soft smearing of highlights. It can actually result in a very filmic look, as real film stock is often processed for high contrast in movies. I use the 20% and sometimes 10% filter with the Red Komodo these days, and I ended up making versions of all the stock RED correction LUTs that have just a tiny bit more contrast with a slightly lower black point, to add back what the CineBloom takes away. Leaving in the lowered contrast is very stylistically appealing for some projects, though

hey! sorry I didn't see this till now! for sure! its great that you have the ability to add in or leave the contrast that the filter gives you. the flexibility is great!!

Shocked you only have 300 subscribers! Your channel is already very professional. That opening was fantastic.

I use the 5% Cinebloom on all my lenses for my Nikon D850. I use digital primarily for special projects like historic architecture requiring color and the Cinebloom 5% is just enough to take the clinically sharp edge off the digital output. I shoot mostly large format B&W film for everything else and so when I need to use digital for these specialized projects, I didn't want that razor sharp look that would make my digital work stand apart from the LF film work. The Cinebloom 5% definitely delivers on that. Highly recommended for anyone who has similar goals.

I got 5%, 10%, and 20% because I can get a more consistent look across scenes and lighting conditions by changing filter strengths. After a while you get good at looking at the light and saying this is a 5, 10, or 20 light. I also find lower percentages are better at night, while higher percentages are usually needed during the day. Also larger format sensors mostly need lower diffusion percentages, while smaller sensors get improved by more diffusion. A diffusion filter over an anamorphic lens on a phone takes away that made-on-a-phone look and dramatically improves the footage. A full frame sensor, on the other hand already looks more cinematic, and so needs less diffusion to get a good look.

Great review and nice editing! I’ve been using the 20% since the beginning of the year. Right, it’s not for every situation but I gotta say I like keeping it attached to my main lens! I find I can control some of that over-bloomyness by just upping contrast i-camera

yeah man i really love the look it provides.however I have had an issue with the filter thread. i think its just starting to break. it wont thread onto my lens. and I don't want to mess up the lens thread haha. I'm thinking about making an update video about this.

Hey Micah - Good review! just bought the 10% and then they brought out the 5% (sigh). Still planning to get it though for the price. 20% is way too much for me. btw you have a very natural CZcamsr vibe, and I anticipate that you’ll do really well on the platform if you want that. Good luck! Btw…what camera are you using?

Do not buy the Cinebloom filter from Moment if you need your gear in a timely manner. I paid for one of their filters on Monday. 4days later Thursday came along and the filter still hasn’t shipped out lol. 🤦🏻‍♂️
