@@RiptideSlayer I'm not sure what model mine is, but it was $11 and it's one of my favorites. Was pretty sharp out of the box, but I put some 3000 grit passes on it and it's like a razor now
You're right, sometimes I'll take a Mora to the woods instead of a Fallkniven or Bark River - it sets me back to my start of knife collecting and bushcraft but also to the fact that you don't need big bucks to have fun & make progress.
Been working as a welder and cobbler for years 😊 And always a couple of Mora in the toolbox! A little trade secret is that the blade profile on the cheaper Mora knifes works very well with leader 👍 They are also fine for wood working ⚒️
I really appreciate the way you do all these tests without changing camera angles and using camera tricks you seem very legit and I appreciate the content thanks a lot man
@@Nebol"not sure I'd call it budget" They have the best low price knives with the same quality as many expensive knives they aint as pretty as the others due to the cheap plastic but budget wise?If ur after quality it is pretty darn budget wise it's almost a steal for 17 bucks to get a knife that can do anything any hundred dollar knife can if u want knives that look cool go talk to the Chinese folks they got plenty of pretty knives made of Chinesium steel
I grew up with mora knives, the best to use when out in the forest making fishing rods etc. The ones I used i got from my grandfathers woodshop, and where of Ye Olde kind, must have been from the early 1900s, wooden handle and all. Man, this video brings back memories.
I've been using the stainless Garberg for a couple of years now and I've only sharpened it like 3 times. Exceptional edge retention on that steel. Also feels damn near indestructible when used within reason.
@@wolfpacak47 mine was a clean Scandi when it arrived, and my improper sharpening technique with the Fällkniven DC40 introduced a micro bevel. It's still razor sharp though, so I don't think it matters that much.
@@12stepsbeyondtheeventhorizon ok thanks for replying mines not that sharp is the problem won't shave hair I'm hoping to correct that when the wet stone arrives
That one handed rod light is sick as heck. I cant tell you the amount of times thoes small cuts make small things like this hard af. Even the cold will male it hard.
Mora knives are great knives, strong, sharp, easy to sharpen with a whetstone, handles are absolute perfect fit, and rubber on them provides sure grip even with VERY dirty hands, blades as hard as a file, I literally ground the back of the blade on one of mine just so I can use it to scrape sharp edges off of steel parts at work. I'm not a bushcrafter, but I do like to have a knife I can rely on. If you're looking for inexpensive knife, but want good quality, look no further than Mora Companion, available in stainless and carbon steel. Stainless has a bit thicker blade, but is harder to sharpen, while carbon is overall more durable, just remember to keep is dry and oiled. You can't get a stronger knife for this price.
Great, easy-to-follow bushcrafting examples used to test it. Probably the best, most complete review I’ve ever seen in such a short video too! Thanks for producing it. Keep it up!
Morakniv are great all purpose fixed blade knives and everyone should have one in their go bag. This is a nice model with sheath and ferro rod, and the price is cheap for the quality. Can't go wrong with this one.
Ah, I remember doing that when I was his age! I was vegetarian/pesketarian and spent three nights outside in the Cornish winter eating only what I could scavenge - my cousin and I were competing to outlast each other. He got sick after the second night (just a cop), I won :)
I did that too! But, I used camping as a way to go to all night parties. The folks think that you're camping, but you're pounding alcohol and talking to girls. And lying about your age. Yeah, at age 13. That's about when I started. Not saying that your boy is doing it, but it's something to think about. And you just might want to check up on him, out of the blue, on a future camp out.
They're cheap. I work at a hunting camp in Alaska and I usually get 4 or 5 to give to the clients when their expensive knives fail. I've dressed and skinned moose and bear every year.
Mora is really damn good. I love them. Everything you want in a knife; it's pure, reliable, high-quality practicality with no nonsense. And decently affordable, too, for the quality you get. I got one of my friends a Mora Companion for his birthday many years ago, and he still uses it today, mostly for fishing. Although he did let it get rusty in his tackle box and I had to teach him how to fix it.
The demonstration was so good, I just ordered one... I've never seen a review of Morakniv product that was less than wonderful... Great channel you have sir...
As someone who has been using their knives for a while now,I'd honestly say they are beautiful, perfect knives for when you are in a pinch and ferro rod is just a massive bonus
I have experience with 2 other models of this awesome brand. Would love to get my hands on this one too tho! New to your channel, keep up the good work!
Morakniv is an amazing company. They understand that you don’t need to throw a crazy price tag on something for it to be good. If it’s good it’s good and word of mouth is all you need.
Morakniv makes quality stuff. Even their cheap knives are really good.

A hatchet, saw and a Mora is all you need in the woods, love my Companion HD
Here in Sweden practically every household has a morakniv in some form, they're also very popular with carpenters and other craftsmen
I have like a dozen of em laying around all over the place

Most honest and accurate knife testing videos I've found love this channel
Morakniv knifes are just the best budget knifes I know.
Not sure I'd call it budget. It's not cool or fancy knives. It's just good knives and not excessively priced.
