    This is the first of your video's I've had the pleasure of watching. I am the parent of a pans daughter and pandas son. My son was misdiagnosed with TS at the age of 6 yrs. The doctor said, "We don't know what causes it and we don't know how to treat it." Over the years my son would have waxing and waning of tics and OCD with timeliness and schedules/time. The doctor said, "That can happened in TS." Then at the age of 12, he had a significant relapse of tics that were relentless, then came the psychosis, then the cognitive decline in math, reading, and writing, then the rage attacks, etc, etc. By then we knew this couldn't be TS (this was in 2015). We were lost for a whole year with these severe symptoms and subsequent suffering. During this time, our daughter started having tics and I thought, "Oh great! Now she has Tourette Syndrome." I figured there was nothing we could do since that's what the doctor told us and let her tics go. They went away and then came back with a vengeance after a cold along with hallucinations, rage attacks, etc. By then we had heard of PANDAS and we were looking for a doctor. Now we had two kids with hallucinations, tics, OCD, rage attacks. I'm happy to say that we are doing well now. It's been 8 long years, doctors don't understand or want to understand (more likely). It's not hard to treat, but hard to get recognition, leaving children to suffer. I believe this type of thinking will slowly change. My hope is to see the medical field become more integrated because having medical disciplines so divided is what's causing a lack in care. I am so proud of you for making a series of videos. It's individuals like you that help spread awareness. We have done our share of awareness campaigns. My son did his senior project on PANS/PANDAS. As well, I am back in school studying psychology to somehow make a difference in education. Love this and love you for being you. Suzanne

    I have a very severe case of Tourette's Caused by BGE NMDA DR-2 And I just found you, and even though I don't know anything about you, I just think you are wonderful for doing stuff like this for people. I suffer from the Worst fatigue in the world, being practically paralyzed for hours at a time. The Tourettes is also very severe, and I have literally everything associated with BGE/PANS.

    Hey I have a question I was diagnosed with PANS at 15 I'm now 21 what is the adult diagnosis of this?

    • @ChronicAdvocate
      @ChronicAdvocate  Před 16 dny

      It is still called PANS, there are many adult PANS advocates in the community, the NIMH took away the age restriction so despite PANS having Pediatric in the name, it can impact adults too. Many people don't get diagnosed with it until adulthood. I'm 21 too. Some people prefer the term Basal Ganglia Encephalitis (BGE) as they feel it is more inclusive to adults.

    • @ChronicAdvocate
      @ChronicAdvocate  Před rokem +1

      Yes - the symptoms can last decades and usually do get worse in flares. Over time the flares can sometimes get more severe.
