Happy Whistling! xx - Hudba
I found out about these instruments two days ago and thought finally, an instrument that will make me feel like I am some kind of mischievous forest spirit! I bought a Clarke Original today, and I am less mischievous spirit and more 'child with recorder'. But I will get there. Thank you for this video.
I felt this comment in my soul 😂😂 I felt the same way when I was starting.
I want to be a bard in dnd but how can I get into character if I can’t even play my instrument?
🤣 love it!
I bought mine yesterday and feel the same way.
It feels akward. Hopefully its rewarding in the end.
@@theminingdwarftmd1881 I've only had mine 2 or 3 days. There's a tune called something like Belle Polka, where I can sound like I know what I'm doing. 🤣
But yeah, second octave D definitely sounds like a kid playing a soprano recorder. 🙈
Galway belle polka
So not going to lie, I've been learning Tin Whistle for maybe 5 to 6 months, and I still come here just as a refresher course. Never hurts to relearn the basics.
But WHY would you lie in the first place ? How odd !

Good God, no bloody wonder I could never get anything decent out of my tin whistle. I was using my fingertips, not the pads, and I was gripping far too tight. Confidence tentatively restored.
Yea, very good,Glasgow old boy.cheers my dear well done .

I figured I wasn’t using proper mouth posture when I couldn’t get a clean note, glad to have gotten that clarified!
Still waiting for my whistle in the mail. Atleast i can come here to learn in the mean time. You deserve more recognition for your videos.
Totally agree
I was terrified when I ordered this I thought oh you're being so silly but you have helped me a great deal thank you so much you are amazing.
I am as well, so that by the time it's delivered I'll already know the basics :)
This is super helpful because where I live, there are no teachers that could teach me in real life. So I’ll be teaching myself after this, but this was soooo helpful!!
I have got a music test tomorrow and this I think will really improve my grade.
Thanks!!!
I play guitar and learned to play recorder poorly about 30 years ago...but was always taken away by the sound of, and the traditional melodies I heard played on tin whistles. Thanks for your splendid instruction...just right for a newbie!
THANK YOU ! I was stuck for 3 days trying to learn a tab and couldnt figure out why it sounded wrong, then I found your video and you explained that by blowing harder he get a whole new octave, got a massive facepalm momment right there
Thank you very much. The fact that you made a series on this is amazing ♥️
Just got my first Clark whistle in D. starting the journey to see where it takes me your videos are invaluable
My flute arrived today, and after finishing your first two lessons, I'm already playing songs. Thank you very much! I'm heading over to Patreon to subscribe now.
That's wonderful news ❤️ I'm so pleased my videos have helped you get started so quickly! It's a lot of fun 😊 I hope you'll really enjoy it! x
Just got my first whistle but I'm struggling a bit...can't believe how gently you need to blow 😳
It’s even worse if you’re an oboist, which takes a lot of strength the make a sound on.
It’s easy I’ve been doing it for 5 years get used to the note and then it’s easy 👍🙂
My souvenir tin whistle found in a drawer after 13 years from Ireland trip.
Got to learn it. Nice channel. Thanks
Great lesson Stephanie! Thank you! I ordered and just got my first Clarke!!! Learning new instrument while in qarantine for corona virus! Greetings from Greece
So clear and motivated, splendid!
Terrific. You've motivated me to actually get a tin whistle and start learning. Thanks
My grandfather used to play the tin whistle and I bought one and have been trying to teach myself. Your instruction is so clear and enjoyable to follow, I subscribed immediately. Looking forward to future lessons. Thank you.
Thanks so much! My tin whistle has been sitting in a box for years, and I got it out today because of your lesson.
have been doing harp for a while now and don't yet have one so my teacher said to learn the tin whistle this is helping me loads thanks so much
Excellent! I play several instruments, but a tin whistle is not one of them.
My granddaughter wanted a flute for her birthday so I thought this would be a good place to start.
I really had no idea how to proceed so your video helped immensely...thank you!
Just got my first tin whistle for Christmas yesterday. Time to learn from you!
thank you so much... my friend had gone to Ireland and brought me back a tin whistle... had it in my bookshelf for nearly 20 years, my son is a music major and I wanted to have something to relate with him as music is his passion - so I dug it out and dusted it off. Grateful for your channel, your instructions are clear. Thank you
My just wife asked me to teach her penny whistle. So I just forwarded her your tutorial videos to get her started.
This was incredibly helpful! I've had a tinwhistle for probably a year now and rarely ever touched it because I had no clue what I was doing, I'm a guitarist, and have never played anything like this. When I couldn't immediately figure it out, I gave up. Thanks so much for the help.
You're welcome! I hope it's given you a good start. It's easy once you're in the right path 😉 x
Brilliant first lesson. I bought a tin whistle several years ago, as I couldn't manage to make music from it, it was put away for a rainy day. After watching your lesson, I'm keen to give it a whirl.Thank you. Paul Lucas.
This was so well explained that I went back a 2nd time to take notes for both the Higher (+) & Bottom Octaves 😃
The only instrument I’ve ever been successful at playing was the radio!!! I love Irish music and I now have a tin whistle, and if it kills me I will learn to play it!!! Thank you for your video!!!!
Thank you so much for this video; it's been extremely helpful as I really didn't know what I was doing before. Whereas now I actually have a half decent chance at getting started with this not so seemingly-simple instrument.
I also have a Clarke made whistle coming back, as well as a fife. I haven't played either but look forward to trying. This video is very instructive and helpful and you are such an adorable lady!
Thank you, Stephanie. I am brand new at tin whistling. In fact, I just got my very first tin whistle today in the mail: a Tony Dixon Trad D Cupro Nickel whistle. I'm so excited to start learning. After watching this video, I'm finding it a little bit easier to hit the notes. Thanks again.
so happy 2 find you. i love the penny whistle. i hool 2 learn a lot. i have got a C whistle
a tutor who tooted the flute,
tried to tutor two tooters to toot
said the two to the tutor,
is it easier to toot? or to tutor two tooters to toot!
Melted my mind
Toot on this missie

