Had the honor of working with Ray, opening for him at the Broken Spoke in Daytona. He was very kind to me and I hold those memories in great regard. RIP Ray!!!
Wow!
I still love him on “Sylvia’s Mother”.
Dennis sang on that.
Mine too
"When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman" is my favorite Dr. Hook song. I was like 11 years old when it was released. Loved it in 79' and still love it in 2024. "Sharing The Night Together" is the other track I like. RIP Ray🙏
I was 14

Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show was the soundtrack of my youth. As a child of the 70’s & early 80’s, their music just touched my soul. Beautiful memories. ✌🏻💖🎶
They were so popular in Australia, we loved them ❤️
Yes, I've still got their original LP album from back then. Hugely popular 🎉
@@saturnsun203One of the great bands.
Always loved their music very underrated rip brother 🙏😞❤️ never forgotten
RIP Ray, thanks for the music you have left with us and all the great sounds over the years you guys put together!
Sharing the night together was one of my favorites🥰🥰🥰
It’s actually Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show, loved them!
The ears of my youth listened but today I hear much more.
Dr Hook & the medicine show officially shortened their name to just Dr. Hook in 1975. That was their official name until they broke up in 1985.
"A couple more years" was always my favourite & also one of the most appropriate songs for my first girlfriend & I. Ah those were the days 💙💖
The Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show with Freakers Ball is a classic.
Ray Sawyer was a very talented individual and had a very distinctive voice. He'll be missed. Luckily, we can still enjoy his performances.
I loved Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show.
Someone mentioned that they were not trendy enough, always a little behind the times… Guess that’s why I like them so much, they were genuine!
And man, did they have some fun! 🎶😆
Loved Dr. Hook!
Seen him in perform in NYC back in the 70s. He seemed like a fun loving type of guy.
Awesome musician. God rest his soul.😢
I loved Dr Hook and the medicine show❤
I remember buying a Cream magazine when I was very young in the 70s and there was a picture of this guy buck naked at a microphone. I’d never seen a naked person before my life. I’ve seen many more since though
😂😂😂😂😂 ✌🏻 😎
I remember there music I just started driving brings back good memories I miss the great music of the 60s 70s and 80s
I was stoned and I missed it was pretty good. Their video is awesome.
I think Locorriere and Sawyer together have some great harmony vocals. They were a fantastic and very entertaining group. I was born in 73 but my siblings were all born between 53 and 65 so I had all the great records around the house
seen them at the kings head pub in GA in the 80s one of the best shows i ever seen and i have seen a lot
I remember the kings head pub , Franklin rd Marietta , wow that was long ago
@@everyonesentitledtomyopini6723 ya i have not bin around there in over 20years miss the old days
One more year. I Still drop a tear. Because its a true story about his daughter! R.I.P 😢
Is it?
Yes, it still gives me a lump in the throat 😢
Didn't know that
@@Mary-lx3zs His daughter Amy is alive and well and is now a grandmother herself. His son Michael died.
She was 16 loved it
Great band and they had a lot of fun on stage ❤!!
I absolutely loved them
They were very popular in central Pennsylvania in the 70's, playing small venues like Altoona but selling out. They were a fun band to watch.
And they LIKED TO PARTY!!! in the fun way, that is.
They were popular in Alaska too. When we did ice fishing listening to their hits, memorable and good times. Thank you for the music guys. RIP Ray Sawyer.
Ray…my dad passed away one week before you!
He loved Blue Jeans song and I hope you two went into the gates of heaven together. Liz Taylor probably went through with yooos! Australia loves Dr. Hook music 🎶 so thanx for that! ✌️😁👍🫡✨🎶
Great group! 🎵❤️
Thanks, mate.
You gave me a lot of smiles at your antics, and you and the boys, and Shel, really pleased my ears.
Loved Dr hook band very popular in Australia down to earth band rip Ray 😢
Missed them in Medford OR in 1979. Was small drunkin concert on pbs
Dennis was the voice of Dr. Hook in my opinion and he was the lead voice in the majority of their hit songs
This is about the life and DEATH of Ray! Forget about Dennis for a while and show Ray the respect he deserves!
I was lucky enough to see them when I lived in Brisbane in the late seventies. What a great night and one i've never forgotten to this day.@@DeboRah-bj8ps
@@DeboRah-bj8psI loved these guys from first time I heard them and they were my first favorite group, with albums I could play both sides and love almost everything. They were great till after the Bankrupt album, then elevator music. Just recently readiner notes, I found this was because, due to their first record label screwing them on concert expenses, after bankrupt dennis was offered soft rock contract with new backing musicians, and rest of group bought out, this was sellout/buyout of a great group, to easy listening music😢, for all you lovers of their early music raise your voices as a loss to greed by corporate mediocrity
Absolutely fantastic have a wonderful day also today is my friends birthday ❤😊
Hope your friend is having an amazing day 🥳 Thank you for being here as always my friend 🤗💞
I was always a fan of dr hook thanks to my parents
I thought as a kid that the eye patch guy (Ray) was the Dr hook and the other guys where just his backing band
Love that guy 😎😍
Such a great band they don't make them like that anymore rest in peace Dr hook 🙏😔
Still listening to their music.❤
I got stoned and I missed it probably shouldn't have been my theme song on road trips.
But fuck they were great. Rip Dr.
Dr Hook & the medicine show officially shortened their name to just Dr. Hook in 1975. That was their working band name until they broke up in 1985.
Sharing the night together is a great song
We loved doctor hook in Australia in the 70s and 80s,,,, Sylvia's mother said and the cover of the rolling stones,,, great music 🎵 RIP my old mate !🇦🇺👍😜
They sure were photogenic😁😁❤❤
I was 16 when “She was only 16” came out!
I always loved their song More Like The Movies
That was my favourite
George Cummings WAS Dr. Hook. He named and started the band up in Jersey. He sat next to me on a train on 6/20/11 from Newark to North Carolina and he tuned up my acoustic guitar and we sand some Medicine Band songs and a few other songs and he let me sing " Freakers Ball" ( Shel Siverstein lyrics) as we serenaded everybody in our train car. Then he got off the train in North Carolina to play some golf the next day before heading to the Muscle Shoals recording studio. George pulled a flask out of his vest pocket and shared it with me inbetween songs. It was my first taste of TITO's vidka. I continued on home to New Orleans after being stuck in New Jersey for almost six years after Hurricane Katrina. He was a really nice guy but he couldn't stand Ray Sawyer at all...
Take your story and shove it BTW!
@@DeboRah-bj8psDebbie your coming across as a very angry lady.Thats a shame as there is enough angry people in the world today.
@@JoshuaRoberts-kq9cs not angry, just will not stand for ANYONE spreading any sort of tales about Ray Sawyer...first or second hand.
I'll call anybody on it any time, any place.
Rest in Peace ✌ bro 😢
Ray came thur Oklahoma, 2014-2015? They put on a very good show. Tickets were quite reasonable, unlike today.
Dr Hooks best album by a country mile was Sloppy seconds.
Saw the band in 1974 at Six Flags Magic Mountain. They were okay -- their problem was that they were totally out of step with whatever trend was current, so they came off as a novelty act (with a secret weapon, the songs of Shel Silverstein). The Tubes came along and were in sort of the same position, but they had a more distinctive, contemporary sound -- and costumes.
I think they were a novelty act by design.
Isn't novelty what it's really all about?
Not unless you're superficial enough to think it is.
@@simonagree4070 The act of making music is not necessarily novel but in order for an act to achieve notoriety it must be unique in some way.
Never saw Hook live...did attend a Tubes show w/girlfriend and My cellium, great night!
I love George. He named the band because of Ray, but he WAS Not Dr. Hook!
And a little bit more❤❤❤
My aunt was a good friend of his. It’s Mo-bill. Mobile, Alabama
Ray was a nice man.
I´ve always loved them!!!! ///Lars
I saw them in 1974.
I saw them in 1978🎶

