    I love this review. Not because it may or may not be harsh but because the issues addressed are real every day driver issues. Who's going to look for a trunk handle on a test drive? Who's going to bother with a passenger seat height adjustment? This is what video reviews are meant for. Great job!

    This is one of the first guys who you could tell spent some time with this car. I like the Accord, and he gave me reason not to go with the larger wheels and tires that I didn’t think of, besides being popular with thieves!

    I've never heard anyone complain about Lane watch

    • @brettonmage
      @brettonmage Před 8 lety +9

      +Chris McManus My thoughts exactly. I bought a 16 EX Sedan 6MT 6 weeks ago and already can't live without Lane Watch. His argument of having to check 3 areas means he doesn't understand what it is. With Lane Watch, there's really no reason for the side view mirror because the camera shows you everything it does and more.

    • @oldtwinsna8347
      @oldtwinsna8347 Před 8 lety +1

      +Trevor Thayer Yes exactly, it has an ultra wide view too , so provides clear sight lines of outbound lanes merging inbound, where you might want to merge right to take the next exit. This is the huge strength of the system vs blind spot monitoring systems. Also, for inner city the cameras allow you to see cyclists and pedestrians which are lifesavers that blind spot monitoring won't do diddly squat. Further, a lot of the cheaper cars have cheap electronics in their blind spot monitoring systems which produce false alarms. No need to worry about any of that.... at all.

      Chris McManus Blind spot indicators provide more situational awareness than Lane Watch. When driving on the highway in the rain at night blind spot indicators allow the driver to know what's on BOTH sides in an instant. I have my mirrors adjusted so I have no blind spots but still find the indicators useful. If I see an orange light out of the corner of my eye then be careful. With Lane Watch the camera has to be activated before any information is provided. And it provides no info on the driver's side.

    all in all, i think honda deliberately made some flaw for this 2016 honda accord because they don't want to make the car that perfect. don't forget they still have acura line up. if the accord is already so damn perfect such as come with height adjustment for passenger and ventilated seats etc, then nobody will want to buy acura.

  • @TuanH-tq8yc
    @TuanH-tq8yc Před 6 lety +4

    The pros and cons everyone pointed out are valid IMO. I've been driving Hondas ever since we bought our first one in 1994. It has never been a comfortable ride as compares to Toyota Camry or as plush as the Camry but the one thing I do know is that Honda is overall more reliable. Honda handles better and make more efficient engines. I've had friends who have had Toyotas and because of the more plush interiors in the Toyotas, they costs more. I've always said-Honda man needs to get together with Toyota woman one night in a hotel and have a few cocktails. 9mos later, BOOM! The perfect car. I would call it Hoyota or Camda...I would be waiting in line to get one.

  • @eseskay99
    @eseskay99 Před 8 lety +3

    I have the 2016 Accord Touring and I love it. The only thing I find not too useful is the driver's side wide angle vertical mirror strip on the outer edge of the mirror. A circular fish eye mirror is much more useful for checking the blind spot.

  • @roniangel3
    @roniangel3 Před 8 lety +13

    Do you realize you spent 70% of your review complaining? Not a quality review because of the continuous complaining and silly nit-picking.
    Yes, no car is perfect but your job is to provide the viewer with an in-depth review of the vehicle and not your personal opinions (or what your wife likes in a car, for that matter). Do everyone a favor and edit out your out-takes, you are not a big time celebrity in which the audience cares to see your mistakes.
    Terrible presentation. I will look to others for auto reviews.

    Good review with good details. I've test driven 2016 Honda Accord V6 Touring last month and loved the power and comfort of that car; I've owned Accord for years. Then I wanted to check out what all the buzz is about regarding Subaru. I went to a nearby Subaru dealership about three weeks ago and tried 2016 Legacy. Oh boy, the minute you sit in that car and start moving you realize this is a different Japanese car. It feels like a German car made by Japanese. I've done extensive research about Legacy and purchased 3.6R Limited Legacy and love it. I think people should consider Subaru and think out of the Camry and Honda box. I still think Accord is a great car but you can't beat AWD, reliability, comfort and solidity of Subaru Legacy.

