I like the song, and whether you are mormon or not (I am very much not), you can count on the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to provide you with a pitch-perfect performance.
i couldn't remember how this one went, then I heard this and floods of memories of when the church was great flooded in. why throw away such a beautiful song? oh yeah, not loud and flashy enough.
O LORD my God, how excellent is thine name in all the earth! Who has declared thine glory above the heavens? For out of the mouth of babes and sucklings, thou hast ordained strength. To avenge the enemy and to seal the mouth of the wicked! For when I consider the heavens, the works of thine hands! The moon and the stars which thou hast made, what is man that thou art mindful of him and the son of man that thou visitest him? Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels. Thou hast crowned him with honor and with glory. Thou hast given him dominion over the works of thine hands! Thou hast put all things under his feet! The flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. O LORD our LORD how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Joyful joyful we are for thee we all know your blessed by your sons grace and listening ears. He's your one you have designed he's our blessing he's our God. Told to me your high hosanna told to me your loving friend my Lord with thee ever with thee in my mind of joyful rest. Till the clouds of hate tip towards thee minding Gods eve of love respect. To your redeemed heart before him believes in his joyousness my heart with you joining with you our place heaven there at last!
It takes the "MTC" to sing this hymn/post to CZcams, for me to get a craving of a standard Methodist hymn, "Ode to Joy" filled - (Mercy!) Methodist Church, get in the 2000's and show us your stuff!!! :-) A Catholic girl from a bi-religious Irish family+ Grandfather/Methodist - Grandmother/Catholic Mom Methodist and I went to "Sunday School" at the most picture perfect Methodist Church in Kenton, TN (a lady that made a lifetime impression on me - as a beautiful and intelligent woman - giver to childreb and community/wife of our town doctor and he made an impression as well - I named my son after him) (God bless & rest their souls) However, My angelic grandmother, through her true devotion to God and church, complete love and care for me, genuin living as a Christian, and proud of her 1st generation Irish heritage - won another for the Catholic Church. Love you Gramma and know you are in heaven, also inherited a free mind and God also gifted me with the natural ability to look at the whole-and find it easy to forgive others, respect others-regardless of race/sex/religion, and he gave me aeyes to see beauty, ears to appreciate music and a mouth to give voice to speak for those in need (the mouth also requires pentence rather frequently, as we all have things to work on and that Irish temper fuels retort without failing often) :-) The is but one he created w/o sin and for Jesus I am so thankful - as I am not without sin or mistakes, I must remember others aren't, and so for these reasons I make efforts not to judge or gossip - I do however, have difficulty with those whom know/have heard it in church and socially - but devour others w their opinions, hearsay and even conjured untruths. For those and their victims, I pray. Not all of us are. Some wont leave a dry ear in the house if they start singing. Some are blessed with the gift of song and use it to magnify the church.
joyful joyful we adore thee god of glory god of love Hearts unfold like flowers before thee open to the sun above melt the clouds of sin and sadness drive the dark of doubt away giver of imortal gladness call us to rejoice in thee. Thats how we sing it in my chorus at school 4th and 5th graders sing im 4th our concert is febuary 4
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (February 9, Epiphany 5), we sang this as our Closing Hymn. It is #836 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
You do know it is from the original arrangement by Beethoven, Symphony #9 - Ode tp Joy is the title in our Catholic hymn books/ Your musical gifts must be wonderful to your own ears, when you play this arrangement! God gives us each Passions and talents and I believe we find true happiness when we are participating in them, whether directly or observing. Enjoy yours - Peace be with you...
Perhaps Beethoven's testimony shalt grow or has already grown in the spirit world because we honor his piece with God. To say, for centuries, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 was sung only in Austrian-German and people had trouble understanding. But now, I know, Beethoven was a believer in God.
The actual song is different we learnt it but the first paragraph is correct joyful joyful we adore thee god of glory lord of love hearts unfold like flowers before thee opening to the sun above mortals join the might chorus which the morning stars began love divine is reigning o'er us binding all within its span ever singing march we onward victors in the midst of strife joyful music leads us sunward in the triumph song of life so you can see there is no second paragraph but it is true we are going to sing it like this

Deutsche Texte
Freudig freudig
Lord, wir lieben dich über alles
Gott von Ruhm
Lord von Liebe
Herzen falten sich auseinander wie Blumen bevor
Der Hagel wie die Sonne oberhalb ist
Schmelzt die Kälte vor Sünde und Traurigkeit
Fahre das dunkle von Zweifeln weg
Gebe unsterbliche Freude
Fülle uns mit Licht
Fülle uns mit Licht
Oh, fülle uns mit Licht.....
Freudig freudig
Lord, wir lieben dich über alles
Gott von Ruhm
Lord von Liebe
Herzen falten sich auseinander wie Blume bevor
Der Hagel wie die Sonne oberhalb ist

Fahre das dunkle von Zweifeln weg
Fahre es weg
Gebe unsterbliche Freude
