- Meet the irrepressible Dennis Locorriere but be prepared - his enthusiasm is infectious!
During our chat here Dennis happily walks us through from the inception of Dr Hook and the Medicine Show to present day where he has just released another solo album. Dennis talks about how he got his start in music, how he met George and Ray who would later start the band with him, and about how he was an oddity to them. He talks about Ray's iconic eye patch and how they got involved with the brilliant writer, Shel Silverstein, who ended up writing most of their hits. He speaks about his and Ray's enduring friendship and how devastated he is at the loss of him and he tells us about how, having survived covid and kidney disease, he is ecstatic to be on the road again celebrating Dr Hook's 50th anniversary.
If you feel like brightening up your day, watch this interview. Dennis Locorrierre is engaging, entertaining and very very funny.

I've been a fan of Dennis since I was 10/11 years old (1974-75). I thought that he had the most beautiful singing voice I'd ever heard (in fact I still do).
I love you Dennis Lecorriere. ❤🎼🇬🇧
Dr. Hook is very dear in near to my heart. I met my husband in a restaurant we fell in love on the dance floor. He was the DJ when we met and he would play a lot of Dr. Hook for me when he knew I was listening and it would be like sexy eyes,is one he would play and sharing the night together and all their love songs that they had. I miss him but I have good memories thank you for some great music
The best Dr.Hook voice in my opinion.
Thanks guys for some of the most incredible songs of our lives! Love you Dennis!❤
I saw Dr. Hook band many yrs ago in Orlando Florida at a football stadium coming across in full Indian headgear...have never forgot that (over 50yrs ago)
Dr Hook were one hell of a band who paid their dues and got a deserved break. Dennis is such a nice guy without any side to him.
I have loved Dr Hook and Dennis for decades
I hope you’ve enjoyed my chat with him?
@@sandykaye5865 Yes thank you.😊 New subscriber.
Love Dennis loved dr hook since I was about 9 years old been lucky enough to be 4 Times now to the bandstand in Glasgow to see Dennis he is amazing ❤❤
Great music! Dennis always looks like he is having the greatest time of his life! He has a whole body smile! I love this about him.
@Bryant Benson I first saw Dr Hook way back in 1978 and have enjoyed their music ever since.
Dr Hook music was a Hugh part of my life. Just loved them..
me too!
❤You’ve still got it Dennis❤
So cool. My brother's name was Dennis and he was born in 1949. He was an amazing drummer and won the Stan Kenton award in 1967. We lived in Orange County, California which at the time was drenched with music and musicians. Dennis died in 1968. I always imagined he would have played with the best of the best. Dr. Hook was at the top of my list. Locorriere has the best soulful voice of his generation.
Fantastic Dennis.
isn't he?!
A living legend and never lets it show. Not that he flaunts it.
he is simply wonderful, I hope you enjoyed our chat?
My wife and I went to see Dr Hook in Manchester a year or so ago at The Bridgewater Hall. Our song has always been Years From Now and when they did it I got her up in the aisle to dance. Her face was a picture because I definitely don't dance at all. Thanks to Dennis and the guys I really earned some Brownie points and enjoyed it so, so much. Thank you. It means the world to us. Dread hearing it when one of us are gone. 😢😢
My favorite song is sharing the night together. I love the video Dennis looks so sweet in this video
I'm obsessed with this man. What a voice and performer.
He's pretty awesome isn't he! Glad you enjoyed the interview!
He is such a natural performer. I could watch him sing all day.
I love all of their songs .Rest in peace Ray u was a fine man .
Yes poor Ray, he was pretty awesome wasn't he?!
I grew up loving Dr. Hook and sexy Dennis...still love him.
Loved Dr Hook since I was a young girl, the best ever❤ 59 years old now and still listen to the music absolutely fantastic 🥰xxxx

Love Dr Hook have all records play them all the time love Dennis fantastic singer
brilliant isn't he! and what a lovely guy too!
He’s still got “ sexy eyes”. I love this beautiful band in the 70s. I’m an old biddy of 63, so a massive part of my teenage years. So anytime I hear this gorgeous band , well say no more. So glad your still with us ❤️🙏🏻
he's gorgeous isn't he! who can blame you for loving him and the band all these years. hope you enjoyed the chat with him!
Dennis you are still awesome and REAL! 👍. Admire your keep on keeping on attitude.
I have loved Dr Hook for decades and Dennis is one of the most humble and genuine people I have ever met (been lucky to do so several times).
You answered a question I asked you on Tw**t*r. I have a Dr. Hook Fan Page in America. You hurt my silly feelings and I told you I didn't mean to ruffle your FEATHERS and you let me know ," Lady, I don't have any feathers," I cried a little but i'm still your fan and I still have my little 5 thousand member fan group. Over the years you made me laugh, cry and think. Thank you for being you. I have kidney & heart failure, I'm same age as you. Love ya Dennis. 💥💓💯
Sorry to read about your health concerns but thank you for your comment on this interview. I'm really glad you enjoyed it.
Love Dennis.,.He is very Talented, Love his Voice
me too!
What a great, honest man. We saw Dr. Hook at The Swagman in Melbourne during the 80s and it was incredible. I always pictured them as a pub band, always drunk, but I think that's more because of how they always acted together, in sync, happy, laughing, canoodling, as you would expect from a bunch of happy drunks having fun, but to be fair I have no idea if they even drank. I just know that if you sing like you're drunk having a great time you can karaoke their songs very easily haha. Loved it and thank you for sharing this interview.
Wow! This man doesn't age!
he's really full of life isn't he!
@@sandykaye5865 Indeed!. Had he not mentioned his age, and I was completely unaware of the era of the band, I would guess his age no more than mid to late forties!!
Such a lovely talented unassuming guy..fellow performers would do right to take a leaf out of his book
I can't even tell you how much I LOVE Dr Hook!! 90% of most of my work days these guys are in my ear 😊 I wish so much I could have seen them live
I wish he would play some shows in the U.S. I would pay to see him.
me too! take a listen to the full episode either on my website abreathoffreshair.com.au/episodes/october-24-2022/
Meeeeeeee, too!