    Nice review, Chris. Sounds like Honda took advantage of the Accord's basic goodness (engine, transmission, overall ergonomics) and phoned in this almost-end-of-the-model-lifecycle refresh. I'd be curious what you think a $35,000 Accord competes with in the Real World, as Honda does not like to put cash on the hoods of their vehicles to move metal.

  • @tadeuszlufik
    @tadeuszlufik Před 8 lety +1

    Valid criticisms even if a bit nitpicky. When youre going to spend 30+ grand on a new car and certain options arent standard or even avialable, you need to make note of it. The criticisms are so minute that you wouldnt notice upon a simple test-drive but might irritate you over time. I wanted the new Accord based on the new looks but it isnt sensible; the touring costs almost 8 grand more than my topped out Camry and yet my car has Cross traffic alert, an intuitive infotainment system, etc

    Great review. You're so right on the mark. If I pay $35k plus tax I expect to have the 3 things you mention. It also doesn't have smart trunk opening. The worst of all in my view, all trim levels use only touch screen bar for radio volume control. What a driving hazard. Some Honda designers should be reassigned.

    • @scottguitarguy2589
      @scottguitarguy2589 Před 8 lety

      +Ben Chan What's the difference between reaching for a knob vs. a touch screen button? Have you even tried one? There's also the steering wheel control which should be the tactile choice when driving anyway. If the lack of a smart trunk opener dissuades you from this then you're all the better off as you don't have the patience. I've looked at Hyundai, Ford, Mazda, Toyota, Lexus, Mercury and Subaru and they all have something I didn't like.

    I very much agree with the front passenger seat adjustment as well as ventilated front seats criticisms. I personally did not like the leather seats in this 9th generation Accord. I often felt like slipping off the seat. (We had a EX-L trim). The exterior refresh is very premium however, I don't understand why automakers cannot refresh the interior in cars during their MMC years.

    Wow what a way to pick on what the Touring 'doesn't have' (I do like your review though). Not every car has everything. I've looked at a lot of cars these last couple months. The Lexus ES 350 is a comparable V6 yet it's $6,000 more at it's base model... which has no leather, no navigation, no adaptive cruise, or other crash mitigation. I've driven both and the Lexus isn't worth it... you'd have to add about $4,000 more for those options!

    • @GlennTerryJr
      @GlennTerryJr Před 8 lety +1

      +Scott GuitarMan What year is Lexus are you looking at? Lexus ES 350 comes with leather standard.

    • @scottguitarguy2589
      @scottguitarguy2589 Před 8 lety

      Oh yep that's the ES300h (which I also looked at) that has leather as an option. The point is, even on the ES350... Navigation, the Lexus Safety package, Parking Assist, Auto High-beams, Rain Sensing Wipers are options, let alone most (and some) can only be added when other options are ALSO included. Lastly, a similarly configured ES350 (compared to the Accord Touring model) is $42,000... $7000 more!

    • @davidlyday7373
      @davidlyday7373 Před 8 lety

      +Scott GuitarMan I know I'm late but I think the point is that competitors offer things like ventilated seats at that price range. Also something that bothers me is that the lx and sport trim only have a 4 speaker sound system, the civic ex is 1,000 dollars less than the accord lx and has twice as many speakers

    • @scottguitarguy2589
      @scottguitarguy2589 Před 8 lety

      David Lyday That's partially true though I didn't see ventilated seats in the Mazda or Subaru. Since I've now gotten my Touring model it has heated rear seats, lane-watch, Garmin Navi (w/ 4 free updates/year for life!) and a way better stereo than the Mazda, Ford, Toyota, Hyundai or base Lexus 350. The super-best stereo is the Mark Levinson upgrade ($900 & must get Navi).. wink.
      They all make different recipes in hopes to entice us. I also found that the Accord LX didn't feel as solid/strong in the doors and seats.

