The atmosphere was so surreal and weird. The country was suffering the worst riots in a decade, and Nottingham was now in on them. I remember being stood in the TBI watching the penalty shootout (had left early, tut tut) and as soon as it finished the TV's were switched on to BBC News 24 and the breaking news bar saying that Canning Circus police station had been firebombed. As that was happening you could hear all of the police cars that had been relieved from their duties at the City Ground speeding off in to the City Centre to deal with the disorder there. Absolutely crazy night.
Jimmy Jim I totally agree - Notts Police must've thought that night was going to be an unmitigated nightmare; as far as I'm aware there wasn't a single incident following the game.

I remember listening to Colin Fray's commentary for that game. Completely bonkers, how we didn't go out of the cup that night amazes me to this day. Morgan's goal was completely unreal, any other occasion it would probably have ended up in the Southbank Bar rather than the top corner (not that I'm complaining).
Also I'd forgotten just how poor Andy Reid was that season.

Some wild penalty taking from County.
I was in a car share with 3 Forest fans , me being the County fan, I can't tell you how many times i said "You lucky lucky bastards" , all in good fun though , even though that Morgan goal was a one in a million , and yes YOU LUCKY LUCKY BASTARDS lol.
I remember that was a great night uniting Nottingham, it was during that crazy spell where there was riot and violence across the country, Nottingham included but it didn’t stop us.

I’m a notts fan and it was a very satisfying game to watch
This was a thoroughly enjoyable game it showed the early signs of how bad we were at the back under McClaren we couldn't even beat Notts over 120 minutes here ffs.
But now look at youse, a Premier League side.
Weird season, this one. A lot was expected from the new boss and the squad but we survived relegation and admin by the skin of our teeth. Echoes of the present, then!