Silvia's mother,On The Cover of The Rolling Stone.
In the early 70’s they played at a local state fair but showed up drunk/stoned and started singing risqué ( very nasty) lyrics to Sylvia’s Mother and were escorted off the stage and off the property.
Oh wow!
WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE!
I like several of their songs. But just don't care for their stage antics. Like when Dr Hook takes his shirt off and tries to act sexy. I know it's supposed to be comedy, but for some reason, it just seems weird and out of place to me.
Love me some Hook. Millionaire is my personal fave.
Never really took themselves serious but were good.
..my buddies and I saw them ca 1984 at the Crown Lounge in western Firy Lauderdale

Im a Chickasaw Al boy
Mo Beal
Saw them with Ten Years after, and Blue Oyster Cult, they were funny as hell, didn't really fit in the with the line up,though!
I saw them as backups w/BOC -Secret Treaties Tour. BOC kicked ass. Dr.Hook was like a Carnival show.
Love your accent but its prononced Mo Bill
Mo-beel
My favorite is SEXY EYES. TILL THIS DAY
In love with a beautiful woman, sexy eyes, she got her blue jeans on my favorites
15 years ago I restored my Rowe R-94 jukebox and one of the first 10 records was Dr Hook's "Cover Of Rolling Stone" on side A with "Queen Of The Silver Dollar" on side B
Love their songs but his girly boy acts was cringe worthy
Sylvia’s Mother
1:29 1:34 a bit too much info
I thought he was Dr Hook
Sexy Eyes was the best
I hope this man made it to heaven. Are you saved through Jesus Christ. Jesus died for your sins and mine. Jesus said who ever believes in me wil never die. Are you saved.
Sexy eyes was mine.
Shel Silversteins pride party.
Dr. John, Dr. Hook I always confused the two back in the 70s.
Me too 😁 Thanks for watching 🤗
