It "thickens" because it is buckling, because with age, the disks are thinning out and losing height. With age it also calcifies (ossification).

yup. It also physically thickens in addition to buckling. thanks for watching, -SP

@Prasad Spine Academy what is infolding of the ligamatum flavum?

This is when tension on a ligament is reduced (for example with extension with the ligamentum flavum) and it "buckles" inward. You can think of a belt under tension being taut but if you reduce the tension the belt will "buckle". Hope that clarifies, -SP

Is cervical spondylosis with disc disease c6 and c7 is curable?

The question is, if it just thickens by the age or if the reason is the sitting posture.
This cause tension in this ligaments. The thickening probably is adaption to this chronical tension.
And now there's buckling when you extend the spine, cause the ligament lost its elasticity.
The yellow in this ligament are elastic fibers.
They are wearing out like a rubber band with our chronical sitting.

Yeah, that's an interesting thought! Thanks for sharing, SP

With proper treatment can the ligament thin out again?

Not really. There is a fair amount of interesting research being done in this, including at Jefferson. It doesn't thin out over time on its own though. Great question! -SP