Darn tootin'
a flute is no lute, so don't strum
no kazoo, so please do not hum
you sound it by means

I just got a tin whistle as a birthday gift and this was the best possible tutorial to get started! And your way of explaining it was adorable and wholesome. Thank you!
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I hope you find some of my other videos useful too. Feel free to ask if you have any questions, I'll try my best to help 😊
Lovely and smart. I'm an old recorder and clarinet player who's just taken it into me old head to get a whistle for Paddy's day, and there's enough difference to warrant a nice tutorial like this. Thank you!
Thank you! I just bought a tin whistle and got started and this tutorial was perfect!
I just bought a whistle yesterday. This helped a ton! I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, but this showed me that I was reading the fingering chart backwards. Now I know how to play all the notes properly!
Thank you for the great tips, Stephanie! I just got my Clarke original yesterday, and I can't put it down. I love your videos, and now I can learn to play along! ❤️
Same here! Got it today.. thanks!! 🙏
Thank you Cutiepie.
I just time traveled to 1989 recorder class (year 3 of school). Some of it came back thanks to you. I just bought an Irish whistle today. Thank you for the lesson!!! 💚
I love your videos!!! Thank you for all, I'm your fan from México
Thank you for the video, I’ve tried to learn how to play in the past but with limited success, I’m prepared to have another go after watching this-thank you.
I got a Generation tin whistle in D today and it has been my lifelong dream to play this piece. SO EXCITED AHHH! Your videos are helping me build a foundation first though. Coming from piano, I know I cant just jump into it. "blow harder or softer for octaves...okay then that's new to me" lol
This is an exceptional video. You have a wonderful demeanor and your teaching style is fabulous! Thank you!
im so excited ive just found your channel! just about to buy my first tin whistle!
Brilliant teaching! Thank you for sharing what you know. Today, is day 1 for me
Thanks, you are a great teacher. I used to play ukulele in an Irish group. My D whistle is on order and I' anxious to learn.
The tip about resting the mouthpiece on the bottom lip is genius - happy to subscribe!
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!!! That's really helpful. I just got my tin whistle and I'm so happy I found this video ♡
Since when I were a kid I wanted to play the flute. Know that I traveled to Dublin and found this whistle, I will finally learn how to from a really good teacher ❤
I love your channel! I just got my tin whistle key D in the mail and have been practicing thanks to your videos! Thank you!
Thank u!!! I can’t wait to learn. What a simple little beautiful folk instrument
stumbled across your channel today. It made me pick up my old low D whistle. I'd forgotten how soothing the sound is and boy am I out of practice. Not at all like jumping back on a bicycle after years of not riding. thank you for the inspiration. Now, to practice.
Haha, oh I don't know, I'm crap every time I get on a bike ;) I'm sure you'll be back to your best in no time!
I had too much Irish whiskey in me last night and bought one on eBay after watching your video. It looks like I might have to start to learn it.😂
What a great lesson! Thanks. You're a wonderful teacher. I look forward to learning more from your videos.
Thanks so much,i got all my questions being answered,May God bless you always!
Thanks CutiePie, was struggling with the pitch and blow pressure, cleared it right up 🙏😎
Thank youuu!
There is not to much tutorials about tin whistle.
Good teaching, thank you Stephanie.
Hi stephanie . One hour ago I ordered my first whistle.. a red clarke... and just now your lesson appeared on you tube. What a great coincidence .thanx 💜🌹
Thank you so much for the lesson!
I got this thing a few years ago, and no one could get me to play this thing straight but wow you just got a new subscriber
I just played an Irish whistle for the first time today and am already planning to buy one. Here I am preparing myself.
Bought my Feadog D yesterday and today is time for lesson one! Thank you! So excited to learn!
Yey!!!! I’m so motivated ❤️
I've got to say, you explain your teachings in a very pleasant way. It's an absolute joy to listen to! And you are very handsome aswell
So glad I found this channel. Wonderful videos. I've had to switch from guitar due to wrist and hand issues. I can play the tin whistle without pain and stay connected to music. I'm not great at the minute, but I know it takes practice to master any instrument.
Blessings xo
Thanks for your videos, I'm just getting started with my very first F tin whistle
Excellent, Thank you! I tutor for Classical Conversations, and we teach tin whistle. This will help me relay the basics to the kids.
I play the flute. And I really enjoyed your beginners lesson. I am looking forwards to learning more . Thank you
So glad you said we need a Whistle in D. Bought one a few years back and tried to learn by a book (which did not work out great) and was worried I'd have the "wrong" whistle.
I bought my exact same whistle 10 years ago, it has been in the draw till today. Thank you for your great first lesson.
Drawer.
I am very much impressed with your flute class Mam😊..The way you teach everything very perfectly..Not only ur music ur voice is also very melodious ❤..Thank you so much for this beautiful tutorial video.
Lovely teacher very easy to understand. I have no music background, but during this coronovirus lockdown, I've just started, in my 60s, have wanted to do since I was at school in Ireland and could never get the hang of it. Just wondering after this, where is the next lesson? Is there a series of lessons?
It's amazing! 😄 Thank's! Now, i'll to learn.
I just started on the tin whistle and this video was so helpful
Thank you so much, your lesson is very, very useful for me, beginner... I've just bought my first tin-whistl in D ("Feadóg"), and you really help me. Greetings from Saint-Petersburg...
I can metal tune with the flute, love the background tunes.
That was really helpful! Thank you so much!
Thank you a million times over. I bought my tin whistle 15 years ago, but out of frustration put it down. Bought it at a fair, so I realize it's cheap, no key markings, but I think it's a D whistle. I was given not so good instructions, so I gave up. Then I found your channel. I'm practicing now. Determined to learn. Then I'll think about a real whistle. Thank you for all the tutorials. I dream of one day playing around the campfire while camping. The little things in life.
I bought my whistle yesterday 6 Dec 2022 and found your CZcams page thanks for the basic information now I need to practice . I am not a musician don't know anything about notes so hopefully everything will come together in my practice. I'm 73 yrs old so this is going to be a long road ahead but hopefully I can get my dream together. Hope everybody else is going well with their practice. Enjoy your day.
Enjoy it Terence! There's plenty of information here to help you. I have a free beginner's course to get you started and give you all the info you need:

Thank You So Much For The Lesson!

very nice video, thank you for sharing the tips. I am a beginning level to start learning Tin whistle, learning a lot from your video.
Really nice tutorial!! Thanks
Fantastic intro to the tin whistle.
Hi there, Just want to say thank you for your channel! I got a tin whistle today and it was only a cheapy little thing, but it's an instrument i've been fascinated with for quite some time. Found you via the Hobbit 'shire' tutorial, but am thoroughly enjoying going through your videos, to learn more. Thank you for your informative and easy to follow tutorials!!!
I started playing a five hole blue bear flute and one of the employees in my trailer park heard me. He had ordered a penny whistle. They sent him two so he gave one to me. I know very little about scales and notes, but I could play Colors of the wind on it (though not too well). It will be fun learning to play it. Thanks for the lesson. 👍💕
Thank You so much for this lesson!!!
Great tutorial, love it!
I am a beginner. Your channel is by far the best out there!! I know this because I binged watched almost every video you have! Lol Thank you so much for sharing all your tips and tricks!!
Todd Nichols Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I was feeling a little low about my whistling lately so hearing that has really cheered me up. 😊 X
CutiePie feeling low!? If I could play half as good as you I would pretty awesome! LOL
Todd Nichols I've had so many requests for fast songs lately and I utterly suck at fast playing, no matter how much I practice 🤣 I'm pretty impatient with myself too, so I get annoyed when I can't do something. Haha. It's all about putting in the hours though, I've just gotta find some to spare 😊 thanks again for your lovely comments. I hope you enjoy the channel and good luck with your whistling! x
CutiePie I totally understand. I wondered myself how I would get to that level...lol. if anyone can do it ....it's you...
Great presentation. Thank you.