Been a huge fan since I was a kid in the 70’s and then by miracle you came to our hometown Morden Corn & Apple Festival in the 90’s. You had an issue at the US border and were late but nobody was going anywhere and waited. You arrived and were all fantastic. I will never forget it!!!❤
Nice! Jersey has the best. Jersey girl here. I grew up not that far from Union City NJ. Dennis your the greatest! Love your music 🥰

OK it’s good to watch him and then come back to earth and say he’s just a guy. But I remember him when he was young he was awesome then.
Dennis when i found your music i havd loved you ever since❤❤❤
Such a great interview! Such a huge fan! So miss the 70s and Dr Hook!!!
Man, I really enjoyed this interview and the very best thing I got out of it was that Dennis and his partner were not enemies in the end. Hook was a one of a kind band and unique because of Dennis’s voice.

I watch and listen to them all the time.
Nice to see a musician that's so good-natured, some of these old timers seem so bitter that you wonder why they stayed in the business so long........."Sharing The Night Together" is my favorite.
Dennis is wonderful. So glad you enjoyed the interview.
I love you a Dennis❤️
me too!
beautiful man, yes and how time flies
Dennis you're a legend, and it was always your voice that made Dr.hook so amazing. It's so good to see you in good shape, and i'm dreaming about seeing you live with songs like If not you, sweetest of all, and more like the movies, and of course a bunch more. I grew up with the Hooks trough my fatter, and i'm from 1975. I think i startet listen to dr hook when i was 10, and I still do, and forevee will. Thank you for all the amazing music you have brought us...❤️❤️❤️

Came here to find out how to pronounce Dennis' last name. Got the full story in the first minute, then an interesting 30+ minute interview. Thanks!
Haha! That’s awesome. Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing band with amazing support from the great shel Silverstein... Dennis, if you have the chance, please devote an interview about shel, his life, the way he worked and dealt with people, ... it would be great to know more about the man
If I get Dennis to do this, would you like to join us on the line and ask a few questions too?
@@sandykayepresents-abreatho9146 sure :) count me in
Hi sandy. Yes, sure. Count on me and i will be there
@@Zheugma could you please give me an email address or send me a message through my website? Thanks!
@@sandykayepresents-abreatho9146sandy, Incan prepare a set of questions for Dennis about shel and dr. Hook... if it’s to happen, just let me know when and we can set a date and time
It would be wonderful to know more from Dennis about shel silverstein. I believe some are familiar with shel and his work as a writer, poet and song writer, but it would be great to know more about shel by someone like Dennis (who actually knew him). shel was involved in so much material that other uses to great effect and seems not to be many people around now that actually was close to him. Dennis, what about a video on shel and hiw you all got around, how you did things, how he was as a person, how did he work, his habits and family, his writing, his influences... maybe even funny moments that you all loved together?! I write this because is seems that Silverstein played such an important role to so many, but is in a way invisible to lay audiences these days. He was, for what is said, a complex man but brilliant. Again, it would be great if we could learn more about this character that stayed so much behind the screen :) asides this topic, hope all is well and all the best
Thanks for your comment. I think your idea is a great one. I’ll ask Dennis if he’d be interested to have another chat this time about Shel
Fantastic idea and I am so glad to see Dennis is still kickin it and telling them great stories
@@sandykaye5865 hi sandy, that would be great indeed. I am aware of more people whi actually would love to know more about shel. Dennis and sr hook were interviwed at shel's houseboat many years ago ! It was for the dutch TV I believe. Shel was such an interesting character... my mentor dod know him too in fact
@@Oriental-whispers thanks for writing. I'll ask Dennis and see what he says
@@sandykaye5865 thank you sandy :) i believe dennis may well be happy to talk about shel since he was a great fan of his. My mentir in magic knew shel and they worked similar circuits in Chicago back in the 70s
Sorry to hear about your death i will always still love❤❤❤ you rip one day i might join you one day you will always be in my heart ❤️ you are a lovely person ❤❤❤