    I have a 2016 touring model, bought it just as it unloading from semi. I love it and hate it at the same time. It has Issues that should have been resolved since it on same platform since 2013. I do have a problem having same wheels as the sport model! for 10 K difference? I do have a problem, remote either works or doesn't, rear speaker deck rattles, steering skates at highway speeds, Honda now use's very soft paint, chips easily compared to my previous Honda's, They also don't have 3.55 AUX port, USB input sucks, cell phone wireless charger is included in Canadian Models, but not in U.S. model... what the F, It does get fantastic gas mileage for a V 6, I averaged 42 MPG on a 400 mile trip, stereo sound isn't the greatest either as I found during my trip. I love Honda and have owned them since 1988. But quality isn't the same. Yes its nice and has lots of bell whistle's, but so does Kia, Hyundai, Impala, Malibu etc... What really bother's me is the rear deck rattling... So far Honda has fallen short of honoring factory defect, dealers want add some type of wedges.. No dice, will not let them put a band aid to address defect, next stop is consumer affairs and start complaint process. My next car will be another luxury car for sure! Just not a Honda

    As you said "no car is perfect " then why do you criticize Accord at its peak, are you not too much demanding ? No matter what- sales figures n its awards recognition speaks the truth. Thanks for the review anyways!

    It makes no sense to me that 19" wheels would result in a wider turning radius since the TOTAL diameter of wheel plus tire does not change (and you're not the only person who makes this assertion). Could you explain, please?

    • @gmualum08
      @gmualum08 Před 8 lety

      Right if the wheel is wider then the turning radius would be more limited not less. A more limited turning radius means you can't cut the wheel as sharp to make short u-turns, etc; however the reverse was asserted which left me confused

      I was thinking the same thing, unless this tire is quite a bit wider that Honda had to adjust the maximum turn angle? Sounds like a production deal breaker in order to offer a larger optional tire.

    Chris, what color is your 2016 test Accord! Is it the black?

    • @scottguitarguy2589
      @scottguitarguy2589 Před 8 lety

      Hi there... the color of the car in the video is "Kona Coffee Metallic". It is a very dark color. Don't believe the PC monitor. I just put a deposit down on the Touring model and I was going to get that color... until I actually saw it! It's so dark, it's nearly black. In the northwest it's hard to keep a car clean with all our rain, so a dark color was out for me. This color, Black and Luna Silver (which I'm getting) are the only colors where you can get a black interior, which I also wanted after having the creme interior in my 2006 EX-L San Marino Red coupe. I'm jazzed... it's due to arrive in 10-14 days.

      @Agent77X Před 8 lety +1

      +Scott GuitarMan Thanks Chris for the reply. I think the Luna Silver is the best color with the shape of the current Accord and goes well with the new 19" wheels. the silver adds to the luxury of the Touring. I am still deciding if I what another sedan or go with a SUV and at what price range. I currently looking at the Macan S but sales guy strong recommend that I add a couple of packages that ended up bring total price to $68K so I back off on buying for now; since I only wanted a $62K S. I was will to sign and he say I should add this and that too! I told him I was going to think about and never went back! With sales tax added it $73K! Before that I look at the Acura RDX. AWD for only $44K. It was okay but after drive the Macan; no interest in the RDX at all. Might just get a bigger X5. Not sure. X5 inside is as nice as the Macan and much bigger! The X3 seem tiny after being in the X5! X5 and Macan are in the same price too! Maybe I keep my current drive!

    Why is the accord still using a 5 speed gearbox & a dohc engine? Seems dated.

    • @ErwinSchrodinger64
      @ErwinSchrodinger64 Před 7 lety +2

      No, it doesn't. The V6 models come with either a 6-speed automatic or a 6-manual. I used to think that DOHC was needed for the Honda V6. It isn't. Honda engineering in engines is pretty incredible. Yes, it does have SOHC V6. However, it out performs the DOHC 3.5Liter engines with direct injection engines from Toyota and Nissan, and the Honda engine doesn't even have direct injection. Furthermore, all the dyno testing on the J35 (the V6 in the Accord) are conclusive that Honda is being very conservative with the horsepower numbers. The engine horsepower is closer to 300 horsepower.

      Russell Robles I think the worst part of the current Accord is the overall interior quality. From the wiggly sun visor hardware to the cheap door handle plastics and switchgear, I'm not liking that. My '04 Accord EX has much better materials and build quality.
